Henry’s Tower was first built in the 15th century as the bell tower of the Church of St. Henry and St. Kunhuta. Originally made of wood, the current stone version was erected at the end of the 16th century, and renovations in 1879 gave it a neo-Gothic style. This symbol of the city is a highlight of many Prague walking and cycling tours, and its panoramic observation deck is among the most scenic in Nové Město.
Henry’s Tower houses a restaurant with tables set beneath the antique bells, a whiskey bar, and a café for various unique dining and imbibing venues.
Culture enthusiasts can visit the tower’s art gallery and history museum, and shoppers can browse the souvenir store.
Stairs and an elevator connect all tower levels, making it accessible to strollers and wheelchairs.
Henry’s Tower is located on Jindrisska Street, which connects Wenceslas, Charles, and Senovazne Squares. It is accessible from either the Námestí Republiky or Mustek Metro stations or by several tram lines (Jindrisska stop); the bell tower is also an easy walk from the top sights in the Prague’s Nové Město district.
The observation deck, exhibition, and museum spaces are open daily until 7pm, while the tower’s internal restaurant, bar, and café keep later hours. Head to the panoramic overlook at sunset for unbeatable photos of the old town rooftops, then linger over dinner or drinks at the eateries downstairs.
