The basics

The Mucha Museum is located in the Kaunický Palace, itself built in Baroque style in the early 18th century. The museum is divided into seven sections: Decorative Panels; The Parisian Posters; Documents Décoratifs; The Czech Posters; Oil Paintings; Drawings and Pastels; Photographs and Personal Memorabilia.

Many of the posters on display were completed while Mucha lived in Paris between 1895 and 1904, and several of them advertise productions starring the legendary actress Sarah Bernhardt. Photos taken during these years at his notorious Paris studio reveal famous artists of the Belle Époque era—don't miss the one of expressionist artist Paul Gauguin minus his pants.

Visitors typically visit the museum independently, but guided tours are available if booked seven days in advance. Bookings are made via the Mucha Museum website.
