Today you can see additions and renovations from different periods in history and the 15th-century tower stands almost 230 feet (70 meters) tall for views of New Town (Nové Město) and Charles Square (Karlovo Náměstí) from above.One of the most important landmarks in the city, the New Town Hall is a stop on most sightseeing tours by foot, bike, or hop-on-hop-off bus. You can also admire the New Town Hall as part of a combo river cruise and walking tour of historic Prague.
Not all of the New Town Hall is open to the public, but you can visit the Hall of Justice and climb the tower. Note that the tower has more than 200 steps to reach the top and no elevator.
Kids especially enjoy scaling the Gothic tower and taking in the city from above. The tower is not accessible to strollers, however.
New Town Hall is only partially accessible by wheelchair; the tower is not accessible.
The New Town Hall is located at Karlovo Náměstí 23 in the northern part of Charles Square. You can get there by taking metro line B to the Karlovo Náměstí station or by walking from almost any major sight in the compact historic district of Nové Město.
Admire the New Town Hall any time of day from the outside, or visit during opening hours to scale the tower and take in the view. Choose a clear day for vistas across the rooftops of Nové Město to the Vltava River and Malà Strana district on the opposite bank.
Prague’s skyline is pierced by a number of church towers and other panoramic perches that offer sweeping views across the city. Both the New Town Hall and the Old Town Hall have historic towers with soaring observation decks, as does the Great South Tower of St. Vitus Cathedral. You can also scale the more modern Petřín Lookout Tower or Tower Park Praha (Zizkov TV Tower).
