The basics

Located just off the famous Ringstrasse to the south of Maria Theresien Platz, Vienna's Museum Quarter was completed in 2001 and covers 645,000 square feet (60,000 square meters), taking over the site of the former imperial stables to encompass a number of cafés, bars, restaurants, shops, and public spaces alongside its many museums and art institutions. A marvel of modern city planning, effortlessly blending baroque and modernist architecture, the MuseumsQuartier is a must for art lovers. Pair a visit here with a city tour to take in the top sights in Vienna like St. Stephen's Cathedral, Hundertwasserhaus, the Vienna State Opera, and the Albertina.
