The Remise Transport Museum offers a unique way to explore Viennese history for visitors of all ages. Experience the city’s five subway lines from the point of view of a metro driver with the multimedia subway simulator; seevintage photos of how Vienna’s transport looked over the decades; and admire dozens of vintage vehicles.

  • Adults and kids who love trains, trams, and all things on wheels will enjoy the Remise Transport Museum’s eclectic collection of urban transport vehicles.

  • Not all of the museum’s information panels are translated into English, but there is a downloadable audio guide with additional explanations.

  • The small gift shop next to the ticket office sells transport-themed clothing and souvenirs. The shop opens daily, even when the museum is closed.

  • There’s a vending machine for beverages and coin-operated lockers, but no museum café or bag check.

How to get there

Vienna’s Remise Transport Museum is outside of the city center, and far from the tourist track, but it is easy to reach via public transportation. Take metro line U3 or tram line 18 from downtown Vienna to the Schlachthausgasse stop; there are also a several urban bus routes that stop near the museum.

The museum is only open a few days a week, so confirm the opening day and hours before heading out to visit. Generally, the museum is open on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday each week, though opening days can change based on public holidays. The museum gift shop is open daily.
