Best excursion ever!!

Captain Bill, Melissa, and Callum were extremely welcoming and incredible hosts on our adventure. They made sure we were doing ok the entire time and offered us water, fresh cut pineapple, fruit snacks, and cookies. They were very knowledgeable, accommodating, and kind. As for the mantas, we were kissed three times! Such cool creatures that we got to see up close. At one point we counted 8 mantas in front of us!

Amazing night with Manta's - more than we could count!

We had a great night viewing the Manta's. The crew of Kevin and Cal were awesome along with Captain Bill. Because of high surf, our tour was postponed four nights but fortunately we were able to get out on the fifth night. There were more Manta's than we were able to count. At least 12 to 15+ in a continuous stream feeding at the lights. A highlight of our trip to the big Island. Would definitely go again.

One in a lifetime experience

This was an incredible tour, the crew was amazing and very helpful. We saw at least 10 Manta Rays, one of them was at least 15 feet across. We were worried about getting in the water at night with our kids (9 and 12) but those fears were quickly alleviated by the helpful crew. They got us in the water during sunset and as it got darker the show became more incredible with the Mantas flipping in front of our faces. The captain was proud of the boards he built and talked about how his lights and system Was better than other boats. Based on what we saw with the other boats I would agree with him. The board they built was pretty cool! We would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Kona. The only negative is the boat is very tight with the 24 people crammed in there. **Don’t forget your underwater cameras, we didn’t bring ours and wished we had. Luckily a friend had one and shared the video with us. The crew does not have any camera / video equipment. **

I did a lot of research on what company to go with. If I could give this company a 100 stars I would. This was the most fascinating, magical excursion I have ever done in my life. The crew and captain on board were outstanding. We must have had 10 manta rays around us. The captain customize his own lights, so he gets the manta rays where the other companies maybe get one or two. And on top of that, he cut up sweet pineapple and makes homemade chocolate chip cookies that are out of this world for everyone. I will book this again it was that great!!!

This was one of the most amazing things we have ever done!! We saw at least 6 Manta that stayed with us the whole time we were there! Captain Bill, Karen, and Cal were phenomenal hosts! It was informative, fun, and they were super helpful! If you only book 1 excursion while you are here, this should be it!

Not worth the price.

No Manta Rays showed up. They said a light meal would be provided but it was a piece of pineapple and a cookie. It was disappointing. The crew were very nice, though. We still gave them a tip.

hi Kira not sure why you expected a light meal. We offer and provided light snacks, cookies, fruit, waters etc, please recheck your booking confirmation. We also were disappointed that the mantas did not cooperate. We view the mantas in their open ocean in their habitat, unfortunately this happens a very small percentage of trips. Your reference to providing a tip, though very much appreciated seems odd, you were a single booking (we). As stated in our departure briefing you are welcome to return for free any time in the future until you are completely satisfied with you Manta experience. Mahalo Capt Dan n Crew

The manta rays were magnificent! They swam just inches under us! Beautiful graceful creatures of the ocean! Our staff was great! Extremely knowledgeable of the life of the manta rays , entertaining , and very cautious of everyone’s safety! Highly recommend this amazing tour!

Too crowded but lots of manta rays

The many’s ray experience itself was great and the tour guides were very hospitable and accommodating. The only thing that completely ruined this tour for me was the amount of guests on the boat. There was over 24 ppl and it was crowded. I don’t do well in confines, crowded spaces and I wish I would have known it was going to be very crowded and I would have opted for a small group tour. Other than that, they delivered on the manta rays and their level of ocean expertise.

What a great experience. Drew was amazing. Remembered everyone's name, introduced us to his manta girlfriend Gabby, and kept us entertained. Captain Dan was equally as entertaining and delightful. Worth every penny and then some.

Awful from start to finish

One of the most awful experiences of my life. Packed onto a small boat with too many people, a captain who sucked any amount of joy out of the room, very very choppy water (apparently a calm night comparatively), and very cold water. The manta were beautiful but the entries experience was so miserable I’d rather see them in an aquarium.

HI are sure you have the correct Company as we have one of the biggest vessels in the fleet and only load to 2/3 capacity to ensure a comfortable trip for all. We have some of the warmest waters of all the Islands with an average yearly temp of 78/81. But anyway obviously this is not for you - We wish you all the best at the aquarium as we would rather see them in the wild as they should be. MAHALO

Rough seas

The crew was great, put we didn’t see any Manta Ray. The sea was rough and we floated in the cold water for about an hour. Sam the deck hand offered another trip,but NO vouchers were issued to any participants or refund. The Captain of the boat bragged on how he has the best lights out of any crew(boat) and still saw not even 1 Manta Ray! Several people got sea sick as well. Including my wife.. This was the worst part of our vacation.. Would I do it again?

Hold a valid pass and was refused to get on board

Such a horrible experience! We booked from Viator and got confirmation email. Went straight to the harbor and showed them the pass. The lady refused to get us on board as she couldn’t find our reservation on her phone. She kept saying they were all booked full till Jan 2nd. We were left in a dilemma and this totally disrupted our schedule. We wasted almost four hours figuring out why this can happen and it finally turned out to be a “refund”. No solutions were given except a refund. If “refund” can help, can they “refund” our time? We only stay in the big island for two nights and this totally destroyed our expectation. Super disappointed and upset!

Hi unfortunately you booked thru Viator which is a 3rd party booking service - They had problems with their API booking notification system which did not allow the booking to pass thru to our booing platform - we simply had no idea that you held a booking, which is a bad situation - please feel free to direct your anger towards Viator we are in the middle as well - this is why we always suggest booking directly on our site @ mantaadventures.com this will avoid any 3rd party booking mishaps - when you return to the big island in the future please contact me Capt Dan and i will offer you a free trip on us - again. sorry D
