Our guide, Dariusz, made the trip as informative and as pleasant as it could be. We would recommend him to anyone who wants a full tour of Krakow and Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Memorable one day visit

Our guide had an excellent knowledge of polish history. We could understand complicated circumstances in which Jewish people were placed at that time. So we really appreciated his service.
An excellent day out

the tour was excellent. It was the third time we visited Auschwitz and Alicja showed us so much that we hadn't seen before. Her knowledge was excellent and she recounted history with a lot of empathy for the victims. If we ever decide to return to Krakow we will definitely book with her again.
Private tour Auschwitz-Birkenau

Our driver (Darius) emailed us the day before to confirm pick up and arrived exactly on time. We were shown around the Jewish District, drove past the ghetto and Schindler's factory. We then headed out to Auschwitz II Birkenau where Darius personally took us through the camp. We were then driven to Auschwitz I and handed over to a tour group with English speaking headphones. Our guide for this tour group (Suzanne) was brilliant! We personally found Darius very abrupt at times but wonder if this is just the Polish way? It would seem from reading all the reviews that his wife Alicja is excellent so maybe request her for this tour if you get a chance. It takes over an hour to get to the camps. It was a cold day but we found the heating in the car ride there to be quite hot (remember we are from Australia). When we requested that the AC be turned down, we were told that it was already on low and he didn't want to lose is voice?? We had to keep opening the windows to let the cool air in. Other than that, the tour was very good. Incredibly sad what happened but something everyone should see so that it is never forgotten or repeated.

Trip with Alicja was amazing! She is a great host. This trip is a must see and they way Alicja guides you through history is amazing! If you ever plan trip to Auschwitz, you should contact Krakow4you and Alicja and have her take her on this journey! She is a rock star! From the moment she met us, to the care along the way, it was the most unforgettable experience! Thank you Alicja! we will highly recommend you to anyone interested in this tour!

Really wanted to get a thorough immersion experience for my family with two kids and with a lot of internal debate signed up for this trip based on all the feedback that we saw online. It appears that others were lucky and have had a better experience with the company. We also did not have the lady who is well reviewed as the guide, which could also be the contributing factor. Was disappointed that we ended up paying almost three times the money for an experience that was pedestrian. I had already visited the area prior and primarily wanted to show my family the same. Was hoping that the Krakow tour at the end will make up for the poor experience, but it did not. Highly recommend free walking tour of the Jewish district rather that take his abbreviated highlight tour of an the area that has such high historical significance.

Alecja was the BEST tour guide we ever could have asked for. We wish we would have known we could have used her for all of our touring in Krakow. Alecja wanted to start at 7 AM, which we just couldn't do as we had been traveling so much prior, and we arrived in Krakow late the night before. She agreed to pick us up at our hotel at 8:30 AM. Once we got in the car, Alecja was quick to start telling us about what our day would entail, and she started telling us about the history of Auschwitz. Once we told her that my children were grandchildren of a survivor, my husbands Mother, she was so quick to want to learn about my mother-in-laws survival story, and what we were hoping to gain from the day. Alecja's understanding and knowledge of the concentration camps, and the history of Poland are so obvious when she speaks to you. She was so caring, and empathetic, and we could not have asked for anyone better to share this difficult journey with us. Somehow or another, with Alecja's help, we feel as if we have arrived at some inner resolution of knowing what our family members endured during this horrific period of history, while leaving and thinking there is so much more to know that no one ever will. We highly recommend Alecja when touring Auschwitz for true compassion, and understanding and learning so much more than we have ever been told.

We booked a trip to Krakow for the beginning of January and decided that a private tour of the concentration camp Auschwitz and the Jewish quarter would be the right choice. Since were a family of five including 2 teenagers, we chose a German speaking guide for Auschwitz to make sure theyre able to follow the tour properly. However, the majority of the time we spend with Alicja Wróbel as our guide and we were all very satisfied and would highly recommend a guided tour with her. Alicja Wróbel and the driver Robert picked us up at 6:30 am to make sure we wouldnt have to wait at our first stop Auschwitz I and that for sure was a good idea since we were one of the first groups to get there, where our German guide was already waiting for us. On our way to Auschwitz Alicja Wróbel already provided us with plenty of information about the history of Auschwitz and some general facts. After the German speaking tour had ended we were picked up by Robert and Alicja Wróbel to drive back to Krakows Jewish quarter and the Jewish ghetto, where Alicja showed us the main places to see and recommendations where to eat. She was very open, easy to understand and happy to answer all of our questions. She was able to adjust her content according to our interests and previous knowledge. Telling plenty of stories of survivors made it easy to follow and interesting for people who already have a good general knowledge of the history during the Third Reich. All in all, the tour was very well organized and Alicja Wróbel even offered their help in case we have any other questions about Krakow after the tour ends. As all of our family members were very touched by that experience, we would like to recommend this tour including Alicja Wróbel as a guide since were convinced there is no better way to plan out such a trip and learn about this particular part of our recent history.

We took this option because we wanted opportunity to explore the topic in greater depth than would be otherwise possible in a large group. We were not disappointed. Alicja is an exemplary 'host', her excellent command of the english language made for a very difficult subject and visit to be although sombre, a fulfilling experience. In practical matters, she is highly efficient pre-empting our every wish and need - nothing too much trouble so making this difficult visit also enjoyable. Congratulations.

From the start of the day when Alicja picked us up, the day was the centerpiece of our trip to Krakow. She drove us through some delightful countryside, then showed us around Birkenau by car before taking us to the Auschwitz guided tour. She then accompanied us on the tour, adding depth, and insight to the official guide's presentation. Following a delightful lunch we went onto Birkenau. It is a very large area, and on a sunny day in the summer the pristine buildings, surrounded by grass made it hard to visualize the horrors of the past until Alicja showed us inside the buildings, and described the conditions and deprivations that existed. We would highly recommend our experience with Alicja and Krakow4you. They provide a highly personalized service that takes great care of every aspect of the trip.

Though part of the day was very solemn, our guide Alicia Alice, was the best! We talked with her the entire drive, she got to know us and we her. The two of us were picked up on time from our hotel in a very nice car. We started at 11:00am with the Warsaw Ghetto. Walking through it, we were told of the history, little stories of certain areas and buildings, and why things were like they were. This is not a place big tour groups go, so it was nice to be alone on these streets talking history. The chair memorial was very moving. We then drove 1 1/2 hours to Auschwitz.... Alicia walked us through the Birkeknau grounds and filled us with so much detailed information! It was fantastic! Looking in each building, she explained what things were and how it all worked. You can walk through the grounds free, but without someone telling you history and information about each building, it would just be a long walk. The Auschwitz tour is only done by THEIR official tour guides, so our guides arranged a private tour for us late in the day. We joined 3 other people and had a small group tour with the narrator on a headset. Our narrator gave us good information, but we had so much great history from just being at BirkenauIt with Alicia, we more than understood everything he was talking about. Having on a headset was much quieter and solemn and the other people around didn't bother us with their talking. I highly recommend seeing Auschwitz, it is not a joyous experience, but something that reminds us of horrors of the past and how strong people fought to survive. Back on the lighter side, we had lunch with Alicia in the little cafe and talked all the way home. There were huge bus tour groups there, and they all walked in a big mob. I loved having our own private guide to ask questions and go our pace. Alicia is a wealth of information, I would ask for her personally if I ever go back, to see other sights,..not Auschwitz again.

Let me get the negative over first. Our tour guide, Darius, was very pleasant but rather than the people carriers we had become accustomed to, he turned up in a Mercedes saloon car. This would have been fine for a party of 3 - but there were 4 adults in our party, which meant 3 people on the back seat - and the journey from Krakow was about an hour and a half - too far to be squashed in like that! OK - our guide Darius was very knowledgeable and was with us for the personal tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Understandably the content of the tour was quite harrowing at times, but we expected that. It was a very interesting tour and we certainly learned a lot. Darius then transferred us to Auschwitz 1 where we joined official tours around the museum. It was very busy with many people on site which meant at times the different groups kept catching up with one another, making listening to our guide a little difficult at times. But again we learned a lot and the whole tour is something I feel everyone should experience.

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Alicja was a brilliant host - professional, knowledgeable and personable, Alicja went above and beyond to ensure I had the experience I desired at such a sacred site, and also had a few stories to tell that the history books won't teach you some heart-warming tales of survival and escapees which was reserved for the drive home and most welcomed at such a time. Alicja also planned the visit well to avoid the peak crowd times. I visited during the first week of Summer peak season and yet found that I had private moments at Birkenau to reflect and respect, which I am eternally grateful for. I highly recommend paying more for a private tour, and the team at Krakow4you was wonderful. I hope to provide some practical information below to assist you with your trip planning, as I knew little of the site at the time of booking. Please don't take this as insensitive at all. The Auschwitz-Birkenau camps will of course imprint your heart and your soul, as it did mine. I only want you to get the most out of your experience. Aushcwitz refers to the region whereby the camps are located, and is the name given to the town of 'Oswiecim' AUS-WHI-CHEM by the Nazis. There are three camps: Auschwitz I which includes the museum, Birkenau BIER-KEN-NOW which is Auschwitz II, and Monowitz which is Auschwitz III and completely demolished by the Allies...therefore, a site not included in most tours. The drive from Krakow to Oswiecim took approximately 1.2 hours each way. Alicja met me at my hotel and escorted me to a comfortable and luxury vehicle. Snacks and local delicacies were also provided, as well as bottled water. During the drive, there is ample time to ask Alicja any questions you may have for both the day ahead and the history of the site. Birkenau Auschwitz II is the largest of the two camps. There is a lot of walking...a testament to the ghastly size of such a camp. I recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and to pack very little. This took approximately 2.5 hours. Auschwitz Auschwitz I is a smaller camp compared to Birkenau and holds the famed entrance sign Arbeit Macht Frei. The Polish government has done a tremendous job in preserving this site and also making it a museum to educate visitors of it's repulsive and tragic history. It is here that you see the evidence of the Nazi crimes including the vast collections of property stolen from the prisoners upon entering. The museum tour must be given by a museum guide and takes about 2 hours. You can enter on your own accord without a tour only during specific hours...early in the morning and later in the day, but I found the tour guide to be highly knowledgeable and offer information that the signage did not. My tour guide was very skilled at offering historic information with a humane tonality that I believe is truly respectful to the victims and survivors. Alicja can also offer other musuem tours, including more detailed 'study tours' if you so wish. You will need to get in contact to arrange this prior to arrival. I would recommend some personal education on Auschwitz prior to your visit. 'The liberation of Auschwitz' is a documentary that captures the liberation of 7,000 prisoners upon the discovery of the camps by The Soviet Army in 1945. My final word, if I may. I chose not to take a camera to the tour out of respect for the prisoners and also to provide a more intuitive experience. While there were many tourists that brought cameras, I struggle to understand the value of such memories by way of a photograph that can otherwise be seen in books, media and the web. I witnessed tourists taking photos in sacred areas such as the gas chamber, despite signage asking them not to. It was sickening to witness and I hope that this message may inspire future visitors to have a personal experience free of their camera and in doing so, pay respect to the victims. To Alicja and the team at Krakow4you - i am ever grateful to you for providing me with a well-planned and thought-out tour. You added a layer of welcomed charm and warmth with professional and genuine sensitivity to the site. Thank you for this.

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! English speaking driver/guide was on time and ready to go! New Mercedes Benz and extremely knowledgeable guide made this once in a lifetime journey totally complete. Tour included entrance into Auschwitz Museum. My guide was so good/professional that he arranged a quick stop and meal at McDonalds I missed home. I even cancelled my prearranged airport transportation for the next day and hired my guide to take me back to KRK. Great job and was worth every penny I spent!
