En dag i Daintree

Denna utflykt gav oss en bekymmersfri resdag till den avlägsna Daintree-regnskogen. Vår förarguide, Gary, hämtade oss i tid, tog vår lunchbeställning och fick oss att ta oss upp på Captain Cook Highway. Han delade historien om Port Douglas, översvämningar och skador orsakade av cyklonen 2023, och sockerrörsindustrin (bild) . Vid vårt första stopp, Mossman's Gorge, delade han mycket växtbotanik när vi gick längs den förhöjda gångvägen. Sedan på väg till Daintree River, njöt vi av ett morgonte innan en kort kryssning för att upptäcka krokodiler. Vi såg den 15 meter långa krocken som heter Scarface. När vi körde på besökte vi sedan en mycket privat regnskogsled. Gary ledde vägen när han pekade ut varelser och växter och svarade på frågor. Vi går sedan tillbaka till Cooper Creek för en fantastisk lunch och ett dopp. Vi stannade vid Thorton Beach och Daintree Ice Cream Shop innan vi körde tillbaka till Port Douglas. Bästa roliga simningen i Cooper Creek, bästa utbildnings privata regnskogsstopp, bästa natursköna stopp Thorton Beach och bästa guiden Gary. Gary engagerade sig personligen med alla på vägen och gav mycket uppmärksamhet åt barn och våra frågor. Det värsta är mycket körtid som förväntades.

Now, about Scarface … I think there may be a typo there! He is certainly HUUUUUGE, but not that huge! Ha, ha!

Denna resa var den absoluta höjdpunkten under min tid i Port Douglas! Vi blev upphämtade från vår boendedörr i rätt tid. Randall var en fantastisk guide - man kan lätt säga att han var passionerad för Daintree och han var otroligt kunnig om flora, fauna och områdets historia. Gary, guiden som tog hand om den andra gruppen, stoppade oss till och med för att visa oss intressanta saker när han hittade dem och de två grupperna hade korsningar. Det var en hektisk dag men det kändes inte vid något tillfälle förhastat. Randalls fascinerande fakta och berättelser gjorde att körningarna mellan stoppen kändes som om ingen tid alls hade gått. Min familj hade en fenomenal tid och jag rekommenderar helhjärtat denna turné till alla!

They go above and beyond for our guests, and it shows in the many awards we have won as a team. Hade en bra stund. Turnén är mycket välorganiserad, med ett tajt schema men du vet. . ibland inte kan hjälpas, särskilt om det finns så mycket att ta sig igenom. Massor av vackra bilder och underhållande och kunnig guide som fick turen att gå felfritt. Oförglömlig upplevelse

Vi rekommenderar starkt denna turné! Steve vår guide var extremt informativ och vänlig. Det var bra att bara ha en liten grupp. Lunchen i Noah's Valley var utsökt och simningen förtjusande. Promenaderna var lätta nog för de flesta åldrar och vackra landskap!

We agree that the best way to see this magical world heritage listed Daintree National Park is in a small group being lead by an informative, friendly and humorous guide and Steve is one of the best in the area. We are very fortunate to be able to showcase this very special place we call ‘home’ to the many visitors on a daily basis and offer a very private area such as Noah Valley. We seem to have dodged most of ‘wet season’ this year, which is a shame as our Rainforest needs much of it. A remarkable place, guided by the equally remarkable Rod. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Walking is easy. Water is cold!! Only downside was no crocs.

Thank you for the 5 star review Tony. Gary works incredibly hard to ensure everyone has a fantastic, varied day on tour. The Daintree Rainforest is amazing, and I agree that Rod is equally fantastic. What a shame the crocs were hiding, if the water is warm, they can stay hidden. If you come back during the cooler months there is usually several crocs sunbathing on the riverbank. Your recommendation is much appreciated, and I hope you can visit us again soon.

My boyfriend and I booked this tour and it lived up to all expectations! Gary our guide was absolutely fantastic and really made the trip special. He was super knowledgeable and outgoing so we learnt a lot about our surroundings. We were so thrilled so be able to swim in crystal clear water and spot all the wildlife. I’m vegan and they catered for me SO well. I had a delicious morning tea and lunch, and the trip to the Daintree ice cream company was a highlight! Highly recommend to anyone coming to the area. It’s been the highlight of our trip. Thanks Garry!

The entire tour was great and our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. He was very good at spotting the various wildlife and insects. The only thing I would add to others is maybe eat something light before the tour because the morning tea was 3.5 hours in to it. The morning tea and lunch were both great.

Markus our guide was wonderful, caring, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the rainforest and all the fauna and flora. He drove safely and was patient with other drivers on the road whilst still fgetting us to all the most amazing spots. Lunch was substantial and satisfying. We had the best day with Graham and our group. He was so knowledgeable , fun and flexible. We even got to see a crocodile and a Cassowary up close. The sites were beautiful! Lunch was great and ended with a very cool swim. Had delicious ice cream on the way home and a really fun sing-along. Graham was a great sport and helped to make our day outstanding!.

Jurassic Park

Daintree/Mossman gorge is just beautiful. I honestly felt like I walked into the set of Jurassic Park. It is a must see. Our guide Randall was awesome. Filled with lots of knowledge and great jokes.. when we visited there was a lot of damage still from cyclone jasper so much of our tour was closed or rerouted to different areas. Again, Randall did a great job filling in with lots to see and experience. The one thing to be aware of is the crocs were hard to find and see in the summer months. Apparently much easier in the winter so our little river cruise was just ok. The ice cream stop was wonderful. The tour was good, Randall made it much better!!!

You’re right, it surprises people to discover that we often have better luck spotting crocs when the weather is a little cooler, but it is actually harder at this time of year. Rod made the best of our day . We had a lot of rain the night before so we could not swim in the gorge. It was raining so the beach time was limited. However, He bound out of his truck early in the morning like Tigger. He had stories about so much. His wealth of knowledge on everything was impressive. One of the roads to the " Private area" was closed and Rod did not know about this and neither did the company. There was a lot we could not do but he made it informative and enjoyable. He knew we wanted to shop in the visitors center so on the way back he took us. Could be a 6 star with Rod on a nice day

Amazing Small Group Tour

We loved our Daintree Trip so much! Tour guide Rob was very intelligent and could clearly tell he was passionate about the area. Was really nice to have a smaller group too as we really got to know each other well. We were the English couple and we had people from USA, China and Australia which was really nice to listen to each others storys whilst in the tour. For the tour itself we got to see some beautiful spots. Noah's Creek a personal favourite of mine. The dinner was delicious and a lovely dip in coopers creek after was lovely too. We also got to see a baby crocodile which was really cool and a cassowary in the wild. The only negative about the tour is the late notice with pick up times otherwise this would be 5 star. We set our alarm for 7am the evening before as it said the tour was set to pick up at 8:15am. I woke up at 7am to emails and messages saying it was now 7:15! Luckily we both got up quickly and made it in time however I feel this should be adjusted and done the night before to enable people to be properly ready. As I said one negative within so much positive on this tour and I hope people use this company in the future and hopefully this review helps improve the service to 5 star!

Dear Shaun, Thank you so much for your fantastic review, and thank you also for being so generous about what would have been a very rude awakening on the morning for you!! Thank goodness you were able to get prepared quickly for us ... I'm not sure I'd have been able to do the same with such short notice. I absolutely hate rushing, so regardless how this misunderstanding happened, I am really sorry that was the morning you had, and I'm so pleased Rob, lunch, a crocodile and a cassowary were able to redeem us. Shaun, notifying our guests of a time change on the day is absolutely not the experience we want to offer. Ever! Kirsty sent a text and an email on Tuesday morning because our system showed that our previous confirmation email hadn't been read yet and she wanted to be triple-sure everything was confirmed. We check these things each morning. So the messages you received from Kirsty on the day were a bit of a safetynet anyway, a "just in case" measure. Phew, this time it paid off! The thing is, and I've just checked back through our notifications from TripAdvisor/Viator, we always had you booked on our 7:15am starting time for the tour. I'd like to try and work out what might have gone wrong so that I can prevent anybody else from having the same experience. Can I respectfully ask you to double-check the booking email you received from Viator/Tripadvisor and perhaps even forward it to me? Many thanks again for your lovely review. We'd be fibbing if we tried to pretend nothing ever goes wrong, but I'm sure there's a way I can prevent this particular muddle-up from happening again - thank you for letting me know & I look forward to some more details via email if you can help me there.
Disappointing experience

The walks in the Daintree were disappointing. The guide was not very interesting and we could have been in any forested area. The best part of the trip was the lunch. This was excellent.

We do pride ourselves on the quality or our guides and it shows in the many awards and 5 star reviews we have received. Noah's valley and Mossman Gorge are considered to have the oldest continuously living rainforest on the planet. The biodiversity and uniqueness of the plants is almost unmatched anywhere. I'm sorry if your guide didn't portray this. The walks are not hikes but interpretive so normally our guides can't stop talking about the amazing rainforest you walked through. Great to hear you enjoyed lunch and I hope you managed to have a refreshing rainforest river swim in the crystal-clear water at Coopers creak.

Due to the cyclone in December 23’ we were unable to participate in the full experience (missing out on a few of stated itinerary experiences). However, this was not made known at the time of booking and found out at pickup the morning of the tour.

Hello Ryan, Thank you for your review. I do find it concerning however, because the minor changes we made to our tour were up to date on our website, and on TripAdvisor, WELL before you booked Ryan. You made a booking on 3rd Feb and travelled 2 days later. Yes, we had a devastating cyclone last year, followed by extensive flooding in the region and many landslides. Homes and business have been lost, roads and infrastructure are still being repaired. This was huge. A world-wide news story in fact. Since we’ve been able to return to the Daintree the two adjustments we’ve had to make to the itinerary are: we cannot visit Alexnadra Lookout – usually ~a 5 min photo stop on the way home; and the final stretch of road north of Noah Creek to Cape Tribulation (approx. 5kms) remains closed so we spend additional time in the rainforest in Noah Valley instead. I’d love to hear about the experience you *did* have – did you enjoy yourself? Did you like the rainforest? What did you see? How was your guide? Did you learn anything interesting or new? Did you go for a swim? How was lunch? What was the most interesting thing you saw? I assure you that all reviews we receive, whether TripAdvisor or any other platform, are genuine, unsolicited opinions from our guests – which means they absolutely DO reflect the experience had by the reviewer. Even when we aren’t dodging cyclones and flooding, this IS the tropics. Living and working here we get used to weather impacting our plans, and we tend to find most tourists choosing to visit during the wet season have an adventurous sense of understanding of this.
