What To Expect

Make your own way to the dock to board your 37-foot (11.3-metre) Naiad Rigid Inflatable Boat, a vessel designed for conditions in the Southern Ocean, with comfortable seating for up to 24 passengers, full sun protection, and onboard restroom facilities.

Depart from the Granite Island Causeway and cruise slowly between the mainland and the northern side of Granite Island, taking in views of both the Victor Harbor shoreline and the island. Your first stop is Seal Rock, where New Zealand fur seals and Australian sea lions bask on the rocks and swim past your boat.

Continue past the Bluff and Wright Island, and pass through Shark Alley where your captain shares informative commentary about the region's whaling history.

Go past Petrel Cove to West Island, a conservation park that is home to a research station. Most visitors don't venture to this remote area, but it offers a chance to see another colony of seals and sea lions, numerous seabirds, and pods of common and bottlenose dolphins. Head further west to check out the towering cliffs of Kings Beach and Waitpinga before returning to Granite Island.

From June to October, southern right whales migrate through the region. If there have been recent sightings, your captain will steer the boat to locations where you can look for whales, such as Horseshoe Bay and Bashams Beach. Your tour ends with return to your starting point after 1.5 hours.

Great time out on the water - largest pod of dolphins I’ve ever seen! Coastline scenery was spectacular.

I went with big Duck for 1.5 hrs arround Granit Island on Austarlia Day. We started and finished on time. Staff were freindly and has good knowlwdge on the history and the environment and we were allowed to spend resonable time whenever intresing sights come to place. I saw seals sharks and Dolphins while touring arround the granit ilands and the clifts of Victor harbour. Captine was cool and funy.

Amazing tour! Nice guide and so many rare sea friends will be there :) Cool ocean breeze from the boat ride can lead people to feel on the ride of a theme park too! Wanna visit again with my whole family if we visit Victor harbor again

A truly aquatic experience
Pauline_F, Dec 2021
A pod of dolphins was a bonus after having seen many birds and both long-nosed seals and Australian sea lions.
Choppy sea was not what we expected.

I got used to it after a while, though my wife was expecting more of a leisurely cruise. As it was more like a rough ride in a large speed boat, she was terrified. The little rocky islands were interesting with the wildlife. I found it to be a challenging diversion from our mostly peaceful holiday, though my wife would disagree.
Poor communicatin
Tamara_H, Jul 2018
The trip was wonderful! I would highly recommend it! But booking with Viator I do not. The communication is poor, the company did not have my booking and lucky for us they had room for us.
