What To Expect

Step back in time as you visit one of the most impressive ruins of the ancient Mayan civilization at Tikal National Park during this 17-hour day trip. Best of all, you’ll get to visit this one-of-a-kind wonder of the world via a flight from Antigua, saving time during your Guatemala adventure.

Begin your trip with a 3:40am pickup from your hotel in Antigua, before proceeding to Guatemala City’s airport for your flight to the town of Flores in northern Guatemala. Upon your arrival in Flores, a pre-arranged vehicle will transfer you to Tikal National Park (Parque Nacional Tikal), where you’ll begin your exploration of this amazing UNESCO World Heritage site. Covering an area of 341 square miles (550 sq km), this fascinating Mayan city offers a wealth of structures for exploration.

Check out a number of Tikal’s most important buildings with your guide, including the Central Acropolis, containing a labyrinth of interior temples and courtyards, as well as Complex Q and R, home to twin pyramids and intricate religious complexes at their base. You’ll also have time to admire the giant Temple I, also known as the Temple of the Grand Jaguar. This 144-foot (44m) religious structure was built to commemorate the burial of Mayan King Moon Double Comb. Finish your exploration with a stop at Temple II, which has been dubbed the Temple of the Masks.

Take a break to sample a tasty lunch on the grounds of the national park before getting some time to wander the site at your leisure in the afternoon. Then proceed back to Flores airport to catch your flight back to Guatemala City and transfer back to your Antigua hotel.

      A fantastic well organized day
      Philippe_C, Mar 2024
Absolutely everything. Pickups, flights were on time and everything went so smoothly. Our guide and driver was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and absolutely incredible at spotting wildlife in the jungle and no words can give Tikal its dues. Absolutely worth every cent.
Beautiful site in a single day
      Jessica_G, Feb 2024
I had done one other tour through this company in addition to this tour and I had to say they deliver on every item they list in the tour description every time. the communication is great. This was a long day but somehow every part was seamless. Tikal is an impressive site. A must see as a site and a must see with this company!
      A birthday to remember!
      Yasmin_S, Jan 2024
Celebrating my birthday at Tikal was an extraordinary experience. The climb to the top of the 70-meter Temple IV offered breathtaking views and a moment of profound connection with the ancient Maya. The guid, Luis was knowledgeable, bringing the history of this magnificent site to life. Tikal’s vast ruins and rich history as a key Maya civilization site were awe-inspiring. A unique touch was learning my Mayan animal spirit - ‘Ajpu’, enhancing the personal significance of the visit. Highly recommend this tour for a blend of adventure, history, and personal reflection. Thank you for a birthday adventure I’ll always cherish! Pro tips: it was a long day but everything was executed perfectly. Bring cash for tips, breakfast (there is a small restaurant at the Mundo airport), souvenirs and buying drinks inside the park. Bring bug spray, or essential oils, hat, sunscreen, layers, sturdy shoes and extra battery to charge your electronics. We did this from Guatemala City so our pick up was like 4am.
      Thank you for this great...

Efficiently planned and executed day trip for visiting the awe inspiring Mayan archeological site
      Aparna_K, Jan 2024
This day trip was very enjoyable even though it was very long and tiring. The trip planning was meticulous and everything was well coordinated and the place is well worth the visit. The English speaking guide was very knowledgeable and paced out the 4 Hr. hike in the forest pretty well. The vegetarian options for lunch were well thought out and delicious. Overall we enjoyed this day trip and had no complaints. For people who don't mind splitting their stay, its advisable to stay the night in Flores instead of doing the back and forth in the same day. For us, all the moving parts aligned with no delays or cancellations or no-shows and hence it worked out well. Also, the dry weather season helped to make this trip enjoyable.
      Exceptional Tour of Tikal!
      Perry_A, Dec 2023
Amazing trip. All transpiration and connections were spot on! Drivers and tour guide were all courteous, professional and helpful. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Tikal National Park, as well as of Mayan history and culture. His attention to detail was exceptional and was very interested in sharing with those in this very small group tour (only 5 in our group). I had been to Tikal previously, but this was an exceptional experience. 5-Stars!
      The tour planning was mismanaged
      hemalddesai, Dec 2023
The guide I had requested was English speaking but I was added to a Spanish group So I had to do tour on myself without guide It was stressful with no one to reach out as there was no signal and the guide was not helpful
Long way to go (from Antigua), but well worth it
      Michael_M, Nov 2023
I chose to use Antigua as my base of operations and was not about to leave Guatemala without seeing Tikal. So, took this trip from Antigua to Tikal in one day. Up at 3:00 am for a 3:40 shuttle to the airport in Guatemala City, plane to Flores, shuttle to Tikal, and reversed for the evening return. I was exhausted by the time I got back to Antigua (8:30 p.m.). With hindsight I might have stayed overnight in Flores. However, Tikal was fantastic. Our guide seemed to off the beaten path a lot, walking through jungle paths to get to the next ruin. He was very informative and spoke excellent English. The ruins are magnificent, but spread over quite a bit of space, so if you have trouble walking, there might be a problem. You are able to climb some of the pyramids, with the climb not so bad (although steep). We were fortunate that it did not rain (early November) .... was told it rained the entire day before. We did have bout 20 minutes of rain as we left but by that time I didn't care (I had the photos and memories I wanted). Altogether, an excellent experience (albeit tiring).
      One in a lifetime experience

Our tour guide Erdo was absolutely amazing. He was so passionate about everything and so knowledgeable that it made everything that much more enjoyable. It was a really long day but it was worth it 100%
Majestic views that cannot be missed!!!
      Vicky_M, Aug 2023
I just love the level of organization and the quality of service received. We traveled from Antigua to Tikal and the drive and flight went smooth. Our guide was so knowledgeable and extremely respectful of the culture and heritage of the Maya people. This was a great tour and we are definitely going back to spend time on this part of Guatemala.
      Mayan Ruins in One Day
      Erica_L, Jul 2023
This was a long day but a really fun day! We left from Antigua at 3:40 in the morning to head to the airport. Getting through traffic and security was a breeze for the short flight. Our guide was an expert at not only Titlan but Mayan history as well. He's been giving tours of Tikal for over 34 years and his father was part of the original excavation team with the university of Pennsylvania. Though it was very hot and steamy, we had some reprieve in the middle of the day with a light rain. Walking the grounds of Tikal can be done by most anyone, I will say, climbing the stairs for the various temples was a bit physically taxing so just be prepared for a good workout. All in all, it was an incredible day and I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Antigua.
      Better than I expected!
      Frenchon_B, Apr 2023
This was a great tour. The driver Henry was amazing. The tour guide was second to none. I couldn’t be more pleased with this company. I will look for you guys in other cities too
      Wonderful trip with 11 people
      Megan_G, Mar 2023
We had a group of 11 people. Adults down to a 7 year old. It was a great experience. From booking, our driver picking us up, the flight, the driver and guide, the tour, and lunch. Can not say enough about how well this went. The communication was very thorough and would absolutely do it again!!!!
      Do it!
      Todd_S, Mar 2023
Though it was a long day it was well worth the trip. An absolute must see. Amazing history right before your eyes. Our guide was so informative.
      Trip to Tikal
      Houston_S, Mar 2023
Great guide! The lunch was fantastic. Overall great experience! Met really interesting people and had a wonderful time.
Add this to your itinerary, now
      Michael_B, Feb 2023
Everything runs so smoothly. Tour guide was great! A guy who loves what he does and has been doing it for decades. He described all the plant life and spotted animals out of nowhere! I got to see a group spider monkeys, howler monkeys, even 2 toucans! And the temples along with all the surrounding areas have a history that you won’t begin to understand without a guide. Don’t even question it. If you’re going to be in Antigua, go ahead and book this for one of your days. It’s a serious no-brainer. I was a solo traveler and never felt alone. Can’t recommend this enough.
      Amazing
      Daniel_J, Nov 2022
The tour guide was awesome! Tikal is a beautiful place and will visit again. I will come again and again!
      Sr. Lopez is the best!
      Morgan_B, Aug 2022
Very easy to book and everything was taken care of! A lot of moving parts for everyone involved but they handled everything with ease. Sr. Lopez was phenomenal, very passionate about the history of Tikal and knowledgeable. Our trip wouldn’t have been the same without his guidance!
      Great activity.
      Carlos_T, Aug 2022
The most memorable moment was the opportunity I had traveled 🧳 from antigua Guatemala to Tikal with my family. Everything was perfect and safe, on time, and the lunch was so delicious.
