Nikos was absolutely amazing. He knew his stuff and taught us so much. This isn't just a street art tour, it's a tour of architecture, history and politics of Greece. So fascinating and so worthwhile to see a different side of Athens.

This was a very fun and interesting walking tour. We considered trying to look up well know street art pieces and trying to do this on our own but I’m really glad we did the tour instead as we would never have found everything Antigone showed us, nor would we have learned about the different artists. We happened to be in Athens on a really hot day and we were a little wilted by the end but so glad we did the tour. I loved seeing the different neighborhoods too

We waited 15 min for 2 girls who were drunk. Rude for us an inexcusable for the office to ask us to wait. Of course we don’t want to be jerks and say no. Then they arrived drunk and disruptive in the tour. The guide did a great job of keeping them in check but it affected my experience. The guide was knowledgeable and did a great job.

It was a great tour. We met interesting people from Europe and Israel. We explored unique parts of the city that we might not have found on our own. You see a great variety of types of street art from public service messages, to cultural visions, to commercials, and tags. Our guide was a street artist but didn't force his perspective on us, he gave us context but also asked for our perspectives. Bring good walking shoes, a few euros for a coffee/soda and a good camera.

Athens has more than Acropolis and Plakya. This is an AMAZING tour of street art by noted and not-so-noted street artists, with a GREAT narrative from Nikos that covers the art, the politics and Greek history. Don't miss this! The walk is not long and easy. One of the best things we did during our two weeks in Greece.

We were part of a small group to see various street art around Athens. Nikos was fabulous, explaining the artists that have emerged from Greece and the significance of some of the art details. Halfway through the tour, we stopped at a small place for refreshments. This was very enjoyable for my husband, son (age 14) and me. Highly recommend it!

Our guide, Nicholas, was interesting, attentive, engaging, and informative. He had selected art to clearly show difference between street art and graffiti or gang graphics like we have in the USA. I look forward to returning to USA and studying graffiti to find street art gems. I hope i do find some street art.

The tour guide was nice. The tour consisted mostly of looking at commercialized graffiti and did not really look at the local artwork. Most of the graffiti was part of ads that were commissioned. At one point, I pointed out that the graffiti piece was a wheat paste. The tour was 3 hours and contained a half hour break at a local bar. A ten minute break for a 3 hour tour would have been enough. I signed up for the tour because my son wanted to see the local graffiti art and he was disappointed. I was disappointed that as a parent who knows very little about graffiti art except for what I have learned on tours with my son, that I did not really learn anything new and that I was the one to point out a wheat paste.

Creativity in Crisis Full review with dozens of photos on my blog!! Link in profile :- I took the street art tour with Achilles on basically the Greek equivalent of Labor Day. I selfishly chose that day because most shops, museums, and sites were closed, thus limiting my options in Athens. I had been to Athens several times before, and was looking for something a little more off the beaten path. This tour certainly delivered!! I saw the less touristy areas of Gazi and Metaxourgeio with a very tiny group 3 our guide on such a quiet day due to the holiday. Achilles is a street artist himself, thus increasing the level of insight and knowledge he brings to the tour. Sure, you will see street art on your own on even the briefest of visits to the Athens center, but learning about the artists and history behind some of the pieces adds a new dimension and appreciation. Like reading the placards alongside museum pieces, a tour guide provides the stories and insight for a fuller understanding. Achilles gave me a great foundation for spotting other pieces on my own......both later that week and again later in the summer upon a return trip. Would definitely consider another tour with Alternative Athens in the future!
