Dramatically situated on the coastal cliffs of Cape Sounion, overlooking the Aegean Sea, the Temple of Poseidon is one of the most evocative sites of ancient Greece and a top visitor attraction. The magnificent monument dates back to 444 BC, but today, all that remains is a series of gleaming white marble columns, standing proudly atop the cape.

Picture perfect day in the Aegean
We had a fantastic day- the kayaking was a lot of fun in the waves, we got to swim, and had a delicious Greek lunch of fresh seafood. The Temple of Poseidon is also a fascinating site with an beautiful location. Gabriel, our driver, and Ares, our kayak guide, shared lots of stories about the area and taught us some Greek. Perfect weather too. Logistics worked very well for us as a day excursion from our cruise.

Everything was wonderful. The drive up the coast was amazing. Our driver brought cookies and a drink.
Great trip up the coast to see Temple of Poseidon. Dinner on the water at sunset was perfect. Perfect after a long day if air travel.

Great mid-day tour outside of Athens. Our guide was friendly and fun. She pointed out some spots, like the beautiful cultural center, that we would have never thought to visit. Temple of Poseidon was worth the trip and we enjoyed our lunch at the top!
