What To Expect

Explore one of Spain's most important religious sites at Montserrat Monastery (Abadia de Montserrat). The spot offers sublime views, a variety of religious artifacts, and insight into the history and spiritual traditions of this region of Spain.

Begin your excursion by boarding an air-conditioned coach in central Barcelona, continuing on a ride through the scenic landscapes of Catalonia on your way to Montserrat. Your guide provides details about the region's history as you go, offering details about Montserrat Mountain and the monastery that lies near its peak.

Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, climb aboard your choice of a cogwheel train or the Aeri de Montserrat cable car, enjoying panoramic views along the way. Keep your camera handy for great shots of the mountain's unique rock formations with Catalonia spread out below you.

Arrive at Santa Maria de Montserrat, the Benedictine abbey that occupies the mountaintop. You’ll check out the Basilica de Montserrat and get priority access to a wooden carving of Our Lady of Montserrat, a sacred object also known as La Moreneta or the Black Madonna.

Spend some free time exploring the grounds at your leisure, stopping at the monastery gift shop for a tasting of four monastic liqueurs. Then board your coach for the return trip.

Monserrat in a rush
Antonio_S, May 2024
It was beautiful but the trip was very rushed. The tour guide was knowledgeable but short tempered. The bus driver was excellent and careful his name was Sergio.
Best tour
Casmira_F, May 2024
Beautiful place very scenic. We took the 3pm tour, got held up in traffic for an hour. We had to rush to see the Black Madonna and then missed out on the liquor tasting as the store closed at 6 pm which was very disappointing. I think this tour should begin at 2 pm to avoid disappointment. To sum it all, this tour is a must if you plan your n visiting Barcelona. Our guide Enrique was the best
Great experience

This is a beautiful place that you don't want to miss. One of the most beautiful churches you will ever walk into.
Non existent
Brian_F, May 2024
After talking with several taxi drivers trying to get to the location which no one was able to find we ran out of time and missed the meeting time and missed out on the excursion. I reached out to the guides we recieved no help or options other than booking again at a different time. Complete waste of time and money
Montserrat

I would have given the tour a 5 if it wasn't for the half hour delay in departing to our destination. Our bus was 30 min late; half an hour doesn't seem like much, however on a half day tour, 30 minutes is the difference between having or not having personal time during the outing. Montserrat is a lovely trip. The location itself is so pretty and the structures quite impressive. Our guide was Miri and she is great, provided interesting information in a clear and concise manner. We did the half day tour and for those with time constraints, a half day is fine. Dress appropriately, it was windy and chilly during our visit.
A bit disappointing, it's better to come on a clear day
Ana_V, May 2024
The weather was cloudy, and there was no views from the mountain. Everything was wrapped in white fog. Waiting time for entrance to the basilica is rather long. Overall, it is probably better to come from Barcelona by train on one's own on a cloudless day.
Efficient trip
Kym_M, Apr 2024
Although it was rainy and heavy clouds this operation was run smoothly. They made sure everyone was on the right bus, with their correct tour guide and made sure we did not leave anyone behind.
Look elsewhere
Geoffrey_S, Apr 2024
It was a waste of money, to be honest. Weather was bad, which they can’t help, but WOW it was worthless. We were taken there and essentially told to find your way to the bus by 6:15 or you’re on your own. Didn’t learn anything.
Underwhelming
Summer_S, Apr 2024
Sasha was very nice and friendly. The cable car was cool, but a lot of waiting without many fun historical facts.
Don't
Harold_E, Apr 2024
Driver late. Tour guides uninformed and arrogant . No one I Spoke on the tour was happy. Too many mishaps. Won't be booking with Julia travels again .
Breathtaking A Must
Yolanda_T, Apr 2024
Excellent a must do if you’re in Barcelona breathtaking, I probably should’ve booked a longer one, I forgot his name our tour guide but I was on the bus #19 he was great very informative and the bus very comfortable.
Transportation sucked
Mindy_H, Apr 2024
The bus left 45 minutes late, which caused us to miss a chance to go to the museum. The pickup bus afterwards was 20 minutes late and everything was closed so we stayed there. Loved seeing it, but too many issues with the transportation.
Breathtaking heights
Gareth_M, Apr 2024
A great trip with our.little family. The trip was well organised, well-timed and what a fantastic place to visit. Make sure you take enough time to walk around to see the things you specifically want to experience. Rendezvous with the bus was slightly hit and miss, so be sure to ask for exact directions. Was a good outing!!
Awesome day!!
Rose_C, Apr 2024
Guide was good, easily understood, informative, pleasant. Was able to view everything well, he answered all questions, made sure we got extra time.
Excellent tour
abbas_a, Apr 2024
Excellent tour for visiting montserrat. After guided tour is over, we had more than time to roam around and spend quality time. Must visit place and we were lucky to have a full clear skies on that day.
Not helpful
Charne_B, Apr 2024
We got a little bit lost on the way and arrived at 3pm, instead of 2.45 as written in the small print, which was our fault. The bus had left, which again, was our fault. What upset us was that the guides just rudely said we missed the trip, they did not try to help us further. We asked could we book a taxi and join the trip but they said no, we cant help you. They were so negative and unhelpful considering they are a tour company.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Charne_B Thank you for sharing this review, I regret to learn that you could not join the Montserrat tour by not attending the meeting point before the starting time, Please note we request the customers to arrive 15 minutes before the tour to try to avoid this type of situation as the tour starts at 15:00h, Out of respect to customers arriving on time the tour can not be delayed, As indicated on your agency website, arriving late might mean losing the tour, Sincerely,
This site is beautiful...
David_N, Apr 2024
This site is beautiful and the tour manager provide enough free time for us to explore the place. Everything is on time.
