What To Expect

This all day Pearl Harbor tour from Kona departs from Kona airport, before making the short, 30-minute flight to Honolulu International Airport.

From here you’ll transfer to nearby Pearl Harbor, site of the 1941 attack that suddenly put the US at war. You’ll visit the somber Arizona Memorial by crossing Pearl Harbor in a launch boat, and see the spot where thousands of sailors still rest in a watery grave. You’ll walk the decks of the USS Missouri, which in 1945 was the spot where the Japanese officially surrendered to the Allies, and gain a strong sense of history at this storied and infamous spot.

The history continues on a tour of Honolulu, where you’ll visit exquisite Kawaihao Church — or 'Westminster Abbey of the Pacific' — and see Iolani Palace where Queen Liliuokalani was illegally overthrown. Visit the statue of King Kamehameha as well as Honolulu Hale, and finish your Pearl Harbor tour from the Big Island at Punchbowl National Cemetery, which along with the neighboring Courts of the Missing remembers the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while fight in World War II.

Trip to Pearl Harbor
Mary_A, Apr 2024
I had a terrible experience with the Polynesian Adventure Tours. Almost wasn't able to fly to or from Honolulu. They messed up our flights coming and going. Had trouble with the tour guide on our bus. He had people roaming all over the place where they were supposed to only drop off their bags. The rest of us sat on the bus for over 45 minutes while we waiting for the people to be found and come back to the bus. There was not enough time to view the Missouri and eat our lunch. Had to grab lunch and take it back to the bus to eat after the Arizona exhibit. The tour itself was a wonderful experience - but I do not recommend Polynesian Adventures!!!!

Thank you for the feedback - we have shared it with our team for appropriate follow up. Mahalo.

Communication up to and during was excellent, could not have been better. Uncle Mike, the Tory bus driver, was friendly, informative and funny and made the experience even better.
A bucket list experience in a lifetime

The Arizona memorial and the battleship Missouri were breathtaking. They are so inspirational. The education value of the memorial was of the highest quality.. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The narrators on the Missouri were quick to assess and find remedies for physical limitations. The narrators ability to convey vast amounts of information was outstanding. It was an unforgettable experience. The extra information shared by our tour guide was was an exceptional bonus that made the trip even more memorable.

The Arizona monument was sobering & is an important site to visit. Sad that we didn’t have the time to visit the submarine exhibit. Visiting the Missouri battleship was interesting. Wish the weather had been better.
Loved it, worth the money! Thanks Ernie for the flower!

The Arizona was a beautiful memoriall, sad. We like boarding the Missouri and checking it over. We enjoyed the drive tour of Honolulu and the many stops. Was hoping to go to a shop for purchases. Ernie was great, knowledgeable and funny.
Flight from Oahu to kona. Should have been booked
Randy_N, Feb 2023
Flight back to kona should have booked for the 6:00 instead of the 8:00 flight. We were at airport at 430
Informative and flexible

The tour guide was great. He was accommodating to people that needed to leave early and dropped us off at a different spot so we could get more sightseeing in. I learned a lot and have a renewed respect for all who serve this country.
Definitely a must see

There truly are no words for the Memorial. The emotions that flood in as you enter the Arizona are so raw and so real. I would have given this 5 stars however our trip was shadowed by our tour driver allowing his politics to taint the tour…
Really great

We had the best guide ever . Give him a raise. He had praised his employer throughout the trip.

Our guide deserves a 10. The Arizona was sad and wrapped with multiple emotions. The Missouri was astonishing to me . The staff very informative and professional .
Don't Do It
Alice_P, May 2019
This trip cost over $1000 for two people. To start off, the night before the trip, we received call telling us to be at the airport at 5:30am instead of 6am. Our plane from Kona didn't leave until 7:15... called the tour folks and they didn't know why we were told that. Arrived in Oahu and were met by a young girl and didn't have much info other than the bus was little behind due to traffic. The first bus arrived 45 mins later and we were told it was not our bus and the other couples got on this bus. Another 30 mins later, another bus arrived but we then find out it is not our bus and the first bus that came was our bus! They were nice enough to take us to our destination to meet up with our group but by that time we had missed a majority of tour of Pearl Harbor. We did get to to tour the Missouri ship but we were pretty upset by then. Called the tour number and they were most unhelpful. Then we had the tour of Honolulu which was just okay and then dropped off at 2:00 PM by the mall until 5:00pm. Bus came back, almost died 3 times (had to pull over so the bus could "rest") and made it to the airport by 6, and of course our plane did not leave till 8:30pm. The company's response was to offer another tour on the island we are staying but by that time we did not trust we would get a good tour. So, still upset that this tour that was a focal point of our long awaited vacation was such a disappointment.

It was pricey but well worth the inter-island transfer. We were coming from Kona to Honolulu then got picked up at the airport. My only gripe was the confusion and miscommunication during departure at Kona airport. We were told that a representative from the company will meet us at Kona airport to give us our boarding passes the day before we confirmed the tour. However, there was no one at the airport and the company didn't tell us that it was self serve and we will print our own boarding passes at the kiosk during check in. We almost missed our flight. Luckily, we got a phone call from a young woman at the Honolulu side confirming our arrival time with us, then she quickly advised to check in and print our boarding passes. Almost missed the boarding time by 5 minutes! Otherwise, the tour and everything at Honolulu was great and the flight back home. Our driver and tour guide was a nice lady sorry forgot her name and got us at the airport on time for our flight back to Kona.

Once again, Viator did not disappoint! This was an amazing guided tour. Our tour driver, Ernie, was incredibly knowledgeable, very witty with his homemade jokes, and provided a wealth of information about the Island. We were picked up at the airport and traveled in an air conditioned small bus. Ernie had a vast wealth of knowledge about Hawaii, her people, the memorial, different buildings, places and things. He is a native and knows many people so he was able to get us front and center of every spot we visited including a fabulous lunch at Duke's overlooking Waikiki Beach. It was, truly, a moving history lesson peppered with humor, facts and historic events. Visiting Pearl Harbor has long been on my list of places to visit and this tour went above and beyond my expectations.

The trip was fantastic and Ernie was a great tour guide!! The only issue we had was not receiving detailed instructions on how to join the tour group - nobody met us at the airport gate. We called the 800 number and then we found our group.

Loved the tour and I learnt so much about the history of Pearl Harbour. The Missouri was also a highlight. I recommend this day trip to any visitor to Hawaii

I was humbled and delighted by this tour. Information on the tour was a little sketchy so I was very pleased that I was easily checked in at Kona Airport after driving from Hilo. The Polynesian Adventure representative had my name and directed me to the bus that took us to Pearl Harbor. Kanolel, our guide, was both knowledgeable and charming. He knew that if he got us started at Pearl Harbor, the site would take care of itself. I wished our visit to the site could have been longer allowing time to tour the submarine but the museums were so engrossing that there wasn't time. I would have traded the Honolulu site seeing for that in a heartbeat. The trip to Ford Island and the Mighty MO was an unexpected pleasure. I had never bee n on a military ship at all, no less one so famous. To stand where the surrender document was signed and hear the respective stories of both that and the Zero pilot's burial made me feel proud of our leaders of the time. The contributions of political, military and bad luck in the events of that day have many parallels to our current day situation with North Korea. Those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it..

Jay was our guide and he was awesome. A wealth of knowledge. The day trip is a great way to experience Pearl Harbor and some local historical sites as well as Waikiki beach. Unfortunately the day we toured Pearl Harbor the winds were too strong to be tendered out to the Arizona. The downside of the trip was that we had to wait in the morning over an hour at the Honolulu airport for additional tourists in our group to arrive and then at the end of the day our flight leaving Honolulu was an hour and a half after others in our group.

This was a great tour. Tour guide Ernie was very knowledgeable but would have liked more time at Pearl Harbor and the Missouri and less time in Waikiki.
