Mawande was the perfect tour guide. He broke up our journey to the safari with an amazing view of the penguins and a delicious afternoon brunch. Very kind and considerate about needing stops for drinks, snacks, etc. very attentive. He is filled with so much knowledge about the culture and shared amazing facts along the way- he even played some traditional African music for us! He truly gave us such a memorable experience and you can tell he is very passionate which made it so amazing.

Amazing trip with an even better tour guide

Our trip was amazing! The safari was wonderful - we saw lots of beautiful animals and stayed in a very cute hut - and the stops along the way were great too. But the best part of our weekend by far was our amazing tour guide, Mawande. He not only educated us on the places we visited and passed through but also openly shared his experiences of post-Apartheid South Africa, which was very eye opening. Mawande is an incredibly knowledgable and friendly guy and we had the best weekend with him!

Loved the 2-day experience. Vaughan, our driver and guide, was fantastic. The drive was long but he made several stops and made the ride entertaining (and I really enjoyed seeing the changes in landscape etc). The accommodation at the reserve is superb and we managed to see many animals, it was truly special. Please remember to bring warm clothes, even if the weather during the day is good (on the second day, you leave with the ranger at 7am).

5* experience everyone should experience. Firstly our driver and guide Benjamin was amazing, it's a long drive on both days. Benjamin kept us entertained, made sure we had enough toilet and refreshment stops on the way. Then when we got to the lodge, he made sure we were settled in and that everything was with our meals and drives. The lodge was beautiful and the restaurant food and staff were amazing. We had two guides for our evening and morning drives, thank you so much Robyn and Sune- they had soo much knowledge about each animal and answered all our questions. A must do experience when visiting Cape Town, 10 out of 10

I’ll start by saying that the guide I had was fantastic, Frank was extremely polite and made the tour seamless and entertaining. He’s an asset to his company. The overall tour is great and I would recommend this to anyone who is on a tight schedule and wants to see a lot. Why this doesn’t get 5 stars, would be due to the Game Lodge itself. The chalets are very dated with uncomfortable beds and I was quite disappointed that I didn’t have a view of the reserve, as when I was booking this and looking at the photos I was led to believe my view wouldn’t be completely obstructed by trees. I would also say that the food isn’t the best here, breakfast was good but everything else was lacklustre. With a little bit of work from the Game Lodge, this would be a 5 star experience as the safari/drives with the team were amazing.

Great trip - loved seeing the animals and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable - any question we asked or comment we made about the animals, they were able to share more insight which made for a great learning experience.

The safari and game drives is truly incredible. We saw 4 of the big 5 and the game drive guides were so knowledgeable. Being so close to the animals was incredible but the other amenities really made it truly memorable. Stopping for sunset for a glass of wine and snacks in the middle of the reserve, a beautiful pool and restaurant, turn down service in the rooms! Just great. The reasons this wasn’t five stars: traveling. Dylan was our guide through Bok Bus and his driving through Cape Town and out to Hemanas actually made me car sick. Total travel time you spend about 9 hours in a very cramped van (if you’re in a larger group). All of the stops are great so the travel time is necessary, it just needs better traveling accommodations. Also, you’re not guaranteed a Chalet at the lodge. Half of the group got the single standing Chalet’s that overlook the reserve. the others (including me) got the apartment style that have no view and paper thin walls. Overall, I would book again but instead book directly with the lodge and stay 2 nights so that I can see the giraffes.

Driver Dylan was excellent. Strongly recommend Bokbus who ran the trip. Lodge and staff superb. Game drives were wonderful. We had a truly wonderful time.

Christopher was an excellent, knowledgeable guide and made the journey very pleasant. The Safari tour was as much as we could have hoped for within a relatively short distance of Cape Town. We were able to get fairly close to elephants, rhinos, hippos, zebras, and even see a lion not too far in the distance. The stops at Hermanus and Cape Agulhas further enriched the 2 day experience and nicely broke up the drive.

A jam packed adventure on the garden route. Nicely organized stops for restrooms and food including whales at Hermanus. Beautiful accommodation, food, wine and of course the big 5 did not disappoint along with all the other animals. Our guide Christopher was amazing and full of knowledge. Great scenic drive and a stop at Cape Alguhas on the way back. Definitely reccomend it for others.

I didn't know what to expect on this 2 day trip but from start to finish Chris (our guide) delivered. On the way to the game reserve we saw whales and stopped by quaint shops. Chris told us the history of Cape Town and South Africa as well so I learned a lot. The game reserve itself was beautiful and we each had our own bungalows. The dinner and breakfast were all beyond what I expected. The safari guide (Hanre) was very knowledgeable and knew all the good spots to get great views of the wildlife. I would easily go on this tour again and you can't beat the price for everything you get

Two great days

We had the two day safari trip with bokbus in September, Chris was our guide from Cape Town for the whole two days and was fantastic giving us insight into SA and showing us places enroute to the game park eg Cape Agula where the atlantic and indian ocean meet, Hermanus where you can see whales. The safari it self was well organised and our ranger Tim was very knowledgeable and we saw virtually every animal that the group wanted to observe. The lodge we stayed in was great and was better then some hotel rooms we have had. The food, wine and service at the game reserve was excellent with plenty of choice and variety.

Totally worth it! Benjamin was a great guide. Supportive, kind and caring.. The lodge was amazing.. very modern and clean hotel. Guides were amazing.. animals were happily roaming in lot of space.. a great vibe.. dinner and breakfast were also very nice..
