Mediocre Walking Tour

Our tour was postponed the night before to a later time slot which was disappointing. The guide was very informative. I enjoyed learning about the history and culture. Seeing the sloths and monkeys in the park was a highlight. We were the only ones on the tour and the pace was way too slow. We wish he proactively offered to take a photo at least once. We also disliked how we stopped at a few places trying to sell us things. That would have been more understandable on a free tour.

We had a great time on the walking tour. Our guide Legaxy was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and personable. Would definitely recommend tours with Lefaxy.
It was a walk…without a tour

English Speaking tourists: skip this tour. You can do this 15 minute walk by yourself for free. It’s a cash grab and entirely unnecessary. You’ll learn all of nothing, except how much you need to tip everyone approaching you. No history of the buildings and no Spanish influence context. It is quite literally some guy walking you to places you need to tip people…oh! But with free lemonade…spend your money anywhere else.

Hi, Claudia! We are sorry the experience wasn't as you expected, however we allow ourselves to say: We are surprised on your review, because we have a standar tour of 2.5 hours that covers the highlights and history of the Walled City and Getsemaní. Therefore, we cover all the spanish influence and the history of conquest, colony and independance. Also, architecture plays an important role in our tours. However, if you as a costumer had any doubts or questions regarding any topic, they are always welcome and your tour guide would had happily answered them. Also, we include some recommendations, while having some refreshing stops to invite you water, lemonade, etc. Finally, we feel sad, because this review doesn't represent how the tour was done and we feel it was more because we refused to reschedule the tour when you asked to do it 20 minutes before the starting time of the tour. We still hope you had an amazing time in Cartagena and that you enjoyed the recommendations made on the tour.

The walking tour was thorough and educational. Dimas is very knowledgeable and a wonderful guide. He grabbed water for us and allowed us to spend more or less time in different places for photos, etc. We wouldn’t have gotten as much out of the experience if we went by ourselves/without Dimas. If you book this tour, know that you will be in for a great time! Best to wear sunscreen and walking shoes and come with a cold drink and a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes/face.

Our tour guide , Mercedes , was wonderful. We did this tour upon arrival. She gave us much advice about local customs, restaurants and attractions, local food and drinks, how to deal with people that approach you, general tips for safe traveling, the history of this beautiful place, politics and of course- a tour of Getsemani and the walled city. Wow! We had the best time and she was so generous. Bonus- we fed the monkeys!!

First we were picked up at our hotel, which was about 25 min outside of the city. It was a nice drive in and the driver answered any question we had. We were dropped off with our guide Alvaro. It was very hot and he made sure we were in the shade as much as possible. Alvaro gave us a lot of important information regarding the history of Cartagena and its founding members. We saw a sloth ,monkeys and a iguana. But probably the best of what Alvaro did was to go with the flow when we started to ask him where to buy coffee and a colombia hat. This wasn't part of the tour, bit he showed us a little shoo and I was able to find a hat at a better deal that I expected. Then he took us to a coffee shop that we specifically asked to see. During all this Alvaro waited patiently. I think we sidetracked him from his original plan. But he didn't say a thing. Alvaro then showed us a good place to eat, and the food was fantastic and very inexpensive. After the tour he left us to explore Catragena, but making sure that if we needed him, just to call. It was a fantastic day!

So our original tour guide was unavailable and I was told that we had a new guide name Eddie from (Samaria tours). Eddie was fantastic 👏..he was very knowledgeable and made the experience so much greater..He even recommended a nice seafood restaurant for us to have dinner at. This is a must do tour. You see so much history and culture in that area!

Our walking tour of Getsemani and the old town was absolutely. We LOVED Dimas… he was a wonderful and most enjoyable guide for us. I appreciated that our tour was leasurely so that I could take lots of pictures. We ended the day with a fabulous dinner at a local restaurant. Our day in Cartagena could not have been better!
