What To Expect

After pickup from your Dubai hotel, set off on your morning city tour by comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. En route, learn how today’s city began as a small fishing port on Dubai Creek before quickly rising to prosperity during the mid-20th-century oil boom.

Stop first at Dubai Museum, housed in 18th-century Al Fahidi Fort in the city’s heritage area. Trace Dubai’s past through the displays, and then ride a wooden abra water taxi across Dubai Creek.

Then head to the Jumeirah district, where upscale villas and hotels hold sway. See the gleaming modern domes of Jumeirah Mosque, and stop for photos by Jumeirah Beach and the Burj Al Arab, the stunning sail-shaped hotel set on an artificial island.

After your tour and a drop-off back at your hotel, enjoy ample free time to have lunch (own expense) and relax before a mid-afternoon 4x4 pickup for your desert trip.

Hop inside a 4x4 with a professional driver and head into the UAE interior. Then, go off road for a dune bash. After hurtling up and down the sands, stop for desert photos and try out the latest desert sport: sandboarding.

As the sun sets, arrive at a Bedouin-style desert camp, and enjoy a traditional Arabian welcome of tea and sweets, together with activities such as camel riding and falconry displays. Then, after admiring the magical sunset views, enjoy a buffet barbecue dinner served with unlimited sodas, water, tea, and coffee.

Finish by relaxing in a traditional, cushion-strewn majlis seating area, and watching a sparkling belly dancing show and whirling dervish-style tanoura performance.

Your trip concludes with a drop-off at your Dubai hotel.

The desert safari part of this tour...

The desert safari part of this tour was awesome....thrilling sand dune bashing, great dinner and BBQ meal, and wonderful entertainment. Well worth it. The city tour was far too rushed and somewhat of a disappointment, although we got to drive by a number of interesting sights in Dubai. A good overview. At the Dubai Museum we had to walk as quickly as possible through the exhibits, we didn't get to read any of the information or really take in the displays. The stop at the carpet store was totally a waste of time....we all sat through the presentation and several awkward minutes afterwards, with an unrealistic expectation to spend hundreds of dollars while on a tour. We did stop at a wonderful beach and boardwalk area, where we could have had more time....again, rush, rush, rush. So, I would recommend you do the Desert Safari for sure, but find a more personalized or full day tour of the city.

This tour has 2 parts - 1 Dubai City Tour, and 2 Desert Safari. The 2 stars represent the average of these two tours. 1 Dubai City Tour - 0 star. This city tour is poorly organized and should be avoided. We were supposed to be picked up from the hotel by 9:30 am. At 9:30am, I got a text message from the agent that the tour bus was broken down, and that we would be given a private car and a private tour instead. When we got down to the lobby, the tour guide from a tour bus had our names, and said he was not aware of any bus breakdown?! So we were confused and left with the tour guide. BUT, this tour guide did not take us for the boat ride or the Jumeirah mosque. Instead, we had a surprise stop not in the itinerary at a gallery where the salespersons were trying to sell us everything. Additionally, at the Dubai Museum and the beach to see Burj Al Arab, we were told to be back in 20 mins. When we promptly returned to the meeting point, the tour guide was not even there. When he showed up, he told us that while we were on time, the rest of the tourists are from India and he gave everyone 20 minutes in the anticipation that those tourists from India would come back in 45 mins. And because they were not on time, we could not see all other sites as promised. It was a waste of time and money. Do not join this city tour but take the metro to see it yourself instead. 2 Desert Safari - 4 stars. Our afternoon tour was much better. We were picked up on time. The safari ride in the 4X4 was a blast and we had loads of fun. The camel ride and the evening dance performances were fantastic. It was a wonderful way to wrap up the day.

I have only given this four stars based on the morning City Tour guide being half an hour late picking us up with no apology or explanation. The Desert Safari was brilliant and our guide Sameer was an excellent driver, great fun, great entertainment and reasonable food.

City tour was more like a taxi ride...

City tour was more like a taxi ride that included a few stops. The morning driver was great, the Desert safari drivers not so much. They did not speak much English and did not communicate with passengers. The SUV itself was very old with damaged and deteriorated seat cushions. The desert ride was fun rollercoaster like. The entertainment portion of the BBQ was fantastic with talented dancers and performers A, the BBQ dinner not so much. The meats were served ice cold and the rest of the food was average. The hookah area was nice and free. Overall this is a MUST DO while in Dubai but make sure the provider of the Desert safari there are MANY are reputable English speaking and with newer vehicles.
