Stay away from this tour group!! We booked this because of the Viator/Trip Advisor badge of approval (I think this company pays to get negative reviews removed), and it was such a scam. We had heard great things about the Desert Safari experience from many people, and I'm sure it's great if you go with the right group. Our guide picked us up from the hotel about 30 min after the scheduled time, and then drove super aggressively in order to make up the time. My family was in the car, and another family with a baby, yet, this driver was doing 40-50 km over the speed limit. He was cursing at other 4x4 drivers from other groups heading to the ATV and camp ground.
They claim this is an Emerati experience, yet the entire thing is run by Pakistanis (which I have nothing against) - from the grocery store that you stop by to use the bathroom, to the ATV to the camp site - the whole thing is one big operation. The first stop is a grocery store, I purchased 3 soft drinks and a bag of chips and they charged me 105 Dhirams, which I thought was crazy, but the driver was like no, these are fair prices. There aren't prices written on anything so you can't tell how much things are. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and it's just a tourist trap.
The second stop is the ATV park. There were hundreds of SUVs trying to get into the one we stopped at. They have aggressive people trying to sell you things, and make you take pictures with falcons. The ATVs weren't included in our tour, but my kids wanted to do it, so we did. Again, no prices anywhere, the driver said 250 AED and he went to get the tickets. I paid after the ATV ride (which was fun), but as soon as I gave my credit card, my tour driver started speaking to the guys in Urdu and he told me to go back to the car - obviously he was collecting his commission.
After that, you take a 15 min drive to the dune bashing. Again, super crowded and nearly impossible for cars to get in and out. Took a long time for us to get to where the dune bashing started, so our driver let us off and then went to find parking. We were just standing there for a while till he got back. No organization at the Dune bashing either. Our driver went to the front and started talking to the organizers and just grabbed a 4x4 for us, pushing another group out of the way. They claim its a 20+ min experience, it took us 5 min to get to the camp, and that was the end of it.
When the drop you to the camp, the driver/guide isn't with you, so you are clueless as to what to do, as they are walking from the parking lot. We took some pictures of the dunes and the sunset. We were supposed to have sand boarding, but no clue what happened to that. We were supposed to get a camel ride, but there was a line of over 200 people waiting for a couple camels, and we would have missed the show. Once you get to the camp, it's such a mess. One thing I would recommend is doing the VIP package if you end up going with this tour group, because you have a separate section and actually get to eat properly. The camp site has a bunch of stalls selling things. They opened the "snacks" when you first get in, which is some cold Indian pakoras served with a guy with no gloves. There's a huge line for this also. The bathrooms in the camp were worse than the grocery store ones and smelled horrible. The food doesn't open till after the second show. The first was a belly dancer and the second was another dance. Then dinner opens, but all the guides tell their clients this, so the buffet line is super long. They split up men and women for this. They claim it's a BBQ buffet, but after you get the food from the first buffet, you wait in another line for the meat. Everything is super unhygienic, there was almost a fist fight at the buffet when we were waiting between one of the guest and one of the workers. Everyone working there is super rude. The food was basically inedible, except for the 2 pieces of meat that they give you (served with their hands) which was pretty good. Stay away from this company! I'm shocked that Trip Advisor/ Viator gave them a stamp of approval, because obviously nobody from the company has ever gone on this tour.
