      Our tour guide James was excellent!! He was witty and full of knowledge. I would highly recommend this tour.

      1st we couldn`t find our tour guy although our taxi driver dropped us off exactly at our meeting point and so we missed that tour. We then booked the same tour with another group. No, matter either tour was or would have been awful. 1st it was cold and windy, the tour had too many people in it and the guide spoke from the front and no one in the back could hear him. His accent was so strong we did not understand what he was saying. Too many unbelievable stories instead of facts. Would never do this again and have requested full refund from the tour company.

      Good morning, Gregory. Thank you for taking the time for leaving a review. Viator is not a tour operator, but a platform with which many operators, including All-Star Guides, work. When you book a tour through Viator, it doesn't grant you access to other tours on the platform. You didn't show up to the meeting point, which was easily found by the other 12 people in your group. As we never leave visitors behind, we called you out of our own pocket and, since you didn't pick up, we left a voicemail and sent you an email. We then proceeded to wait for 30 extra minutes, and still no sign of your party. You finally called us 2 hours late. We could STILL have offered you entry to the Castle at a later slot that day, but you chose to join another company. Understand that, despite all companies being friendly with one another, we are not affiliates. Despite all of the above, I personally guaranteed during our call that I would do my best to find a solution for you. Instead of waiting my contact, you raised a refund request, which prompted an investigation from Viator. We told them what happened, and a decision was made. As there was a clear violation of the guidelines, our hands were tied. As for the intelligibility of your tour guide: we are not going to comment on the professional capabilities of other companies, but we are going to defend ours. We work with some of the best professionals in the city, who go through rigorous training and quality control to ensure that our tours are delivered in an informed, accurate and entertaining manner and, since we deliver some of the VERY few accessible tours in the city, we take pace and choice of vocabulary into consideration. I'm sorry that you experienced something different but, ultimately, you chose to join a different tour instead of contacting us. Give us a ring next time you're in town and you'll see what we're all about. Also, not to defend the competition, but there is nothing any of us can do about the weather: Scotland has migrated from the Equator Line over 350 million years ago. I truly understand your anger and frustration but, in this case, it is misdirected, as it has literally nothing to do with us. Since you didn't experience our tour, I already reported your review to have it removed, but hope you get to read our reply before it disappears and hopefully have some light shed on your specific case.       Tour leader (David) was excellent! Welcoming, thorough, knowledgeable re: the Castle and its history. Our tour hiccup was the start point to join this Castle tour. It was not clear to us that the tour started in a location other than the Castle. We raced to and from the castle esplanade (from St. Giles) w no WiFi to join the group. Ultimately, once we joined the tour, all was good and we appreciated David and his leadership!!

      Excellent tour with James! The tour explains everything you would want to know about the castle and the grounds around it. His in-depth knowledge on Medieval weaponry made the tour come alive for us. Also even though the guides aren’t allowed in the buildings for the tours, you don’t really need them since everything is explained before you go in. Well worth it!!

      We were greeted by Callum who was a very friendly guide. We talked casually whilst waiting for the other couple in the tour. Callum was extremely informative and being a native from Edinburgh was very good at food and drink recommendations. What I really liked about Callum was is if he didn't know the answer to why questions he was very honest and say he didn't know, but his depth of knowledge was incredible about the royal history of Edinburgh Castle and the lineage of royals. Great guy and one I would happily have a wee dram with!

      Was very concerned because om my booking my ticket did not tell me my that I was to meet at at a meeting point that was not at the Edinburgh Castle which I was expected to happen

As stated by your guide, your voucher didn't mention the meeting point due to an undetected change in Viator's settings on our back office, which has since been corrected. We would like to reiterate our sincere apologies, and thank you for flagging it up. Edinburgh Castle does, indeed, have their own website, and you're free to book your ticket with them directly. However, we operate tours of Edinburgh Castle and the price of admission is included, as clearly stated on the title of our product - which you chose to book. Third-party operators are not allowed to set their meeting point to the Esplanade and, as pointed to you by our esteemed colleagues at Edinburgh Castle, we meet in a central, accessible location just minutes away from it. Rest assured that we wouldn't have left you behind: we picked up on the issue even before the tour started, and when we tried to contact you to offer a solution you had already met with the group at our starting point. Nevertheless, I hope that you enjoyed your tour and that this issue did not detract from your impression of our beloved capital.
