Many of the Stuart royals, among them James I and Mary, Queen of Scots, did stints in this loch-side 15th-century pleasure palace. Gutted by fire in the 18th century, Linlithgow lies in ruin, though evidence of its grandeur—from the great hall to the intricately carved King’s Fountain—is still plentiful.

Fantastic tour
Touring with Ed was a highlight of our trip. He went out of his way from start to finish to make sure that we got the most out of our time with him. Ed’s knowledge of Scottish history is remarkable and he was very hands on getting us in and out of sites. We especially appreciated Ed’s patience with our kids, including a teenager who wanted to stop for food every two hours!

Lovely day away from the city!
Enjoyed getting out of the city and seeing castles relating to ancestors and important in history. Very nice whiskey tour, tasting and lunch at the distillery.

Great private tour of blackness. Also toured Blackness and Wallace monument
Ed was our guide for excursion. He was very flexible and truly enjoys his job. Linlithgow was closed but he replaced that with Blackness which he guided us himself. Added Dean Village at the end since were ahead of schedule Great tour
