Worth the time and money if it’s your first Tuscany tour.

Great experience overall. Our hotel is about a 15-minute walk to the pickup location. The staff wear fuchsia colored outfit. Check-in was easy. I would recommend you arrive 10-15 minutes early. They will check your name and hand you a sticker based on your booking option. We selected the guided part for Sienna which is great if you don’t know the local history. The bus is a double decker and our group had about 80 people total from all over the world. They had two trilingual staff. Selina and Goya speak Italian, English and Spanish. These two ladies are nice, attentive and made sure everyone understood the meeting time. Everyone followed instructions so we left each stop on time. It was raining on and off throughout the day but there was sun when we were walking each location. I recommend you pay for the meal together with others in the group. For €20, you don’t have to worry about restaurant or food selection. The food is not the Michelin standard, but you will have salad, prosciutto, red wine, bread and local pasta with meat sauce. The dessert is gelato. Lunch was supposed to be 1:15, but lasted about 1:25. We were not rushed and there was sufficient time to drive to the Chianti vineyard for the wine tasting. The wine selection is good if you like Chianti. The host is also great. We bought nine bottles to ship back to us. Enjoy San Gimignano. Listen to the instructions and enjoy the world’s best gelato. You will be tired after all the walking and climbing so you will enjoy the last part of the driving back to Florence. We arrived back at the pickup location at 7:35, and we left at 8:45, so roughly 11 hours. It is a long day but well worth it if it is the first time you visit Tuscany. Be considerate and be respectful, follow the instructions of the guides - you will definitely enjoy!
Charged for a tour that never happened

I never got to do the tour. I received an email stating tour was cancelled and to call. I called and the person was trying to be helpful by giving me a list of tours still available. She emailed me the tours and stayed on the phone with me. She said I would be credited the almost $700 for the tour. I looked at the list of tours she sent and the first one was the same tour that I had originally been booked, but then told was cancelled. She tried to call and email the management team for the tour, but had no answer. She had me try to see if I could book again the original tour. It let me, but said pending. We were disconnected. I called back and spoke with another gentleman. He said it seemed I could still book original tour, but was unsure and confused as to why it was cancelled. Said he could see it was pending, but not confirmed. I saw on my credit card that I had been credited for the initial cancellation but then charged again. I never heard back from anyone, so got up early with my family and walked to the meeting place. We arrived early (before departure time) and spoke with one of the group organizers affiliated with Viator. He was not familiar with this particular tour, but called the phone # on original ticket and confirmed "Florence Adventures" was a legit touring business. He spoke with someone and they said they could not confirm this tour and recommended we cross street to see if we could find a bus with "Florence tours" on it. We could not. By then it was after what would have been the departure time and so I once again tried to call someone from Viator. I spoke with Alfredo and he was very kind And tried to call "Florence Adventures", but had no luck with anyone answering. He emailed, but said it could take up to 72 hours for an answer, but that he was marking the tour as a "No Show" against the "Florence Adventure" tour company. Today was 72 hrs and still no word and still no credit back to my account of the almost $700. I emailed Alfredo back at the original email he sent letting him no, but have not heard back yet. I will most likely have to call my credit card company, but fear if I do during my last few days in Italy that they will shut down my card.
      Less than average

This had the potential to be a great trip. However, we had a couple of obstacles. 1) Monteriggiano was completely shut down. Like no one was there except the tour group. While it was pretty, it was also a disappointment. The second stop was Siena. Be prepared: this city is full of hills! Know that you are going to be hiking it up and down the streets. The group meal was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Go out on your own. The last stop was San Gemignano - one of my parents’ favorite places in Italy. However, we didn’t get there until nearly 4 and everything was closing or it was so dark. The city sounds like it has potential but we didn’t see that. It was just cold, rainy and nothing to do. The highlight of the trip was the winery. Our tasting was fantastic and we even have a shipment coming home to us in the US. Our bus broke down in San Gemingnano which wasn’t necessarily the fault of anyone but it was a bitter ending to a very long day. We waited over 2 hours for another bus to come pick us up and get us back to Florence. There were pros and cons for sure but overall we were disappointed.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry to hear about the parts of your trip that didn't meet expectations. It's disappointing that Monteriggioni was quieter than anticipated and that the timing in San Gimignano limited your experience there. We acknowledge that Siena's hilly streets can be challenging and will aim to better inform our guests about this aspect of the tour. We're glad the winery visit was a highlight, and we hope the wines you're shipping home bring back good memories. Regarding the bus issue in San Gimignano, we truly apologize for the inconvenience and the long wait for replacement transportation. We're taking steps to improve our tour experience and prevent such issues in the future. Your feedback is crucial for us to enhance our tours. We appreciate your patience and hope to offer you a more satisfying experience next time. Best regards,
