What To Expect

Meet your tour guide and group at the departure point and climb into the comfortable tour bus bound for Siena. During the journey, enjoy views of Chianti vineyards.

Arrive in Siena in the morning, as the town is just waking up, to meet your local Siena guide for a walking tour of the hilltop town. Walk through the squares and alleyways, passing the Piazza del Campo and the world's oldest bank. Explore the Siena Cathedral (entrance fee included). Then, enjoy free time to wander around Siena before departing for lunch.

At the family-run winery, sit down for a traditional Tuscan lunch accompanied by wine.

Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of San Gimignano, famous for its still-intact medieval town plan. Spend your free time discovering the town's treasures on your own before departing for Pisa.

In Pisa, disembark at the Field of Miracles (Piazza dei Miracoli): a green field populated by buildings exemplary of Romanesque architecture. See the Duomo, the Tower, the Baptistery, and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

After your time in Pisa, board your bus for the trip back to Florence, where you are dropped off at your departure point.

Sandro was an exceptional tour guide. He was helpful, funny, and informative. Siena was unbelievably beautiful. We did the tour of the city with a local guide. Which was great but I would have liked more time to wander. San Gimignano was just as beautiful. The view from the city of the countryside was unbelievably beautiful. The lunch was excellent, the wine so-so. Pisa was beautiful. An excellent experience that I will never forget.

I’d recommend doing the escorted round trip over the other options. The tour in Siena, while nice, didn’t really add anything. All the locations are lovely, and you get a decent amount of time in each place.

Good but not Great

The stops were good, but the group was large and the CAF guides would start giving instructions when 1/3 of the group was still making its way to them. The walking tour of Siena was good but the leader had such a thick accent we couldn’t understand half of what she said. The stop at San Gimignano was the best and lunch was fun. Pisa was quick and more of a check a box. Lots of time on a bus. Only do this if you have a few days to spare in Florence. The guides at Walkabout Tours are so much better.

The trip was very nice and well organised, we had about 1 hour free time in Pisa, 2 hours in San Gimignano (we didn’t book lunch, if you do, you will have a little less time here) and a bit more than 2 hours in Sienna. For us this was enough time in each place. Our guide, Aaron, was well informed, funny, and provided helpful information and tips.

We had an enjoyable Tuscan day trip to Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano and Chianti from the City of Florence. Unfortunately, the weather the day our tour it was raining. But, everyone on the tour bus made the best of it. Our tour leaders were excellent, very accommodating & kept us on schedule. The lunch at the restaurant in San Gimignano with the wine tasting was also really wonderful. The guided tour through Siena was a nice extra to do if you want to know more history about the town of Siena.

The whole tour was absolutely amazing! I'm so pleased that I booked this day excursion. Massimo (Driver) and Elisabeth (Tour Guide) were fabulous ... very courteous and professional. The wine tasting was a wonderful treat. Ivan the wine curator was very entertaining. I cannot rave about this tour enough. Awesome trip! Just the right amount of time at Pisa (we didn’t care for the climb or basilica tour). The lunch at the winery was excellent with entertainment from Simon and maybe the best pasta meal we’ve had in Italy along with wonderful wine, olive oil, and balsamic. A bit of a sales pitch but worthy of their effort in this case. Great tour in Siena and then just enough time in San Gimigiano. Probably would be better with. Just a bit more daylight but that is to be expected in January. Truly a highlight of our trip to Italy. Highly encourage others to take part.

A wonderful tour

We had a great day with Alesia! She is a nice person and well-organized. The tour was excellent. The only thing that could be improved on refers to free time. I would definitely give people less time in Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano. Perhaps, it makes sense to have longer breaks in the summer, but not in the winter. We got to San Gimignano and it was already dark. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience.

Good, if in a time crunch

Honestly, this tour offers what you pay for. Three places is a lot to see in a day, but it is a good option if you are on a time crunch like we were. You get to see all three but that’s about it. 50 minutes in Pisa, 1 hour and 45 minutes in San Gimignano (includes wine tasting, lunch and a little time in the town), and 2 hours in Sienna. This also includes the walk. We spent most of the day driving from place to place (at least the drive was beautiful!) Not to mention two people were late to everything so I think that also set us back. Overall, I’m glad we did it because we were crunched for time, but next time I would rather pick one or two and spend the extra time and money to enjoy the towns more.

Unique experience

The tour guide Verra was very nice, precise and cooperative. The bus was really good and we had a smooth ride. In all the stops we had sufficient time to browse the cities. We were lucky to be in Siena on the day they were starting the festival, for the second day of Palio di Siena. It was crowded but we got to see many district parades.

Too much walking to get to each spot from the bus. It was extremely hot and by the time you got to each site you were exhausted. I would not recommend going to all 3 places in one trip. San Gimignano and Sienna are up hill and difficult to walk around especially in the heat. Also the air in the Cathedral was not working. Tour guide was excellent as was our driver.

The tour was strictly OK. We opted for the Siena walking tour, which was an absolute waste of money. Actual tour was less than 10 minutes. We were taken to Paisa in the morning before the cathedral even opens. For San Gimigniano we had very little time and this was the prettiest village. Effectively this tour is a bus booking with a lunch.
