What To Expect

Your morning starts with a pickup from Piazza della Calza by air-conditioned minibus. Relax while your driver heads out of Florence and onto the Chianti Road, considered one of the most scenic driving routes in Italy.

After about one hour on the road, make your first stop at a winery and wine-tasting school. Taste four types of wine and learn about their distinct flavors from a wine producer. Pair your wines with balsamic vinegar, truffle oil, and extra virgin olive oil.

Get back in the minibus and continue to a winery in the Vernaccia white grape region near San Gimignano. Follow the winemakers through the vineyard and wine cellar and taste Vernaccia, a rosè, and a Colli Senesi wine.

Your third stop is the Tuscan hill town of San Gimignano, where you spend about 1.5 hours of free time exploring the town center. Your day ends with drop-off in Florence at about 5pm.

Jean François was an excellent guide who gave us an overview of Florence/Tuscany on the ride to the wineries. He was very passionate about Tuscany and Italy and very knowledgeable about the history. He was also very funny, a huge plus in a tour guide. We visited two wineries before spending about an hour and a half in San Gimignano. The first winery, Tenuta Torciano, was excellent. Our host, Lilo, was engaging and humorous and the wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar was amazing. We were able to try 5-6 wines along with some meats, cheese and bruschetta. The second winery boasted breathtaking views, though that was about the only memorable thing. The host was less than enthused to have a group tour and was hard to hear, not engaging and overall we did not really feel welcomed. Wine was fine, but did not have a good enough experience to warrant ordering any for home. Our trip concluded in San Gimignano where Jean François was able to make recommendations depending on the type of activity you liked - more wine, touring the belltower and getting gelato. Overall a wonderful tour, minus the hostess at the second winery.

At small taste of Tuscany!

We were looking for a half day wine tour that didn't take us away for the whole day. We found the perfect tour! The tour guides were friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable. The two wineries we visited were excellent. I would highly reccomend!

Fun day as a family, but a little too budget feeling for the price!

We did this tour with our adult kids 21, 24, 26. It was ok, but not sure it was a good value for the money compared to other wine tours we did in Tuscany. The first winery experience on the tour was fantastic (Tenuta Torciano). They did a great food pairing (an unexpected touch was the gluten free and vegetarian options) lots of great wine and enthusiastic hosts. The second winery experience (Pietraserena) was less impressive. The views from here were incredible, but the hosts seemed to just be going through the motions of the tour and tasting. The visit to San Gimignano was great - good amount of time to shop and get some Gelato and walk around. There were 7 people on this tour and it was a bit of a tight squeeze into the small van. It may have been described as a van when I booked it, but I think I expected more of a sprinter van like on other small group tours. All in all it was good, but i think a little expensive for what we got compared to similar priced tours we took. It felt too budget like for a 100 per person price. Our driver/guide was very sweet!

Great tour for the money

Tour guide was great. Felt completely comfortable as a solo traveler. We went to two wineries where we had the opportunity to purchase wine, and then had an hour of free time in San Gimignano.

Had an amazing time on the Tuscany Wine Tour! Our guide was really nice and knowledgeable and the whole day flew by honestly. I went with one friend and we ended up making more friends along the way. Would definitely recommend even if you are a solo traveler.

A must do when in Florence

This is by far one of the best experiences of out 2-week trip. Jane was an incredible host. She allowed everyone to feel we were all friends. A little history, great music and a lot of fun facts shared. Both wineries were outstanding experiences. A small family winery and a large one gave us the best appreciation for the region. This is a must do on your itinerary.

Second winery lackluster

Our guide, Erica was great! Had a very good time at the first winery. Expert was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The second winery had the most beautiful views of the Tuscany region but there was no information regarding the wines we were tasting and the “tour” of the winery was underwhelming. Really enjoyed getting to explore San Gimignano as well.

We were frustrated because we were told to arrive no later than 9:45 and that the bus was leaving at 10 am "SHARP". The bus did not leave until 10:30 and we rushed to get there by 9:45. We also were told a maximum of 40 people but the tour went over that max which was extremely frustrating. The first vineyard and San Gimignano were great. The second vineyard had an incredible view but told us nothing about the wines.

Winery Fun!

Fun trip! It was a great day to visit two wineries. My only thing was the way bone it was very quiet ( no music) and most people were asleep despite it being listed as a lively tour with an age requirement.

Good not great

The tour was good not great — the transportation is very far from the center of Florence and it’s advertised as a “minivan/minibus” but it was a large coach bus as the tour was over 30 people, which was unexpected and made for an inferior wine tasting experience compared to a small group. You taste 7 wines at the first winery and only 3 at the second, though the second winery has a great view! I wish there had been more instruction and history of the wines we were tasting. The stop in San Gimignano is very short - only about an hour

As you can see at the time of the booking, there are two options for this tour: the bus and the minivan. The bus option typically accommodates a larger group of people, while the minivan option offers a more intimate and smaller group experience and they both have 2 different prices. The bus tour is on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays while the minivan option is on the other days. You joined on September 11th which is a Monday so it seems that you had chosen the bus option, which explains why the group was larger than expected. I am sorry if this was not clear to you at the time of the booking. Regarding the meeting point, I would like to clarify that it's located in the city centre in the area where buses & cars can stop & pick you up. Driving regulations in Florence are very strict, unfortunately. Our team would have helped you to reach the meeting point by taxi or bus if you had only contacted them in advance. We are glad that you enjoyed the experience overall and also the time in San Gimignano which is 1 hour & 30 minutes as advertised in the tour description. We stopped by two vineyards which was great but for a wine trip, I expected to learn more about the grapes, region, and overall wine making process. The wines overall were very average. The booking also said we would be a small group, but instead we were on a coach with about 25 people. The best part was the rushed stop to San Gimignano.

Great winery experience

We had a lot of fun on this experience. We went to two wineries, the first was bigger and more informative and very interactive with the wine guy at the vineyard. He was super nice, very funny and welcoming and you could tell he loved his job. We also got snacks here and he was great at telling you how to pair things. We tasted 8 wines total at this one, then had an opportunity to buy any of the wines we liked to be shipped. Then we took the bus to the second winery-this one was smaller, but had better views. There was really no information given on the wines here, but you did get some of the wine making process. We got 3 wines here. I felt a little rushed at both wineries-could have used 30 minutes more at each. The little town was nice, but I wish we would have skipped it to just put more time in the wineries because we ended up running back to the bus since you get very little time in town.

Was an excellent tour overall, out tour guide didn’t really communicate to us what was happening when there was an issue in the office. We also didn’t have a whole lot of time In the town for a last stop which would have been better.

We had a great time, the wineries offered nice choice for degustation and we liked that there was a group of young people with us, so we have more in common to discuss. Also we want to point out a guide Lorenzo, he was very nice and friendly.
