What To Expect
Your expert guide and friendly driver will collect you from your Guatemala City hotel and transport you in air-conditioned comfort to Cerro de la Cruz. You’ll marvel at the cityscape laid out before you as you look out from the tallest hilltop. Take in the beauty of terracotta rooftops and cobblestoned streets that give this historic town its colonial vibe.
From there, make your way to the city’s central plaza and pay a visit to the iconic San Francisco Church, where the shrine of Peter of St. Joseph Betancur is located. Your guide will point out the arch of Santa Catalina as you wander the streets and share the story of how nuns once used an underground passage to cross the street.
You’ll make your way to the beautiful Baroque-style La Merced Church, which was once the wealthiest in the city. Follow your guide to the Jade Museum, where you’ll watch local craftsmen carving these green stones into beautiful jewelry.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense) before heading to the nearby coffee plantation, where you’ll learn about coffee production and harvesting before sampling the locally grown beans and making your way back to your Guatemala City hotel.

I liked the uniqueness of the area no massive concrete structures friendly people lots of hucksters but they have to earn a living left if you smiled and said no felt safe there

Gustavo was our driver and guide and did an excellent job. On the drive to Antigua he explained a lot about the history and culture of Guatemala and especially Antigua. The first couple hours of the day he took us to special landmarks and the Jade museum, entertaining us with his historical stories. The secon portion of the morning we split up and had time to discover and shop on our own. On the way back to Guatemala City we stopped at a coffee farm and museum. This was a really cool area to walk through and enjoy. One caveat is make sure to wear sturdy shoes as the cobblestone streets will play havoc on your feet if wearing flip flops. This was a great day tour.

A quick overview of a beautiful city. So glad I got to go. It was a rough drive between Guatemala city and Antigua, but our driver was great and gave us a nice history of Guatemala.

This is a awesome day trip from Guatemala City! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and took time to cover the history behind Antigua in detail. Our group of 6 also enjoyed a great lunch in an old mansion type of hotel, one of the few highlights of the trip! Highly recommend this tour!
