What To Expect

Following hotel pickup in Ho Chi Minh City, you're transferred by minivan to Tan Cang pier. Travel with your guide and small group by luxury speedboat to the Cu Chi Tunnels, located about 43 miles (70 km) northwest of the city. During the ride, a light breakfast is served, including seasonal fruits and pastry with bottled water. Feel the fresh breeze while you listen to your guide's commentary about daily life along the riverbanks.

On arrival at Cu Chi, watch a documentary film about one of history's most sophisticated human-made tunnels and hear wartime legends. Then walk into the jungle with your guide and crawl into the tunnels to see traps, secret entrances, bunkers, and underground hideouts from a restored part of the 155-mile (250-km) labyrinth, complete with trenches and sites for eating, sleeping, meetings, military activities, food storage, and more.

You can shoot a rifle at the on-site gun range (ammunition is your own expense), then get a look at local industries such as rice-paper and rice-wine production. Following a break for green tea and tapioca — the main food served during the Vietnam (American) War — you're taken to Tan Cang resort for a traditional Vietnamese lunch including seven main courses.

You'll arrive back at your hotel in the afternoon.

Must do in Saigon!

Speed boat transport. Only 1 hour vs 2 by bus. Nice view along the river. Yo Dung was a great guide at the tunnels. Getting there before the buses allowed for no wait time at the shooting range. Beautiful spot for our lunch on the return.

Excellent excursion. Travelled by speed boat to Cu Chi Tunnels. Would recommend, quick from Ho Chi Minh City only 75 mins. Left before 8am and in tunnels before the coaches arrived, there were only two there when we arrived. Our guide Chister was excellent. Informative, very knowledgeable and spoke with authenticity and perspective through his families real life experience of the conflict. A real eye opener especially from the viewpoint of those living in the Cu Chi area. Great lunch and left for HCMC around 1.30 where the coach park was full yet we hoped on our boat away from the crowds.

Quickest way to get to the Tunnels from Ho Chi Minh. Our guide, Banana, had lots of facts about the tunnel area but was also very funny and enthusiastic. Enjoyed the scenery along the way as well.

Great tour. Chister is an awesome guide, not only speaks very good english but also has good banter. The speed boat was comfortable, much better than dealing with HCM traffic. The tunnel experience was interesting, Chister moved us around the site to avoid the bigger crowds but also getting to see everything. The location of the meal after the tour was beautiful and the food was really good. 100% recommended.

The boat ride was wonderful as we felt safe but the cave tour was unforgettable. Our guide Joe was very knowledgeable and he gave us a great education on the Vietnam War. After the tour, we were treated to a great Vietnamese lunch. Our boat captain did a great job as well. Great tour!

Cu Chi Tunnels by Speedboat is rockstar travelling for the family

Our visit to the Cu Chi tunnels by speedboat was the best decision we could have made. Not only did we get a speedboat to ourselves (family of four made up of 2 x teenage boys, mum and dad) but the personal service from our tour guide 'Banana' was fantastic. We were collected from our hotel and driven straight to the marina for transfer onto the boat. The next thing we knew, we had the wind in our hair and the sights of Saigon city whizzing past. No traffic, no noise except for the humm of the outboard motor. It was heaven after the sensory overload of Saigon. We tucked into the croissants and fruit on offer for breakfast. Got to the tunnels in around 1 hour after seeing some amazing sights along the river including the former US Military Base. We got the tunnels well before any of the tour buses which was awesome because we got to see all the sights before the crowds arrived. Our guide Banana was incredibly knowledgeable about the tunnels, the site and the tactics used by Vietnamese fighters over the past few hundred years. Very educational for westerners. At the end, we found the video about the war a little confronting, but this gave you a different perspective. The ride home was bliss because after the humidity of the jungle, the breeze from the boat was heaven and I got to have a sleep ! Overall, cannot recommend this trip highly enough if you have a family and you don't want to spend hours on the road in a car or van travelling to the tunnels. This is rockstar treatment for a very reasonable price and the service was excellent.

The trip was extremely knowledgeable and a great half day experience . Our guide was informative and he tried to answer as many questions as we put to him.
