Great tour of Soweto
Anika_W, Apr 2024
Sunny was a great tour guide and was very knowledgeable about Soweto as he was from there. We visited the different areas of Soweto and visited a day care, it a nice to interact with the children. We also visited Mandela House and had a chance to visit the various vendors to grab souvenirs. Overall it was a great tour.
Great tour and tour guide!
Gina_R, Apr 2024
Prince was awesome! I learned so much about Soweto and really got a taste of what life is like there. Learned a lot of history of the area, and really enjoyed learning more about Nelson Mandela. It was eye opening and at times emotional but so worth it. Though it took a while, being picked up and dropped off at my hotel was super convenient. Felt very safe the entire time. Would definitely recommend!
Great half day tour of Soweto
Adam_C, Apr 2024
The tour was great. Booked in advance, and they messaged the pickup time. -Picked up at 1:45pm, my hotel, reef hotel, was downtown johannesburg and last person to be picked up before the tour started. It might change, but they said they pick up starting at airport, then sandton, then johannesburg, and reverse for drop off, so i was first off. -We were told not to hand out money to people asking during the tour, that we could donate through the driver to the community otherwise the tours get mobbed by people asking. - we drove to Soweto and stopped at the famous 2 power plant towers, for pictures and explaining about the words on the tower. -Then drove to the poorer area where people wait for goverment built homes for them. Its a shanty town. You see the school there that this tour supports, and meet the locals. -We went to the nelson mandela house for a tour. Small house but interesting to see the bullet holes still there. -Then a memorial museum, most was displayed with pictures and a paragraph or 2 with each picture. I think we had 25 min after the initial explination, to roam around and look, but there was not enough time to read all the posted writing. It was a interesting visit. -We were sopost to visit the famous stadium built for the world cup, but there happened to be a very big soccer game happening that afternoon between 2 local big teams, and the roads everywhere in the area were packed, and he showed us the road leading to the stadium, and it would have taken hours to get there, so we skipped the stadium visit. -Dropped me off back at hotel, i gave the driver a tip, and also gave a donation for the community. -The driver was also the tour guide, he drove very well and fast, and made sure to keep us on time. Explained everything well and answered questions. -there was 7-9 people in the van on the tour aswell, i remember some from Spain, neitherlands, and germany. Overall it was a great tour for my limited stay in johannesburg. I originally thought to do a downtown Johannesburg tour, but after research, this one was better for learning the area and culture. I do not regret at all, it was great!
Soweto…….History and Current Life….seeing is believing.

Really enjoyed all the information shared by our guide. Not a canned lecture at all. He asked as many questions of us as we asked of him. Kept us engaged as a group all day!!

Great cultural, historial tour of Joberg and SA
Melody_D, Mar 2024
We visited from the US in February and only had time for a half day tour but are so glad we made the time to book this. Prince was a fantastic tour guide and was very knowledgeable about Joberg while showing us all of the sights and teaching us tons of local info about town and history. You can't visit SA without learning about the trials the country has gone through to get to where it is, and this was a very eye opening, educational, heart warming way to talk to some locals, learn about the history, and get a feel for SA's culture and history. Our 10 and 14 year old passed out candy (brought from home) to the kids in the township and the local kids couldn't get enough! The Hector Pieterson museum is not to be missed. Definitely a well rounded, enjoyable tour. Not to be missed!
Response from Host, Mar 2024

Vilakazi Vibes
Maricelle_B, Jan 2024
I especially enjoyed Vilakazi Street's vibe and having a very delicious traditional South African lunch at Sakhumzi Restaurant.
An excellent express way into Soweto
Esteban_G, Jan 2024
I learned a lot about the culture of the place and it's origins. The tour guide was amazing and very friendly. The tour took a while to start, but mostly because we had to wait quite a while for the full-day tour people to join in.
Extremely Educational
