What To Expect

The Key West Aquarium is one of the oldest aquariums in Florida and one of the most popular attractions for people of all ages when visiting the area. It’s also home to the very creatures than can be found in the waters of Key West — sharks, turtles, stingrays, a wide variety of fish and much more.

The aquarium is renowned for its interactivity. The popular Touch Tank is a way for guests to get up close with some of the more familiar creatures that can be found in Key West’s waters. Many of these marine animals — like conchs, sea stars, slate pencil sea urchins, serpent sea stars, sea cucumbers, giant hermit crabs and horseshoe crabs — can be seen when kayaking or snorkeling.

Hop on one of the four daily tours and watch (and participate in) a shark feeding, learning more about one of humankind’s most feared apex predators in the process. Then come face to face with a juvenile nurse shark and touch its tail. At the Atlantic Shores Exhibit, feed some of the larger animals while discussing the variety of marine life in the exhibit — tropical and game fish, sharks and sea turtles in a 50,000-gallon tank. Other aquarium exhibits feature alligators, stingrays, jellyfish and more.

I enjoyed the aquarium. It was time to feed the sharks but they weren't coming out from the water so that was a little disappointment.
Sucky aquarium

The aquarium isn’t very big or extremely interactive. However, it is a good 1 hour activity for younger children to learn about marine life around Key West. My family enjoyed seeing the turtles, lobsters, and flounder. My personal favorite was seeing the pink shrimp. Admission is good over several days.
Not worth the money

The aquarium was closed for renovation and we weren't notified about this. I had received a ticket confirmation for the date. This was unacceptable. We were so looking forward to visiting.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. The Aquarium did post the closing on our website.

It’s what you expect when you go to an aquarium. Some pretty cool sites, but nothing mind blowing. The kids enjoyed it
Great visit
Corrine_A, Jul 2021
It was a great visit! The educators were very knowledgeable and answered our 3 kids' many questions.
Map of available exhibits should be on website for informed purchase
Denise_W, Jun 2021
The one room that you see in the picture is the only room available. The shark feeding presentation was wonderful, and the televisions with more information about the tanks along the walls was informative for my children. If sections are still under constriction from a hurricane from 2017, it should be noted on the website so customers can make an informed decision before spending their money.
Good little place
Erin_S, May 2021
Small but perfect We enjoyed the turtles and sharks. They had some educational items. Just wish it was bigger for the price.
Response from Host, May 2021
