If you do not require hotel pickup, or your hotel cannot be serviced, you must make your own way to the main tour departure point. Check-in at this location is 15 minutes prior to the booked tour start time. PICKUP SERVICE Our pickup service is available from selected hotels in Krakow. What To Expect

Begin your tour with pickup from your select Krakow hotel. Accompanied by a local guide, head to the funicular railway for a scenic ride to the top of Mt Gubalówka. Soak up the views of the Tatra Mountains and take a brief walk around the peak.

Afterward, travel back down the funicular to Zakopane, Poland’s popular destination for winter sports. Follow your guide to see the old cottages of the mountaineers, enclosed by ash trees and blackened by the sun. Built by the Polish artist Witkacy, learn the history behind the wooden houses and churches as you explore.

Continue with a stroll along Krupówki, the bustling mall lined with restaurants, cafes and local shops, where you’ll pause to relax with some lunch.

Conclude your day trip with a visit to the Tatra Museum in Zakopane or a stop at the old wooden village of Chocholów before journeying back to Krakow.

We booked this thinking it was just a ride to Zakopane and not much else. Our guide was Alexandra and she was excellent! She took us to this local sheep cheese maker and had lots of history and information on the area. She took us for a guided walk through the village and up to the top on the little tram and said “meet back at the station at 3” which was excellent because i had read on some reviews that guides go up and take groups straight back down. We had. About 2 hours of our own to explore. Definitely would recommend.

Worth the trip

Pawel was nice and Professional. The combination of mountains, cheese tasting and thermal springs was good. We really enjoyed it. Only negative: the transport bus had small seating between rows- the bus was full and we were in the back row-any one over 5’3” will have very cramped legs.

Driver ‘didn’t know’ about picking us up

Was a great day out, in my dreams since we were never picked up and didn’t get to go. We were advised by Viator the night before (when I was worried about the booking that everything was fine) then in the morning when we were awaiting pick up I was advised again everything is fine but they have between 9am and 9:50am to pick you up. 10am came and went and we were still waiting. We were advised to contact tour provider if any issues, when we done this we were very kindly informed that the tour has already left and didn’t know why we weren’t picked up. On asking if someone could take us and even just refund the difference of what was missed we were advised this wasn’t going to happen. As an ‘apology’ by the tour guide (please note not Viator) we were offered a day trip to the zoo or a transfer to the airport the following day. Viator are still to actually acknowledge that this is partly their fault as it was through them that the trip was booked!! Be careful with who you are booking with if it is something you really want to experience on your trip

Our tour guide Krystian was absolutely fantastic. He was so friendly and full of life it really made our trip. The trip in itself was incredible too. The views in zakopane were phenomenal and the thermal spa was lovely.

I toured with Thousand Miles via Viator to Zakopane on Sept 9th, my birthday. Magda and Marcin surprised me with a Thousand Miles tour company gift and birthday toast. This was an unexpected joy. Marcin navigated the road construction and heavy traffic with skill and MUCH patience. Magda was a fantastic guide, sharing so much information about the sights, culture, and foods of the area. The Zakopane Mountains and Hot Springs is a wonderful tour to do. The mountains are beautiful and the visit to the shepherd's hut was really special. However, what made this tour really fantastic was our driver, Monika. She is an absolute gem! She went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. She contacted our hotels ahead of time to remind us of our pick-up time and st the end of the day, she let us know 5 minutes ahead of time when we were coming up to our hotel for drop-off. She explained the schedule to us at certain points in the day so we knew what to expect, she was an excellent and safe driver, she surprised us with a snack for the ride home, and overall, she was very friendly, kind, and personable. Very hospitable. You could tell she really wanted us to have a great experience and that she enjoys working with her clients. A side note: my phone charger wasn't working (very inconvenient when travelling abroad) and when I mentioned this to Monika (because she sent us our funicular tickets through WhatsApp, so this was going to be difficult for me with a very low battery and no Wi-Fi), she went to the trouble of borrowing a charger from another guide so I could charge my phone AND she shared her Wi-Fi so I could download my ticket and get myself organized. Amazing!! It was so generous and kind of her to do this. Thank you, Monika, for being such a fantastic driver and guide! This tour was extra special because of you! :)

I will admit that the Zakopane was a little bit more "touristy" than I expected, as in there is a lot of people. But it has its own charm, so I think I can give it a pass. You are given a few hours to do what you want, so I recommend having somewhat of a small itinerary ready. You have plenty of bars and food options to choose from. There is plenty of shopping, with a mall a bit up the main street. The town of Chochołów is a nice distraction, but not too exciting. It is interesting to see how the highlanders live in their small community.
