Salt mine tour

The salt mine was an amazing experience! The underground chambers and tunnels were breathtaking, and the historical significance of the mine was fascinating to learn about. Our guide was highly knowledgeable and made the tour both informative and engaging. The highlight for me was seeing the beautiful salt carvings and sculptures throughout the mine. I would highly recommend visiting the Krakow salt mine for a unique and memorable experience.

The story of the mine, amazing how it was built and now being preserved. A lot of walking through tunnels at pace, so not for those with difficulty in walking.

Don’t pay for hotel pick up !!!

The mines itself were amazing however the pick up from Krakow was completely shambolic. We booked for hotel pick only to receive an e mail 24 hours later giving us another destination 5 minutes from the hotel. (Wyspianski). We arrived at this destination at 9-35am for a 10am pick up only to still be standing there at 10-35am. I tried twice to get through only eventually to be told we would be picked up shortly. The white coach we were supposed to be on the driver did not stop to check passengers were all there and headed towards our hotel ! We eventually got picked up and transported to the salt mine where we were met from someone from Discover Krakow who gave us our tickets and told us where we should stand and wait and at what time. We were there when he arrived and moved the group towards a different entrance. We naturally assumed that we followed him only to be told at the entrance that our ticket was for individual and not Group. We had to rush to catch the 11-30 individual tourist tour with an English guide. Very poor communication and clearly non existent to the bus driver who it would appear had not been told we were to be picked up in a different location as advised. The salt mines were fantastic but the pick up and transfer awful

Guide was very informative but in such a large group people at back found it hard to hear her headsets would be advisable mine was a amazing experience but not been told before about long walk to lifts and long walk back to bus by different exit very uncomfortable and disorientated but transport lovely and highly recommend this trip

Spectacular Salt Sculptures

Fabulous trip. Tour guide was so knowledgable - her humour and kind considerate nature - made for a very good outing. The salt sculptures and lakes were amazing . The history of this site was shared with ease by the tour guide - We left feeling we had learnt a great amount . At all times the guide was clear in her explanations, along with the history of what we were seeing. This with her considerate manner in checking that all in our tour group were feeling alright and that we had, had enough time for refreshment breaks and shopping breaks. The guide let us know how many steps we had completed and how deep we had walked into the mine - checking that we were all ok with each stage of the journey to the deepest point of the mine . The guide checked and waited patiently for our group to catch up - so no one had to hurry between each area. At the end of the tour ( after we used the lift back to the surface ) the guide took us all back to our start point ( which we may not have found ourselves ) so we could get back on our coach . Pick up very smooth - taxi then transfer to the coach and in reverse after the trip .

Generally a great visit but too rushed and couldn't hear a lot of what the guide said as there was another noisy tour group on our heels! At end of the tour no proper instructions were given on how to get back to the tour bus.

The good and bad

Very impressed by the cathedral and statues made from rock salt. Not impressed by the price of hotel pick at £27 which we found out later was one way and it only took us 10mins to walk back. £113 with hotel pick up £86 without as advertised. Very greedy as an uber cost us £5 for twice the distance.

This was an eye opening experience into what man is capable of even using the most basic of tools . The sculptures are fantastic. Lots of wooden steps down into caves 54 flights to be exact but worth every step . The miners lift back to surface is a bit of a squeeze but lasts just a few minutes.

All round great experience.hotel pick up with friendly driver dropped to coach .no queuing for tickets and the salt mine is well worth a visit although a certain level of fitness is required to navigate the mine and keep up with the guide

The amazing sculptures. Very informative guide easy to understand. Tour moved along at a reasonable pace but not too fast.
