While rickshaws are able to fit two adults, each rickshaw is 29.1 inches (74 centimeters) wide, and it is sometimes more comfortable to book individual rickshaws for each passenger. For passengers of size, we recommend booking a rickshaw for each participant to ensure a comfortable ride. Passengers who do not both fit in one rickshaw but wish to participate in a tour at the same time will be required to purchase an additional rickshaw, which may not be available on the date of the tour with an English-speaking guide if not booked in advance. Those customers who do not purchase an additional rickshaw at the time of booking cannot be guaranteed availability

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Riveting Rickshaw Ride

My husband Nick, daughter Georgia and I had a 70-minute rickshaw ride with Yuta and Ai at 11am on Thursday 22nd June. They were amazing: very friendly, with great personalities and they shared loads of interesting information with us on our journey. It was a very wet morning and they took great care keeping us dry throughout. Yuta was also a great photographer and took many fabulous photos as memories of the fab experience. Thank you very much! We would have no hesitation in recommending Yuta, Ai and Kyoto Rickshaw Tours.

The rickshaw ride through the bamboo forest was amazing our guides were extremely friendly and informative and very kind and nice . Kiyo was fabulous, so refreshing to find someone so friendly in Japan. The hot seat pads were brilliant in the cold weather and the photos Kiyo took of us were really professional. I would highly recommend this trip.

We took two rickshaw tours with the same provider and they were both excellent. It’s not just a good way to cover some distance and not be exhausted, but the tour guides were excellent.

Absolutely enjoyed this tour, we did the 1 hour and our guide Yusaku was so knowledgeable and hilarious. He took us through Kyoto visiting shrines and even the geiko districts. Yusaku stopped many times to take our picture and he did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this tour if you are with your significant other.

Is this the thing to do here or should it be a river cruise ?

Enjoyable Ride

We went on a 2 hour rickshaw ride with another couple. Our ride took us all over the historic area. Our guides were full of information and spoke good English. They looked after us really well when we had a little rain and we stayed warm and dry. We were impressed with their professionalism. A highlight was going along a street where many of the geisha live. The street is not mentioned in the guide books and was deserted. We were very lucky to pass a geisha in the street as apparently they seldom appear during the day. Overall we thoroughly recommend this trip.

Such an amazing tour with the Kyoto Rickshaw crew! Words can't express how much fun this was. The guys that pulled our rickshaw were fun and informed us about all things Japan ranging from where to go and what means what. They also took the best photos. Can't recommend this more!

We had booked an English speaking guide and it was so worth it to ride through the bamboo forest and out through some of the back block areas for an hour. Our guide was very friendly and helpful showing us different places and some of their history. Having never been in a rickshaw before this was quite an experience in the cold March weather wrapped up in a rug. We would recommend this trip to anyone.

The Rickshaw tour was amazing! Beautiful, calm and very safe. The best way to visit Kyoto. Ryoma Fujioka is an excellent guide. He knows the history very well, and is very joyfull.

This was a highlight of our visit to Japan. We received extremely detailed instructions to get from Kyoto railway station to our awaiting rickshaw at Arashiyama. Our rickshaw boy was so helpful and professional and was a very good photographer. We asked to see the bamboo grove so we went there first. and then went around many streets and byways, some of which were uphill. This did not faze our man one little bit. We had opted for a two hour ride and we were glad we had as this gave more time to see all the sights without rushing. We felt like royalty passing all the foot tourists and in the first few hundred meters two tourists asked how they could do such a tour. Highly recommended.

We booked two rickshaw 3 hours tour for myself, my husband and our 10 year old because we will not fit in one rickshaw. Our rickshaw driver/tour guides coordinated our tour very well. The tour was amazing because you are comfortable and at the same time, the tour-guide/rickshaw driver spoke English and were very knowledgeable about the places you visit. Our tour-guide were name U-chi Yochicuwa and Ki-yo.
