Overview

Experience the thrill of riding an ATV along tracks in the Costa Rican rain forest during this exhilarating half-day activity from La Fortuna. You'll be transferred to a private farm situated next to Arenal Volcano National Park, and receive instruction from your guide on operating the ATV. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

My husband and I took our two young adult boys on this tour and we all had a blast! Staff was great and stopped at the best spots for photo opportunities of the volcano.

This was a “decent” tour but definitely not worth what they charge for it. You have to remember that there will be both kids and adults and you are with a group of 8–12 other people so if you have someone who has never ridden before in front of you, it will slow you down and take away from tne exhilaration of a fast ride (They make you go in single file). Our 15-year-old daughter wanted to go at a much faster pace but there was a mom who had a seven-year-old riding on the back of hers in front of us. My daughter was frustrated the entire time. We never got the “mud mask” they mention in the description of tne tour. . One of the ATVs broke down (not ours, but someone else in the group) so we had to spend a good 10 minutes sitting and waiting shortly for it to get fixed after we started the ride. It was hot and annoying! The vehicles looked pretty old, and the tires were practically bald on the one my daughter and I were on. We got stuck going up a hill because we had no traction from our tires and one of the tour operators had to help push us up the hill. Once I looked at the tires, I realized there was no way we would’ve been able to get up without the assistance. The views are beautiful and if you are not expecting a thrill ride, I guess it’s an “ok” tour.

There was no adrenaline at all sorry, there was people always breaking, maybe for the beginners but there was no adrenaline like they say on the publicity,the guide was no gentle with my girlfriend

Lots of fun! Nicely carved trails, guided tour through property right next to the Arenal Volcano. You get 3 chances to stop, rest, and take photos - never felt like "too much" riding. Gorgeous views. Fun time had by all; highly recommend.

If I could give this 10 stars I would, amazing experience, super fun. Our guide was great! We were fortunate to go on a clear day and got a great view of the mountain and had volcanic clay cask masks by the river.

Family with teens, we had a great time. Trail is good with lots of bumps and ups and downs. We had great volcano views and the volcanic mud facial was super silly and fun. We had a guide in the front and back of our group, and learning the controls of the atvs was covered well before we departed. My only complaint was that Viator listed the start time as 2:30 and it didn’t start until 3:30. This may have been a miscommunication somewhere, verify the time with your guide if you are driving yourself there. Also if you are into bird watching, we saw so many species around the parking area!

We did a number of adventures while in Costa Rica, and the kids and I agree this was our FAVORITE!! Andres was our guide, and as unassuming as he seemed, he was super cool and so kind! Safety was always his first priority, which made me feel more comfortable since my 13 yr old was driving an ATV solo. The views are breathtaking! And getting super muddy was part of the fun!! Would recommend to anyone!

They were very informative, and we got to take water breaks and take a few pictures ! You have to do the clay mask! It’s a must and a GREAT experience !! It wasn’t too hard at all, beginners could do this too, our friend has never rode one before ! Great great experience and got muddy!!

Mudding around a volcano!

This was a fun way to get muddy! :) The guide was great and he took us to a river where we could apply a volcanic mud face mask about halfway through the tour. The only downfall was some of the ATVs needed to be swapped around well into our journey due to issues. All in all, a great time though!

Highlight of our trip! Two of us had never ATV’d and we loved it. We went at a good pace and never felt in danger. The route is beautiful; I loved the jungle, the cows, and views of the volcano. We stopped at a river halfway and put on clay masks. The guide was great.

This was a great experience. Our guide, Andres was friendly and thorough with his instructions. The course, in general, is easy and fun. My 13 year old who had never driven an ATV before did fine. Our younger ones rode with us parents and were absolutely fine - just request the doubles for riding tandem. Navigating the bumpier parts for her were not that challenging but the terrain was challenging enough to give even experienced riders a good time. It started raining a bit but that made the experience that much more unique. Andres stopped our group after hearing a howler monkey, found the monkeys and pointed them out to the group. We got picked up from The Springs Resort and it was an easy 10 minute ride to the experience. Definitely worth your money if you’re in the La Fortuna area.

This tour should’ve been offered to only moderate to experienced riders. The conditions were extreme with puddles and boulders to navigate around, almost causing me to almost fall off my ATV. I finally gave up and offered to walk back, but was given an experience writer to go with. My friend did fall off at the same location I almost fell off, hit her head, and broke three ribs. This was not an enjoyable trip to say the least having spent most of our evening in the clinic, getting x-rays and basically ruining the rest of our week. I wish I would’ve known.

Daniel, 58 from Montreal, Canada. First time ever in Costa Rica. Did this cool adventurous ATV ride which lasted almost 2 hours. We had a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano. The ATV ride is not for beginners. It's a bit challenging but whoever is up for it will love it. Our guide Andres was awesome. Very nice, friendly, smiley and shared interesting facts about the area. I loved it. You will too.
