This was such a wonderful tour! Isabella was a superb guide. Extremely informative, helpful, and friendly. She brought us chocolate to start, which was the perfect beginning! She also arranged to meet earlier to avoid the rain. We couldn’t have appreciated her more!

Isabella was a very good guide. If, like us, it is your first time to visit Lucerne, this is a great introduction to the city. It is a very walkable city and there is plenty to see in the two hour walking part of the tour.

lacking in substance

Guide didn't know how many were in our group. (She had 4 people listed, there were 12) The walk was quite strenuous for those over 75 years of age. Most of the facts given were things I read in the guidebooks. No audio equipment to hear what she was saying. Visual aids were looking at photos on her phone. The guide was very nice, but we are used to more informative tours from Amawaterways.

Hi Linda. Thanks for your comment. Lies! Lies and more Lies! Let me clear up something..all the 10 people initially booked in this tour were all your friends, remember them? and you didn't mention it to us in advance at all! This is a small Group tour up to 8 persons. We had two different guides to take care of the Group separately but you all insisted to be in the same Group! Besides two more of your friends showed up in the last minute and joined you, remember them? Yes, you were 12 people but that's how you guys wanted to have it! We agreed because you were all friends, or at least supposed to be friends!! If we had known this in advance, then we would have prepared the Audioguides for you! and not all spontaneous and improvised as you wanted us to do it with a big Group size! The walk is a normal pace walking tour. Let me ask, what do we supposed to do in a walking tour if not walking?? The River Cruises just offer you an induction tour and will never explore and learn about the city as with the locals like us. All Guides in our Team live in Lucerne and are Locals, we all are professionals in History, Art, Culinary art, Marketing, Tourism and Classical Music! It is not about the age for a person to enjoy a walking tour, it is about how open minded you are and interested to explore new places by foot which otherwise would not be easy to find and to learn about on your own. I am sure you are just a River Cruise agent trying to get more booking using bad business practices by advertising your company at someones profile. We wish you good luck!

Absolutely fabulous experience. We were fortunate to have Louis to ourselves. He was spectacular. We learned so much and he truly tailors the tour to your interests. He added to his descriptions with pictures on his iPad and even gave us fantastic restaurant recommendations and where else we should go while in Lucerne. I cannot recommend him enough. We are looking forward to coming back and taking his bike tour!

Great walking tour w/great tour guide

We booked the Lucerne Walking Tour/Cheese tasting/boat tour option. This was an incredible experience from start to finish. Louis, our guide, walked us through various parts of the city, providing detailed historical information of the city’s rich history, including how the area developed and in a short time, we learned so much that we couldn’t have otherwise. The walking part does get somewhat hilly, but once you get to the top, you get an amazing view of the city with a perfect opportunity to take pics that you will forever cherish. Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes — it will make your descent much easier. Conveniently, the end of the walking tour brought us to the restaurant where the cheese tasting part of the tour took place. Excellent selection of cheeses and sides and there’s a very large selection of wines. The boat tour was on a very modern ferry (it’s too nice to be called a ferry, more like a double decker yacht). While both port- and starboard- sides offer nice views, the mountain caps are best viewed on the starboard side (on the stern, there’s a covered deck where you can get unobstructed views vs the inside - can get cold). We would do it again. You won’t be disappointed!

Our guide was Luis was so nice and knowledgeable about Lucerne’s history. You can tell he really loves the city and that came through with his enthusiasm during the tour. Amazing learning about how pure the water in the lake is and touring around the original wall that defended the city. Didn’t hurt that the weather was amazing.

Tour tremendously exceeded our expectations! Luis’ knowledge and passion of both art and history truly brought the tour to life. He was able to connect the past and present together in such a way that we could “feel” the journey of this extraordinary city.
