The adventure of a lifetime!

What an incredible trip from start to finish! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and brought the trip to life, especially Hassan. There were lots of stops and things to see, all of which I loved, but the highlight was definitely the desert, the camel riding, the overnight glamping stay, and the quad biking! The Berber music in the evening and dancing around the campfire was great fun too! Such incredible views. It is probably the best value for money pre-booked tour I’ve taken, and I’ve done them all round the world. So much packed in and the sand dunes were just incredible! Everything was included including henna and sand boarding, aside from lunches, but the quad biking that’s offered on the trip is extra but very inexpensive, especially if two of you share a quad. I would 100% recommend the quad biking as well as you get the best views from the highest point of the dunes! Would definitely recommend to a friend!

This is difficult review to write. Because the Sahara is truly amazing and Yassine is an incredible tour guide. Yet, the tour itself has several logistical issues. First, the tour van has 18 seats, but that includes the seat by the door which is a horrible seat to use because it blocks entry and exit for the other passengers unless the person is out of their seat. They should really cap at 17. Second, they were 20 minutes late for my 740am pickup, but there was no communication about being late until I asked after waiting for a long time. My hotel started breakfast at 730am. This means I could have completed my breakfast if they had communicated they were running late. It was a rough start to Day 1. Third, they tried to assign me to a shared room with a stranger, despite having purchased the “Luxury” option and without ever mentioning in the product page that the hotel room may be shared. They ended up providing a private hotel room, but not before a discussion and a day of uncertainty. Finally, many stops along the way to the Sahara were quite commercial, with many tour guides welcoming tips, so bring cash. Overall, the people hired like Yassine are outstanding and the Sahara itself is magical. It just feels like you are on a tourist conveyor belt that packs you in and drains your money on the way there. Understandable, but unfortunate.

Marrakech to Fes via Merzouga

We did the Marrakech-to-Fes: 3 Days-Tour-via-Merzouga-Desert-&-Camel-Trek. The short answer is that i would recommend this trip. The first day, even though it was not that interesting and the drive was veeery long, the many stops and the good vibe of the guide helped a lot. The lunch of the first day (which is not included in the price and is around 12€) was not good and at a very touristy restaurant. You can always choose to eat at another restaurant in the same area but the guides do not appreciate it. The hotel of the first night was good, which means that it was clean and the food was okay. We had a problem with hot water but I think it was because we showered late at night after everyone else, because others did not face the same problem. The next day we went to the Todra gorge. Everything was going okay but then they took us to a carpet place where in my opinion the only purpose was to sell us carpets. You obviously do not need to buy anything (there was some pressure) but it was informative anyways so it was okay. After that we had lunch which was by far better than the previous day (around 10€). We headed to the desert, rode the camels for an hour, sandboarded (included in the price), watched the sunset, had an okay dinner and then there was some music and stargazing. We were at the standard camp so we had a private room but shared bathrooms and showers that had hot water. You need to bring your own shampoo and shower gel, but there were towels. Next morning we woke up early, before sunset, ate breakfast (it was okay), rode the camels (there were quads for anyone that wanted but they were not included in the price) while watching the sunrise which was the highlight of the tour and it was reeeeally worth it. All in all, I would recommend this tour.

Meeting people from different backgrounds. Younes was an excellent driver and guide. Great food and activities such as riding camels, driving ATV, Berbere dances, drinking Moroccan tea and food, visiting historical buildings and learning about their history. Overall a great experience.

Our guide Abdul was great and the other guides we met along the were were very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Youssef and his team really made this trip a good one despite high temperatures, we had plenty of stops in some amazing places, and catered to everyone's needs. The highlight was the Sahara desert of course and we went onto Fes the next day while the remaining tour went back to Marrakesh. I liked that we had short stops on this day since we were knackered and ready to get to Fes.

Todo el tour está más que bien. Alí, el guía muy amable, simpático y atento. Los otros guías que se van incorporando puntualmente, también. La variedad de paisajes, de arquitectura, de colores, es chocante y bonita. Las visitas que se hacen durante el tour están todas bien o muy bien. El hotel donde se hace noche es correcto. Estaba limpio, el personal amable, aunque tampoco podías hacer más qué comer y descansar ya que estaba lejos de todo. Las comidas durante el tour son correctas. Poco variadas, eso sí El campamento en el desierto está muy bien. Mas que suficiente para poder comer, descansar y asearse en un entorno tan lejos de todo. La experiencia estrella, la caminata en camello (dromedario) es espectacular. A pesar de que se palpa la sobre-explotación del desierto. Bastante gente hasta donde te alcanza la vista, quads, 4x4...una vez estás ahí lo vives como algo especial y diferente. La ruta desde Merzouga a Fez es un cambio constante de paisajes. Desde la imagen típica de oasis con palmerales grandiosos hasta llegar a la Suiza de Marruecos y que esté nevando. 😱 Nos gustó y sorprendió mucho. Los vehículos en los que hicimos el tour son confortables. Un consejo, si podéis no ocupéis los asientos traseros. Son más estrechos y con una visibilidad muy justa. Si os toca subir los últimos quizás podáis hablarlo con el resto e ir repartiendo. La gente con la que viajamos en general muy bien. Cómo apunte final: Mi hija (21) perdió el mobil en el campamento del desierto justo antes de montar en los dromedarios e ir a ver la salida del sol. Lloros, nervios, .... Alí, el guía, me dijo que tranquilo, que si el teléfono estaba en el campamento no estaba perdido. Lo dijo con tal seguridad y aplomo que yo me lo creí 100%. Al llegar a Merzouga después de ver salir el sol, llegó el 4x4 con las mochilas. El conductor con la música típica y muy sonriente sacaba el brazo por la ventanilla sosteniendo el mobil en la mano. Mi hija no se lo creía. Estamos muy agradecidos por ese gesto, de verdad.

Wir haben im Großen und Ganzen den Trip sehr genossen. Die einzelnen Sehenswürdigkeiten sind sehr beindruckend und die Nacht in der Wüste durchaus ein tolles Abenteuer. Die Trips werden in Gruppen von ca. 10-12 Personen organisiert. Man sitzt den Großteil der Tour in einem relativen komfortablen Van, die Fahrer sind alle sehr freundlich. Was uns nicht gefallen hat, war allerdings zum einen, dass man nur in Restaurants abgesetzt wurde, die gefühlt nur für diese Trips geöffnet waren. Teure Preise für maximal durchschnittliche Qualität. Zum Anderen wurde ein Vorfall innerhalb der Gruppe von den Tourguides mehr als unprofessionell gehandhabt. Aufhin der Kritik einer Alleinreisenden, wurde diese vor der gesamten Gruppe beim Abendessen vorgeführt. An ein Desert konnte danach keiner mehr denken… sehr schade! Dennoch vielen Dank für das in Summe großartige Erlebnis!
