What To Expect

This private, full-day tour of the Atlas Mountains and Three Valleys starts with an early morning pickup from your hotel a little before 9a.m. Get comfortable as you begin your ride in your air-conditioned minivan to a traditional village and oil cooperative.

Continue up the mountain area with a camel ride, and take in stunning scenic views as you go. Afterward, your guide drives you up to Imlil Valley where you can rest on a terrace to enjoy a cup of Moroccan tea and a piece of cake. Your guide asks you a few options for the rest of the day, including how long of a walk you’d like to take and if you’d prefer to drive, walk, or ride a mule to your next stop.

Once you’ve decided, set out for Ait Souka Village. At the village, follow your guide to the home of a Berber family, and learn about their culture and way of life before heading over to Moulay Brahim near the Asni Valley.

Your day ends with a quiet drive back to Marrakech. Get dropped back off at your hotel when you reach the city. Tours end at different times depending on the options you choose while in the Imlil Valley.

April 2024 The Atlas Mountains are a great contrast to the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. I would strongly recommend this excursion. We saw the Berber villages in this beautiful mountain range. Our guide Issmail was great. He looked out for our group and helped my elderly mom on parts of the hike down the mountain. The tagines at the restaurant where our group ate had the best flavor of all the tagines we tried on this trip. The camel ride quite was memorable for my son and my parents. The camel driver took great pictures for everyone. To be clear, this camel ride is NOT a trek across the Sahara. It was a 20 minute ride along a dried river bed. Think of this as a camel test drive if you are contemplating multi-day camel ride excursions in the Sahara. For most people, this camel ride should be enough. A part of these excursions is always a little bit of a sales opportunity for a local business or two along the way. But I feel that the sales pitch was very tame and respectful on this excursion. Especially at the women's co-op, there was no sales pressure at all to buy their argan oil products. You get great value from this excursion. A great experience. And on hot days, it's a nice way to escape the heat.

Superb Tour with an excellent guide
bernarddaly, May 2024
The walking tour in the Atlas Mountains to the waterfalls! We were very lucky to have an excellent guide who went to a lot of trouble to help both of us to arrive there safely as we are both senior citizens!!
A must do trip, thoroughly recommend

Beautiful fun day out. Picked up from hotel having had time confirmed day before. Short ride on a camel, good experience if you have not been on one before and fun to dress up and take photos of the traditional desert outfits. Enjoyable breakfast with the co-operative that make Argan oil and seeing the demonstrations, nice to be able to buy some products too. Good walk to waterfall, can even get in the water for photos. Absolutely amazing tagine for lunch in one of the villages on the way back, best we had in Marrakesh.
Great tour

Good communication by text from Ismael our guide. We were picked up at 8.30am and the pick up point was clear and confirmed as we were staying in the Medina in a private Riad. Few other pick ups around town - a full minibus of around 16 ppl and a drive to the first stop of camels (dromedaries) one hump camels they have in Morocco . Ismael told us a lot on the way and explained the itinerary for the day really well. The minibus was comfortable and the right temperature. Once we arrived at the camels (40mins) i think it was from Marrakesh, they had great washroom facilities there - so no need to rough it ! - we got dressed up in traditional headscarf ( put on by Ismael ) and dress and went straight outside to get on - we were led around the land opposite the buildings for around 20 minutes - took lots of fun photos all dressed up and made our way back to have mint tea and undress from our headscarves and traditional dress. It was a bit cloudy and drizzly and we were wet getting off camels so I advise warmish clothes - we wore trainers , cargo trousers and hoodies - we soon dried off in the minibus - but u cud take additional clothes if u wanted to as there are facilities to quickly change . Ismael told us where we would go next whilst we were drinking our tea. Next stop we were travelling into the mountains through the villages with some dramatic scenery and finally came to the Argan oil Co-operative where the ladies are all working in making the oil and grinding the nuts . Here we first had a traditional Berber breakfast of different dipping oils and a flat leavened bread - a bit like a Nann but different taste slightly . One of the ladies working here explained the oils what they were and then afterwards explained the process of how the argon oil and products are made . We were then led downstairs for a talk on the products available to buy - there is no pressure to buy anything and u can go and wander outside if u prefer - but we were a group of 4 women and we love skincare so we all wanted to buy some products . Along the way we were shown the devastation caused by the earthquake they had in September 2023 - with lots of Berber people still living in tents and awaiting help from the government to rebuild ,Ismael also told of how the Berber people lives had improved since they built a school and hospital so that the children could get an education and that everyone had access to healthcare locally. It really opened my eyes to how easy our lives are in comparison. Ismael seemed really proud that he had a job as a guide - it came across in how he explained the life of the Berber people and the history both of the Berber and Arabic in Morocco. We made our way to Imlil and met another guide there who took us up the mountain for a short hike to see a waterfall - the route was pretty - there were some opportunities to buy some other products along the way as people have stationed themselves along that route to the waterfall . I bought some peanut brittle which is the best I’ve ever tasted for 20dirham. My friend bought a rug which they expertly rolled and wrapped in a hurry as the guide wanted to get everyone moving ;) The waterfall was pretty enough with some tables and chairs and shaded areas laid out with rugs , and a drinks kiosk where they sold freshly squeezed orange juice which was delicious . Nice spot for some pics before we made our way back . Our final stop was a restaurant set into the dramatic backdrop of the Atlas Mountains where we were served a rice starter , chicken tagine and bread , and cut fruit . Tagline was delicious as everyone has said in other reviews and was €7 so excellent value as was the trip - I really don’t know how they pay everyone considering the price . We tipped our two guides which they don’t expect or ask for but it was a pleasure as they did a great job and it was nice to try and give to the very people that have been affected by the earthquake . Ismael left us after the restaurant as his village was close by and the driver took us back to Marrakesh - we asked him to drop us back to the main square instead of the Riad which he did. What an amazing day - so well worth it . Definitely 5 stars.
Excellent tour guide

hike to the waterfall was really enjoyable! camel ride with mint tea was also a highlight! Lachen also made an incredible tour guide and can tell he really cared about sharing his culture
Simply Amazing!

This was an absolutely brilliant experience. Our driver, Omar, was friendly, polite and had a good sense of humour. He took care of everything. Mohammed was our walking guide in The Atlas Mountains. He spoke great English and nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed every minute and it was great value for money.
Good tour
Max_G, Apr 2024
Camel ride was good and lasted for maybe 20mins. I’ve done camel rides in Dubai which have been for 10meters there and back. Mountains are nice with good views. Waterfall is nothing special but nice walk nonetheless. Lovely view from the spot for lunch which is a small fee for the good food. Traditional house was interesting with some tea, bread and dips. Main downside is there is a lot of driving.
What an awesome day!

My favorite part was getting to ride the camels, and our tour guide Ussf was so kind and accommodating to us.
Excellent
Edit_F, Apr 2024
Amazing tour, our guides (Issmail and Mohammed) made our day unforgettable. Beautiful views, excellent experience.
Harduous but well worth the trip!!
Janet_C, Apr 2024
Was a very harduous day, but well worth it!! Climbing up the mountain to the waterfall was a very hard trek for me! But we had a brilliant guide in Baha, who helped me most of the way, kept making sure I was alright, wouldn’t go too far in front, even when I told him I’d catch up eventually! Held my hand over tricky bit, and was a complete gentleman! The valleys are amazing, as too the waterfall! Well worth the money paid! Which was cheaper than the hotel & the street vendors! Thank you Baha & Viator!!
Outside the city
Hein_K, Apr 2024
It was a great full day with different activities. Gave a good impression of Maroccan life outside of the city. The tourguide was nice, the food was good, and saw a lot of different things.
Great trip!
SarahsSnaps_P, Apr 2024
This was a great day! Wear good hiking shoes or sneakers S you will need them hiking into the waterfall. There will also be a hike down the mountain. Lunch was great! Lahcen was a thoughtful and informative guide, even giving us bracelets that matched our clothing. Would absolutely recommend.
Fantastic day out
Taira_K, Apr 2024
Ismaail was a great guide gave some really good information. The camel ride was excellent, I enjoyed the green valley and the ladies cooperative. The hike through the pallas mountain was excellent and we had a delicious home cooked meal at the end
unfortunately the guide...
Anna_G, Apr 2024
unfortunately the guide sent us the wrong pick-up location (even though they were supposed to pick us up from the hotel) so we didn’t get to go on the trip
Beautiful day trip :)
Anna_A, Apr 2024
Thank you to Issmail and Ibrahim for a wonderful experience. We especially loved the shaded hike through the Atlas Mountains. Would recommend.
Definitely worth a day trip
Charlotte_L, Apr 2024
Our driver Aziz was so friendly and welcoming from the moment he picked us up. He kept us informed all along the route and was happy to take photos of us. The camel ride was only 15 mins but that was enough anyway! Visiting the Berber house added to the day. In the Atlas Mountains we jet our hiking guide, Abdul, who again was so friendly and he knew so much about the area and the local people. It was such an enjoyable day trip.
