Pooja, our amazing tour guide, was not only friendly and funny but also helped us negotiate for bags and treated us to delicious chai. Despite the overall warmth of the community, one unsettling incident occurred when someone in the slum jokingly wielded a large knife at her. It was frightening, but Pooja remained composed and diffused the tension. The tour truly shifted our perception of slums, highlighting the resilience and pride within the community.

Hasan picked us up at our hotel since we chose that option and even stopped to let us see the outdoor laundry so we wouldn’t miss it. Pooja lead a group of 6 of us through the slum area. Several shops were closed because of religious holidays, but we saw enough of the industry and residential areas. It’s a very busy area and you have to watch were you step, and for vehicles.

Our tour guide Puja was excellent. Very informative but also a lot of fun and took time to answer our questions. She is highly recommended but transport before and after the tour was not well organised which made it much longer than advertised.

Amazing and wonderful experience in Dharavi, Dhobi Ghat and the local train. My guide Pooja (a beautiful soul and better guide) show to me a different point of view of the slums and the life in Mumbai. 100% recommend!!

Making a tour through Dharavi slum in Mumbai is really something everybody should do. Having a guide Varsha, a very knowledgable and kind person, allows you to get all the insights to better understand how life is in such an environment.

A great experience! This tour makes you realise that the slums are not what you would ever imagine. Any misconceptions about this place disappear as you wander around the streets.
A hot walk in Dharavi

Sahil and his driver worked us through the traffic of downtown Mumbai and out to the Slum area in thrilling fashion. On our long walk on a very hot day, Sahil showed and explained the various ways in which the residents support themselves. It can be intimidating with so many people living in poverty in such a small area but Sahil gave a positive spin to Dharavi. This is a good tour to take with a good guide and I recommend Sahil. He sent me home in an Uber which worked very well and took a route I had not been on before, also illuminating as the route was not on the "guide's list" of tour routes.
