What To Expect

Begin this walking tour by meeting the guide in front of the Tweed Courthouse in Manhattan. Learn about the history of Brooklyn en route to the world-famous Brooklyn Bridge. Pass Lower Manhattan sites like City Hall and the Municipal Building along the way.

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and learn about its history and architecture. The hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge is one of the oldest in the United States, dating back to 1869, when construction started. It spans 1,595 feet and was the first steel-wire suspension bridge ever constructed. Take in the incredible view of New York City landmarks from here, like the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower and the Chrysler Building, to name a few.

In Brooklyn, head to the neighborhood of Dumbo, which stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. This area has become one of New York City’s premier arts districts, with venues like the Klompching Gallery, known for contemporary fine art photography; St Ann’s Warehouse, a performing arts institution; and the A.I.R. Gallery, the first all-female cooperative gallery in the United States. (Note: These galleries are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.)

Visit Jacques Torres Chocolate, a popular shop featuring handmade artisan chocolates, for a truffle or cookie — or anything else that’s chocolate, of course.

Finally, wind up the tour at the 85-acre Brooklyn Bridge Park along the East River. Be sure to bring a camera, because the waterfront views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge are stunning.

Great information, but just a lot of standing around waiting.
Kristen_B, Dec 2023
The information given was good. However, this tour dragged on forever. There was a lot of people in our group (25) and there were a lot of people on the bridge. We started the tour with information, then would meet up at a spot on the bridge to continue with information. This happened a few times. We would end up just standing there in a spot waiting for all the members to get there and gather around. Then near the end of the tour, we took a bathroom break because there was a public restroom. This was at least 20 minutes of just standing around. Make the groups smaller, move along faster, eliminate the bathroom break, and this would have been much more enjoyable.

We appreciate your feedback, and we hope you found the tour enjoyable in some way. We make every effort to accommodate individuals with different abilities and we need to be sensitive specially to seniors and families to accommodate their need like bathroom break. We wanted every group to be intact and not leaving anyone behind in the tour. Again, we thank you for your feedback.

A wonderful and informative tour, at exactly the right pace by a knowledgeable tour guide. Kevin is obviously very passionate about history and it was a well constructed and enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting New York, whether a first timer or a more regular visitor as myself.

Great walk
Paul_P, Apr 2023
Great way to see parts of the city we didn't know and get a history of the area. My only concern was that the group size (24) was a little bit big. Half that number would have been better, but overall very good
Fun time

The last couple of stops in Brooklyn were unnecessary. We waited for parties that then left the group anyway.
Highly recommend

Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided just the right amount of detail. The walk was just the right length, especially on a chilly day.

Our guide Kevin was outstanding. He knew his facts, was pleasant, didn't lose any of us. We had beautiful weather. I'm very happy with the tour. It was a present for my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas.

We had a fantastic knowledgeable guide. This is the only way to learn about the history of the Bridge and the Dumbo (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) area. Would highly recommend.

Great way to see and hear about the area! We got some interesting background information that we never would have known. In addition to a stellar view of the city, there are also amazing food choices at the end of the tour!!! My kind of day.
