What To Expect
See Hawaii’s most popular historical spot — and one of the most historically significant sites in America — on a tour of the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum in Ford Island, located in the heart of Pearl Harbor. The museum, a former Naval Air Station and National Historic Landmark, is filled with aviation memorabilia. Go behind the scenes and discover the heroes and events of the Pacific War.
Visit Hangar 37, the entry point for visitors to the museum. On the day of the attack, it served as the hangar for utility squadron VJ-1, firing back at the Japanese from machine guns aboard amphibious biplanes. Also, visit Hangar 79, aka the Restoration Shop, still riddled with bullet holes left by the Japanese attack. During the war, it was a maintenance and engine-repair facility, filled with fighters, bombers and patrol aircraft based in Pearl Harbor or headed to the front lines.
Also, climb aboard a flight simulator to take part in a virtual dogfight and watch the award-winning documentary entitled ‘East Wind, Rain,’ a 12-minute film detailing the events of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
