What To Expect

Following pickup at your hotel in Waikiki, take a short ride to the Ala Moana Beach. 

Meet your stand-up paddleboard (SUP) instructor, who will give you a brief orientation and get you acquainted with all the necessary equipment for your 1- or 2-hour lesson. Choose from the morning or afternoon time slot for your small-group or private lesson.

Head for the calmest, warmest spot on the beach; perfect for learning this fun sport. Get tips on reading the current and making turns, then learn how to hold your paddle correctly, steer and stay upright when on the water. Once you feel confident, head out and get the feel of the sport on the flat water, then ride the waves if you get ambitious. You may have found your new favorite hobby, and now you know a great spot to return to if you'd like to keep practicing.

At the conclusion of your lesson, return to the beach and get a ride back to your hotel.

It’s something I’ve been wanting to try for years and Surf Honolulu made that possible. Ridge was a great instructor and took me through all the ‘moves’ on dry land first before we entered the water. Once on the water, the paddling was fun and I didn’t fall off once! And as a plus, got to see a large sea turtle up close. A great experience which I thoroughly recommend 😊👍

Nate was great with communication, and was a great instructor for paddleboard. He was patient, kind, and very helpful with my level/comfort. Definitely recommend.
