A morning well spent!
Gyzelle_H, Apr 2024
Miguel our tour guide was excellent. He explained the history with great knowledge and passion, bringing it to life. He was happy to answer everyone’s questions too! It was hot day, so Miguel did most of his talk under the shade of trees - thank goodness! :)) I took an umbrella which was a godsend and really helped. I enjoyed the tour and recommend it to others. However, the unexpected highlight of the morning, was the incredible sound of the cicadas- so loud!!!
Viator has the wrong site for tour meeting location.
DrOm_S, Apr 2024
Viator app and email have the wrong meeting site location for the tour. Few minutes before meeting time with no one around at the given meeting siteI had to text the tour subsidiary company ( Viator is using a local company for this tour ) to say no one is around. He/she text me back with a link of different meeting location. Luckily it was 5 minutes walk from Viator given location site. We almost missed the tour. As far as the subsequent tour it was good and informative. The tour guide was excellent. I hope Viator correct its tour meeting site location so future guest do not have to go through this ordeal.
Great Monte Alban tour
jayson_g, Apr 2024
Miguel was a great tour guide. No complaints whatsoever. Highly recommend this tour. Perfect amount of time for the guided tour and to roam around freely, check out the museum, and possible eat at the cafe. Also recommend getting to Monte Alban in the am to avoid the intense April heat!
Great choice of tours

Well organized and easy tour! Our driver was great and the guide was clearly passionate and professional. Really a wonderful tour-exceeded my expectations!
Excellent tour guide!
Connie_H, Apr 2024
This half-day excursion to Monte Alban was just right for our timetable. Pickup right from our hotel, very comfortable transportation, and an excellent guided tour from Miguel. His recommendation to visit the Museum of Cultures of Oaxaca (adjacent to the Santo Domingo Church) was a great one too!
Fantastic Experience
Yiting_C, Apr 2024
Had a fantastic time visiting the ruins at Monte Alban. Our tour guide Miguel was extremely knowledgable and shared many interesting facts and stories with us. We also had plenty of time to walk around and take photos. Would highly recommend this.
Highly recommended!!!

Ancient Ruins and an Awesome Guide
Jonathan_J, Apr 2024
The Monte Alban guide was a walking textbook! He was so knowledgeable in every aspect of the tour. His stories were both informative and entertaining. We went on the half day tour which was enough time to explore and hear the guides lessons.
A tour not to miss

Incredible site not to be missed. Beware there is no shade. Bring plenty of water. Manuel was an excellent and humorous tour guide.
Quality tour of Monte Alban
Daniel_B, Mar 2024
Well organized and informative tour. Our guide spoke excellent English and we had plenty of time to explore the ruins. My only complaint is that considering the high price of the tour, it should either include the price of admission or be limited to fewer guests as there were about 30 of us on the tour.
Great experience
Neil_K, Mar 2024
A great experience with a very knowledge guide. Buses well organised and comfortable, even in traffic.
Tour guide Miguel (English) so much fun
Norma_V, Mar 2024
Half a day at Monte Alban was perfect. We were picked up in front of our Airbnb and transported in air conditioned van with others. Our tour guide spoke great English and was very informative and interesting. We were allowed to enter a tomb which was exciting. Great experience overall. Highly recommend you book with Miguel!!
Not to be missed!
Darlene_Z, Mar 2024
Monte Alban is a stunning and fascinating site, made even more so by guide Miguel, whose knowledge of Zapotec history and culture as well as of the archeological story are remarkable. Very highly recommended.
Amazing history!
Darci_H, Mar 2024
Miguel was a fabulous tour guide- truly passionate about the ruins. The ruins were amazing, and the Miguel provided contributed significantly to the experiences. Transportation was comfortable and easy to find, and you spend as much time as you wanted at the ruins as there was transportation back to Oaxaca Centro every hour.
This tour has to be shorter and faster. Climate change= NOT good for standing around in heat!
Catherine_C, Mar 2024
Because of the heat, it was very hard to enjoy the tour or to learn from it. One person asked intelligent questions but many of them good have been answered with Wikipedia and other connections. TOO HOT to stand around for 2 hours. Maybe the tour operators are trying to get people to stay and spend more money! But they HAVE to adjust to climate change. Oaxaca and surrounding area are 10 degrees F higher than average. When I was here last year on the same dates, it was hot BUT NOT LIKE THIS!
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hello there !, thanks for sharing your comments! This Miguel , Lescas Co Tour Guide an yes March 2024 is has been hotter than expected , but not only here but all over the world this is the case , our tour tries to be as soon as Monte alban opens (830-845am) not only because of the heat but also to avoid other big groups , but at the same time you need to remember its an archaeological site, ruins, pyramides, etc, , walking , exploring will be outside and up the hill , up the pyramids ... So ... If you are interested on this and appreciate the history and cultural heritage requires to do an effort to enjoy it , no matter the circumstances (rain, heat, jungle, etc), we suggest to bring water and a hat or choosing other months to visit this when the weather suits you ! And on the other hand , this is guided tour and as a Tour Guide myself is very difficult to summarize 3000 years of history in 2 hours on the contrary people always tell me to share more with them , I Cannot rush to the site but i do look for trees with a nice shade to talk about it ,of course you are always free to walk on you own , no problem !if you prefer Wikipedia, Doing a guided Tour might not be for you ! you can always do our shuttle transportation without a guide that we also provide every hour . And when it comes to stay longer and spend more money?well...to us You will only pay for the Tour and your admission fee at the site , its up to you how much more will you expend (restaurant, water , hat, beer , ice cream, souvenirs, books, etc) Sorry for the inconveniences, wish i had know before all of this so as to help you out Miguel -TourGuide Lescas Co Tours
A great overview
Cody_N, Mar 2024
This is the perfect tour for anyone that wants to see Monte Alban, but is worried about being outside in the heat all day. The actual tour is about 1.5 hrs (the whole experience is about 4 hrs) and our tour guide, Miguel, knew all the shady spots to step out of the sun for a minute. Miguel kept the tour fun and interesting, sharing great general history of the area and Zapotec people as well as the architecture of the site. Highly recommended!
Wonderful Experience
Ajith_N, Mar 2024
This was a great tour , especially with Miguel Sr being super knowledgeable on various aspects of the ruins and the ways of Zapotecs as well. This is a short trip from Oaxaca city and the guided walk at the site itself lasted about 3 hrs., including the time at the museum and the cafeteria. you will need to pay for the tickets ( 95 MXN ) and your food. Don't miss this trip to Monte Alban ... thanks to Alfonso Caso for all his work here...that we now know more about the Zapotecs....amazing !
Monte Alban worth the trip
DIANE_M, Mar 2024
Amazing site. I had no idea of the expanse of it. Really fascinating hearing about the history and significance of the place. Wear a hat and take water though!
