Betsaida was 100% the best part of the trip! She was wonderful and knowledgeable and made the whole day fun and memorable. She was recommended to us by other travelers that we met. She asked the group at the end if we had any suggestions to change about the tour and everyone practically shouted ‘No’. Everyone said ‘1000/10’ tour. Recommend doing it at the beginning of the trip because then she gives you an amazing restaurant list and places to visit list after!

Best food tour!!!

Absolutely adored this food tour! Our tour guide Betsaida was phenomenal in her knowledge and organisation of the entire tour (which she runs by herself!), she took us to so many spots at a nice, easy pace and we got the chance to sample an array of authentic Oaxacan food that we just wouldn’t have been able to on our own. We also got to visit 3 markets (again, would not have known about these or been able to do this in the short time we had in Oaxaca!) which were really cool to experience, definitely the highlight of the trip! Cannot recommend this enough and thank you again to Betsaida who is a gem and looked after us all so well - if you’re short on time in Oaxaca but want to try all the foods then this is the tour for you!

Our tour guide, Betsaida, was a delight! High energy, knowledgeable, and eager to highlight the rich cultural and historical influences of Oaxacan cuisine. The food we experienced was wonderful; at each stop Bethsaida provided background info on ingredients, preparation, and the region of origin. We tasted a variety of indigenous fruits, items from established/well known street vendors, and a fantastic sit down grilled meat meal at the Mercado 20 De Noviembre. In addition to offering info on Oaxacan food, our guide provided her insights on local crafts, regional history, languages and dialects, and other cultural influences of the area. All together, a fantastic day and highly recommended!

The best thing in Oaxaca!

All I can say is WOW! This was the best thing we did in Oaxaca. Betsaida focuses on pre-Hispanic food, culture and traditions. It’s amazing to find out how much culture around you in Oaxaca is 500ish years old. The food was incredible and so delicious. Not too much, just the right amount. We came away from the tour with a great understanding of the layout of Oaxaca city, and felt empowered to hit the markets on our own. I have a much better understanding of Oaxacan cuisine now. This is a must-do!

Great Oaxaca experience through street food.

The food on this tour was very delicious, tour operator was very knowledgable and handle all food served with most hygiene possible for street eating, There was a great variety of tasting, from breakfast to drinks and desert, to Mescals tasting, and even a variety of local interesting insects and fruits, I thought it was the great way to experience Oaxaca and its main streets, markets and food.

Amazing experience worth every penny!!! Our guide was Bethsaida and she was lovely and fluent in English. We walked all over downtown making several food stops and learning the history and ingredients of everything we were eating. We went to three markets and tasted so many local fruits and vegetables that are not popular or know. In the USA. We had time to buy some of the products used in our meals. They were very sensitive to food allergies and special needs or tourists. What am amazing experience this tour was we loved it!!!!!

This food tour was absolutely fantastic! We ate so many different things from breakfast tacos on the street to tamales and mexican hot chocolate in teh market, a tropical fruit break, finishing with crispy crickets and smoked meats and vegetables at smoking alley. The whole tour was so well prepared - we were given tote bags with water and cutlery and given hand sanitiser at each stop. Betheseda our guide/host was such a warm and brilliant host and she made us all smile and laugh with her anecdotes and foodie knowledge. If I'd had more tiem in teh city I would dfeinitely have done a cookery class with her too. Just bear in mind that it takes up a large chunk of the day and that you spend less time in the famous markets.

Enthusiastic and authentic intro to Oaxaca

There are a number of food tours available here in Oaxaca, but I think we picked the perfect one. Betsaida and Katia were amazing tour guides who introduced us to meals and vendors that are authentically Oaxacan, and took us through breakfast and lunch with snacks in between while sharing the cultural context of what we were trying. I especially appreciated the introduction to fruit and honey that you can’t get back in the US. We heartily recommend this as the perfect activity for your first full day in this beautiful city!

Our guide was a wonderful Oxacan lady who had such enthusiasm for her culture and food! Everything was considered including hand sanitizer and wet wipes. We started with tacos, coffee and tortillas and ended up with grilled meats and grasshoppers. We had everything in between including delicious fresh fruits and mescal tastings along the way. The food was delicious and plentiful. Come on an empty stomach as you will be eating your way across Oxaca. I highly recommend this tour.

What an amazing food tour! The best we’ve ever experienced. Our guide Betsaida was the best - friendly, very funny and knowledgeable. The logistics were so smooth and well handled, and the food and drinks were incredible! So much variety - truly a large sample of Oaxacan cuisine. We could not have been more satisfied with the experience.

This tour was amazing as we met at 9am and finished by 3pm tasting 20+ Oaxacan dishes including fruits and Mezcals. The tour guide Betsaida and her assistant were fantastic as they explained the history of the city and intricacies of the various foods and drinks. The guides also had mini tote bags for us with utensils and hand sanitizers. Very well organized and fantastic meals as you truly experience the local cuisine from the various vendors. Excellent food tour!

This Food Tour was fantastic! We toured women-owned street vendors and market places to sample the breadth of Oaxacan food. It was fabulous - tasty and interesting, as Betsaida explained what we were eating and seeing as we walked through the markets. On our first day in Oaxaca, this tour not only introduced us to the food, but taught us SO much about Oaxacan culture. It was an excellent intro to the place we would be exploring throughout the week. Betsaida's enthusiasm, sense of humor, and love of her culture provided such an interesting day with her! Unfortunately, I was too stuffed to eat much at the last stop.
