Lakes, Monkeys, Canals, and Forts! Great all-in-one day trip experience from Panama City
Mark_P, Apr 2024
Our family agreed this was the best day of our week stay in Panama. We had Mike/Michael as our guide and he was very personable and knowledgeable. During one full day, we were able to spend time on Gatun Lake in a small boat -- passing ships navigating the canal and seeing monkeys on the shore; watched a ship move through the canal locks at the Atlantic Ocean side; and visited a UNESCO world heritage site at Fort Lorenzo. The lunch provided was very yummy too.
excellent tour

We left at 6am, which sounds crazy, but it was a good idea for better wildlife viewing, fewer tourists, and less traffic. Panama has terrible traffic jams. We were on a small bus with about 15 people total. We went to a boat ride in Gamboa that took us up the Panama Canal. We saw crocodile, howler monkeys, Capuchin monkeys, tamarin, sloth, blue morpho, Jesus Christ lizard, iguanas, capybara and several birds. No mosquitoes. We passed several huge ships within the canal. One was loaded with 18wheeler tankers, which looked like matchbox toys compared to the ship that they were stacked upon. Then we went to the Gatun locks Agua Clara visitor center to watch the canal in action. Very cool. If you have any appreciation for engineering, it is awesome. We also went to Fort Lorenzo on the Caribbean. A Spanish fort from 1598 from where the conquistadors walked to Peru to conquer Incas and steal gold and carry the gold back here to Panama. The route around Cape Horn was not discovered until 1616. We had a Panamanian lunch included of rice n beans, spicy chicken, plantains, and coleslaw. It was very good. A Very good tour and worthwhile. No problems or screw ups.
Great way to see and experience history.

Mike was a great guide. The timing at the canal to see a ship passing through was fantastic. Could not recommend enough. Worth every penny.
Great trip to see and learn a ton
Gareth_P, Apr 2024
Overall great trip to see and do a ton of Panamas top highlights. As someone that has travelled a lot, John is by far one of the best tour guides I’ve experienced. Extremely knowledgeable and well prepared, including slides, he definitely made the trip fantastic.
Well done

Perfect blend of adventure, culture, and convenience
Anja_S, Mar 2024
We spent a ton of time comparing the different rainforest excursion options we could find and can honestly say we couldn't be happier to have chosen this one. Our guide Mike was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and topped it off with a great sense of humor. All the little details on transportation etc get sent out the day before. We got to see an awesome blend of nature and history and everything was well organized. The Agua Clara locks were DEFINITELY the right choice for canal viewing. Also, as an additional bonus, we really felt Mike did a great job not only giving a great tour but also taking proper care of the wildlife and the local restaurants and people who helped him put on the event. 100/10 would recommend, this is the tour if you want to get the most out of your Panama visit.
The best full day tour!
RickWalen, Mar 2024
John was an incredible guide. We enjoyed the best of everything from the informative details while riding between locations, to the boat ride where we saw crocodiles, two different species of monkeys, turtles, iguanas and even some bats! The lock at Agua Clara was very interesting and the lunch provided at the Castillo was delicious. We even got to see a coati while eating lunch! The fortress was very interesting and even though the day was incredibly hot, John provided umbrellas to shield us from the sun. The entire experience is something that I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Panama. The tour had everything and was worth every penny!
Coast to coast tour

MerissaH, Mar 2024
This was a great experience and would definitely do it again. I learned so much about the Panama Canal. Our tour guide Mike was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations.
do yourself a favor and book this one
Veronique_D, Mar 2024
This was by far the best tour we have taken. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, and gave us so much information about wildlife and the history of Panama -- all in perfect English. How can one person remember so much information? We were impressed! We saw the canal, visited the locks (our guide timed it perfectly with the arrival of a container ship), got on a great boat ride and saw crocodiles, monkeys, birds of all kinds. We ate well, recovered from heat in the bus with A/C, and learned and saw so much of Panama City's surrounding areas. Absolutely fabulous and 100% would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Panama City.... And we don't even usually like to go on tours.
