Overview

The Tonto National Forest is the largest in Arizona and the Lower Salt River runs right through its heart. On this tour, admire the natural scenery from the water on a thrilling kayaking excursion. Set out from Saguaro Lake Ranch, paddle along the Salt River, and look out for native wildlife, including the park’s herd of wild horses.

Your launch time is the time we leave. Please plan to ARRIVE FIFTEEN MINUTES or more, BEFORE YOUR TIME to complete the check-in process. Waivers are required to be signed prior and verified on arrival before parking passes and wristbands are given for your trip departure.

No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
Minimum age is 12 years & 4'6" tall

Maximum weight is kayak/275 lbs & paddleboard/260 lbs.
NO double kayaks/only singles
Not recommended for participants who do not know how to swim.
Participant must be comfortable with an UNGUIDED river excursion. While this is primarily a scenic float, there are sections of swift water and kayakers often tip out - so be prepared to get wet.
Must sign a waiver prior to arrival. Waiver link email will be sent to you after booking, please call if you do not receive the email.
Dress to be in the heat and to get wet!
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 13 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

The staff were all fantastic and helpful. The views down the river were wonderful. We saw several wild horses- which was a super bonus. We loved everything about the trip, even the drive to and from the meeting spot. And the light rapids were exciting- but safe and easy.

Excellent River Adventure

I am a senior woman who went on the unguided trip. This was my first kayaking adventure. We had several people in our group on both paddle boards and kayaks. I met another senior woman who was also solo and we were Kayak Buddies. We had a wonderful time on the river and met several nice people along our journey. The river was flowing great so there were some areas that were more aggressive but totally doable for beginning kayakers. Good value for the cost. Organized and very little wait time. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. The box lunch that you can order for after your trip was delicious. I will definitely be back with my family next year. A beautiful way to spend your morning.

Beautiful day water was cool and refreshing. River was not crowded on Friday April 12 , 2024. Good mixture of calm and swift water with small rapids suitable for beginners also. Highlight was we saw several wild horses.
