Overview

Cruise to Capri by traditional island ‘gozzo’ boat on a day-long trip from Positano or Praiano. In a small-group of up to twelve people, you’ll cruise away from the Amalfi Coast and around the fashionable little island, stopping for a swim and admiring its legendary sea grottos. Then, make the most of four hours of free time on the island itself to shop, sunbathe, or explore.

What To Expect

Leave for the island of Capri from Positano beach (Spiaggia Grande), or the main piers at Gavitella or La Praia beaches in Praiano. Aboard a traditional wooden gozzo, you’ll cruise over the Tyrrhenian Sea to the chic limestone island that is Capri.

Cruise around the island to visit the white and green caves as well as the famous Blue Grotto, which is lit up by light from an underwater cavity. Entrance is not included, but the sight of the cave’s blue reflection is worth the expense.

After a cool-down dip in the sea, you’ll dock on Capri to enjoy four hours of free time. Stroll around the Piazzetta, browse the chic shops, or visit Anacapri for sweeping sea views.

Meet back by your boat at the agreed time, then cruise over to the mainland, enjoying views of the trio of sea rocks known as the Faraglioni di Capri and the scenic headland of Punta Campanella. Your experience ends when you dock back at Positano or Praiano.

Our captain on the boat Luigi was amazing !! So fund and did a great job driving the boat Highly recommend !! Way better than taking a ferry to Capri We toured the island of Capri then took a much needed dip in the water We got to see a few grottos but not the blue grotto, which was okay- it was a 2 hr wait in the heat and it just wasn’t worth it for our short time with our boat. He made sure to take all our photos at key points on the boat. Highly recommend !!!

Beautiful day on the boat

We had a wonderful day on the boat tour to Capri! Giuseppe was a fantastic captain and tour guide. He showed us all the sights along the coast. We had the perfect amount of time in Capri to have lunch and swim for a bit. Would highly recommend this excursion!

Everything I wanted and then some! This boat trip checked all the boxes! Tour of the grottos, unbelievable views, time to explore Capri, and finished off with a refreshing swim! It was perfect. Fabio was our guide and he was a real gem! Informative, fun, stopped to take everyone’s photos. He was a real pleasure and easy to get along with. After our swim he handed us all a glass of Prosecco! It was unexpected but certainly welcomed! The perfect way to end an amazing day trip!

Was disappointed in this trip to capri. Our names were called and just got on the boat. The tour guide hardly spike any e flush therefore no instructions on what the trip involved or no interaction with the guest. Did not even tell us that there were drinks on board for us! We only got 1 swim stop for 20 minutes! Capri is amazing but the tour itself was not worth the money we paid.

Guide and captain Fabio was amazing and we had great conversations and he talked lots about towns, spots and hidden gems. Couldnt have asked for more really. More convenient/comfortable than a ferry but not necessary

It was a more comfortable way to travel to Capri than the Ferry as the boat is a good size for 12 (and we only had 10). The grottos are nothing special, though, (maybe the Blue Grotto is on a sunny day, but it wasn't sunny so we didn't stop). In fact, all 10 on the boat asked the driver to skip the rest of the grottoes to get back sooner. The only other advantage vs. a ferry besides comfort is that we stopped in front of the Faraglioni rocks for individual photos that the driver took for each of us Note: If you're planning to make dinner reservations, this tour did not end at the stated time. It was stated that it would end at 5, and we got back at 5:30. Had we waited for the Blue Grotto, it would have been closer to 7, so plan dinner accordingly!

It was a rainy day, but that was no fault of the tour. The boat driver was careful and a good guy. We walked up the hill to Capri from the Marina Grande and then took a bus to Anacapri. We took another bus back to the Marina in time to catch the boat.

A great day on the water! We cruised completely around the island with stops at both the green gratto and blue gratto which were amazing. Because Capri was so crowded we could have used more time but it was still a great day.

Not worth the money - overpriced water taxi

This was essentially an overpriced water taxi from Positano to Capri - not worth the money spent. The boat driver was pleasant enough to but really only called out a cave when we came upon it and spoke to us when he was telling us where he was dropping us off at Anacapri for four hours. The tour guide that accompanied him never spoke to us and she fell asleep on the bench in the back of the boat on the way back to Positano. The small mouthwash size bit of Prosecco at the end didn’t make it any better. Money would be better spent on just getting a ferry there or another tour.

Falling a bit short

This trip we were so excited for and somewhat fell short - our boat ride to capri was somewhat lackluster with our captain who wasn’t super charismatic, only got 3 hours on Capri instead of 4 as expected, you don’t actually get a chance to go into the blue grotto via the canoes or another small boat, we just got to look at it from the outside as passing by (though it was stated that the blue grotto fee wasn’t included on this trip, we thought maybe you’d be able to pay on board to enter, or make this a stop and enter, etc). We would’ve much rather had a quick stop in the blue grotto and pay instead of a super long winding trip to get to Capri. Once on the island, you have to take a crowded hot bus or $20 one-way cab ride to actually get into the city of Capri or Anticapri for exploration beyond the beach. On the boat, not enough waters were packed for everyone on board, and it was very very hot. The one thing we really enjoyed was the swim which was amazing in the warm clear water… however, we also thought we’d be snorkeling but just swam (potentially our misunderstanding). Then coming home, as we’re all very tired and ready to get home, we take a very long winding trip home along the coast for 1.5 hours, and THEN you have to wait in line in the positano waters to get a spot to dock - it took 45 mins due to boat traffic, which was pretty tough to stand after being on the boat and hot all day just waiting to get back on land - you could tell our whole group was angsty to get off the boat. All in all, we’re happy we got to see Capri and swim but just expected a bit more from this trip.

Amazing boat captain & experience!

This was one of the best Viator experiences I’ve been on as the captain was wonderful and really took his time to show us around! It took an hour to get to Capri and we had 3 hours to explore which was enough time to have lunch, do some shopping and take a dip at the beach. We then went to a nice secluded area of the coast to swim in the ocean and the captain even gave us snorkels to look at the fish. All in all, well worth the money since the entire trip was 8-9 hours. Had such a great time and there was 12 of us on the boat (all couples)!

We knew going to Capri was going to be a good experience, but this tour was extremely good. This was a small friendly group. Giuseppe was the best captain recommending the best choices and taking us to the main points of interest. I highly recommend this tour, you won’t be disappointed.

Great views. The grotto. May need to insist on stopping there as we were encouraged not to and that is why we picked the trip. Boat didn’t have a bathroom which on a 10 hour trip was a problem. Docked in Capri on the other side of the island and it was a 20 euro cab ride to Capri town

A magical day on the water!

This was one of the most memorable experience of my Italy trip! It was the perfect day on the water and so relaxing but you also were able to explore and learn. Francisco was so helpful and took as many pictures as we wanted! We got to explore Capri for 4 hours (chose to go to town for a little then hit a local beach) then the rest of the time you are on the boat and see the amazing views. We also got to take a dip in the water which was amazing! I highly recommend booking!!

Experience ok but not good as expected

Nice trip with some things that could be better. We booked this boat because we wanted to be at maximum 8 people (also due to the Covid) but we were 13! For some visit, nothing was booked and they asked us to wait at least 1 hour! Experience ok in General but not as good as we thought
