Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

I've wanted to take surfing lessons for a long time but for whatever reasons I didn't. I finally decided to sign up and boy I got lucky! I was the only one that day and I got 1-1 private lesson! The brothers Christian and Jonathan are wonderful and very patient! They took me to a secluded and calm beach, perfect for beginners. By 5th wave I was riding the wave and standing on the board. I have never surfed before, but I'm athletic and practice yoga balancing poses, and pilates maybe that helped! I highly recommend this business, that picked me up from my Airbnb, I am a solo female traveler. The experience was so awesome, that I want to get into surfing now! They also took amazing photos which I will cherish forever! Thank you, gracias brothers!

Amazing Experience

This was an amazing experience. Our instructors were amazing at teaching everything needed in a very easy way to understand. Then would give you tips as you go to help you get a little better each time. I got up on the waves my first time and my fiance got up on her second. I would highly recommend to anyone even contemplating doing this!

We really enjoyed our surf lessons with Okala and would highly recommend this group to anyone! We are a family of 5, including 3 kids (7, 12 and 14). Everyone in our group got the hang of it and had a great time surfing for our first time. The kids were very well taken care of and our youngest was totally safe and well looked after the whole time she was in the water. We were picked up on time at our hotel and the whole day was just fun and easy going. The instructors were very friendly, easy to talk to and made sure we had a blast the whole time. We felt like we got a really good local experience and would definitely book this excursion again!

Great first time surfing instruction!

My brother and I were visiting and wanted to try surfing for the first time. Okala is run by a family of three brothers, and they were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable! They picked us up right from our hotel which was very convenient. They gave excellent instruction and made sure that we had a great time, even providing water and snacks. By the end we were both able to pop up and ride waves all the way to the sand. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to learn how to surf!

The entire package, starting from the pick-up, providing rash guard, surfing advice, capturing photos, snacks, and shower was perfect and really thoughtfully planned. The surfing itself was so fun, especially because the spot was pretty empty. Without a doubt, I'll be going to Okala Surf School when I return to Puerto Vallarta!

Amazing time in the water! The instructors are patient, accommodating and have a great attitude. They pick the beach according to your level and current water conditions. I ended up about 90min in water, with a short break. Ride and photos included! Highly recommended - look no further :)

SO MUCH FUN! 10/10 definitely recommend for you and your family to enjoy! Im 20 and I went with both of my parents to learn how to surf for the first time and it was amazing. The instructors are incredible teachers who are helping you along every step of the way. Jonathan and his brother Kalany were awesome and made it super easy to catch waves. Even for my parents who are older and did not think they would succeed caught many waves with the help of the instructors. This is an activity for everyone, I definitely recommend! For sure going to come back here for more lessons in the future!

What a great experience! The Martinez brothers are awesome. This was our first time surfing. They are so accommodating, knowledgeable, patient, and experienced. The one on one teaching is hands down the best. After a few try’s we were standing up catching waves! Our favorite experience in Puerto Vallarta. We will be back to do again!

Ideal for beginners, kid (& mom) friendly!

I booked this for my 12yo son (& myself (mom) as a spectator) as a shore-excursion during our cruise. This experience was an outstanding value for the level of personal service provided. We were picked up by 2 brothers, who drove us directly to a nice beach close by (maybe 20 min in the car). We were dropped off right at the entrance to the beach, walked a short distance where he set up our umbrella to drop our bag & towels. They provided my son a rash guard shirt to wear (included), then both brothers spent the next hour actively working with my son for his lesson - which was perfect for his level, age & ability (beginner). They helped him carry the board, navigate the waves, were positive, encouraging, & MADE SURE he had fun. While one brother went out into the waves with him - the other remained on the beach, taking pictures with their very nice camera & "catching" him as he surfed in. They are going to email me a link to download all the pictures - which was "included" in the price of the lesson!! My son felt safe & comfortable enough that he asked to go out deeper in the waves (which he usually doesn't want to do) & he was also having fun with the pictures (which he usually tries to avoid). There were showers at the beach to rinse off sand & we were then escorted back to the car & driven back to port. As much fun as my son had with the brothers in the ocean, I really enjoyed getting to RELAX while they took care of everything for me - including taking pictures. This was MY favorite part of our 7-day cruise vacation because the brothers took care of everything for us & had fun with us. Chatting with the brothers in the car about their surf school - their school can accommodate all sizes of parties & all levels of surfing ability - for my "mom-with-12-yr-old" adventure, it was just a perfect trip to the beach!

Fantastic day with this team! We loved learning how to surf and the guys were awesome. With 3 teenage boys looking for some adventure, we had a ton of fun!! They have several places along the coast they can take you depending on the waves. I would highly recommend this experience for any family.

The instructors were amazing!!! Great spot and one in one instruction. Would recommend 10/10. I’ve surfed all over the world and these waves and instructors were some of my favorite! All three beginners loved it.
