  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Fantastic adventure!

What an incredible day. Luis picked me up at my hotel and off we went up to the nearly empty national park where it felt like we were the only two people in the area. Along the way we were fortunate to spot not one but 10 (!!) condors soaring and playing together. Given that there are approximately 100 birds total in existence, we saw a remarkable 10% of them. It was breathtaking to watch them - especially when they swooped down close to us. We continued up to the park with stops along the way to spot seedeaters, flowerpiercers, caracaras, black-faced ibises, tyrants, variable hawks, and an abundance of deer. Once in the park, we hiked up to about 13000ft and the mountain came out of the clouds for most of our time there providing incredible views. On the way back, we stopped for a lovely typical Ecuadorean lunch at a small local restaurant, where the hummingbirds were out in full force. Luis was an excellent guide with deep knowledge of the area and its inhabitants - and a great sense of humor - and I felt very lucky to have him as my teacher. It could not have been a better day and I highly recommend this excursion.

The views. Most amazing scenery. Nature is Nature, we missed out on the condors unfortunately. Never mind. We went for a meal and the restaurant was brilliant. Had some lovely gifts there to buy.

This tour was awesome!!! It is about a two hour drive from Quito but worth it. Our guide Miriam (sorry if I botched the spelling) was right on time for an easy pickup from our hotel lobby. Our driver met us with a private car and Miriam provided some great information about Ecuador and Quito that made the drive pass quickly. Our first stop was a visit to the Condor outlook where we spent some time viewing them flying above the mountains. Along the way to Antisana National Park Miriam pointed out lots of wildlife and made sure to stop so we could take photos. After a hike and some time to take in the scenery, we headed to Tambo Condor where we had some fabulous food while watching from an overlook to spot more condors and hummingbirds flying around. Can’t recommend this tour enough.

We really enjoyed the day. We saw 1 condor, many hummingbirds, white tail deer, and caracaras. The guide, Andres, was knowledgeable and very personable. Antisana park is very nice.

We had a lovely day with Luis! He knows absolutely everything there is to know about the flora and fauna of the surroundings. As two students travelling on a budget, it was worth every penny! Would 100% recommend if you are a nature fan and especially if you also love birdwatching.

Awe inspiring

This trip was all that was promised including all four seasons of weather in just a few short hours. Luis possessed many knowledges and answered all our questions about birds, flora, the terrain, the history, and the country. He had a keen eye and could find all kinds of birds hopping among the tall grasses. He also tailored the experience to our prioirities. We were still adjusting to the altitude yet wanted to take the longer moderate hike up the mountain. Luis adjusted the pace of the hike to our needs. We saw beautiful volcanoes, lagoons, and many birds such as rare hummingbirds and condors. Antisana wreathed in ever changing clouds was amazing! The delicious lunch was a bonus.

Great birdwatching adventure

Daniel was our tour guide for the day. We saw many condors at multiple locations. He knew where to stop to get the best opportunities to see them as well as other birds. We were able to see black face ibis, caracara, Andean gulls and coots. The scenery is really nice with a great view of the snow capped Antisana volcano and a hike at Mica Lake. The trip included a wonderful lunch at a nice bird watching lodge overlooking the cliffs where condors and Andean bears are frequently seen.

This was a great trip. Leaving at 7 from Quito, makes for a good day and not coming back to late. We stopped at a condor lookout we're we had the pleasure of seeing up to 10 condors dancing in the wind, just majestic! The walk at Antisana Park was rough because of weather conditions, no good views. But of course this is something the guide or agency cannot control. It was such a good day and Hugo is a great guide with a lot of knowledge.

Great day for condors

What a great trip. Our guide, Effy, really knows his stuff; from local information to the flora and fauna. Don't know how typical our trip was but we saw plenty of wildlife including about a dozen condors including 2 or 3 perched on the cliff. Never would have seen these if Effy hadn't brought a spotting scope and tripod. Definitely the highlight of the day.

Fun tour

Hugo is an expert driver and an excellent tour guide. Our tour began as soon as we left the hotel. We didn't see any condors this time, but plenty of other birds and even some deer. The drive itself is an interesting look at Quito and the surrounding countryside. The hike at Antisana has several options, but hiking at 13,000 feet can be challenging. We also enjoyed clear weather -- a rainy or foggy day wouldn't have ben as enjoyable.

Great experience with Wilson!

Great experience with Wilson! This tour was personalized (we are birders, so focused on birds) and timing was flexible. Non-birders would have a blast as well. Wilson was very personable and shared Ecuadorian culture, customs, and history. And yes, we saw condors! About 5 beginning as soon as we got to the right habitat, along with White-tailed Deer, Andean Teal, Andean Lapwing, Silvery Grebe, Andean Coot, and more!

An Unforgettable Day

This was a very well spent day to say the least. We were expecting a busload of tourists, but to our delight it turned out to be just my wife and I, and Luis in a car. He was an excellent guide in every way. We were blessed with great weather and we got perfect views of all the volcanos in the area, including Cotopaxi and Antisana. The view of them was great that we cancelled our trip to Cotopaxi the next day and went to Otavala instead. We saw a large number of different birds, including a couple of condors, as well as deer and other wildlife. We had a wonderful lunch in a colorful restaurant with a variety of humming birds flying about. It was a nearly perfect day. If we ever return to Quito, I'd do it again.

Juan unser Guide hat uns pünktlich abgeholt und ist mit uns durch den unglaublichen Berufsverkehr ins Schutzgebiet gefahren. Unterwegs wurde viel zur Gegend erklärt. Nach 45 Min fing es an ländlich zu werden. Tolle Eindrücke von Land und Leuten unterwegs. Im Nationalpark haben wir insgesamt 10 Kondore gesehen. Daneben noch Adler und Falken sowie Ibisse und kleinere Vögel. Es gab auch viele Whitetail-Hirsche zusehen. An dem Stausee haben wir eine 1,5 Std. Wanderung durchs Grasland gemacht. Sehr schön mit weiter Sicht auf den schneebedeckten Antisana aber wegen der Höhe von 4200m sehr anstrengend. Auf den Rückweg sind wir zum Lunch in einem kleinen Lokal genau gegenüber der Kondorbrutplätze eingekehrt. Von der Terrasse aus konnte man auch hier Kondore sehen. Insgesamt eine sehr schöne Tagestour bei der wir mehr Kondore gesehen haben als erwartet. Juan vielen Dank für den tollen Tag! Einen Punkt Abzug gibt's für den Preis, weil doch ein recht teurer Ausflug ist, für das was geboten wird.

Uitstekende dagtrip met een uitgebreide hike in het natuurgebied bij Antosana en condor spotting. Gids Carlos wist een veel over het gebied te vertellen, boeiend!
