False itinerary - NO Cuicocha lagoon!?

The good: We were taken to Peguche waterfall and Otavalo Market. These parts of the tour were great. Visited other places along the way and got a nice little taste of Ecuadorian culture. Felt a little like a selling tour as we were surprised with ‘opportunities’ to purchase from locals along the way. By the time we got to the market we didn’t feel we needed to look around to purchase much more. Bizcochos tasting was delish! The bad: we did NOT visit Cuicocha lagoon! I asked the guide (from Latin Adventures) of the trip and she said they never intended in going there. I asked a couple other guests and those who did not book through viator did not have this mix up in their itinerary. I booked this particular trip because I wanted to go to Cuicocha lagoon so this was very disappointing! The ugly: viator attempting to pass blame on Latin adventures and vice versa. I had one day left in Quito and asked both companies if they could schedule us to go to the lagoon for our final day to make up for this missed experience. In response, I received a notification from viator that a refund request has been submitted in my behalf. Latin Adventures has not replied to my messages since the tour ended. That was 4 days ago now, I’m back in Canada and no updates. In the future I will plan to book through a tour company (probably not Latin Adventures) directly instead of using viator.

We are not visiting Cuicocha Lake in shared service. We offer personalized itineraries only in private services (including Cuicocha Lake under request). You made a reservation in small groups for shared service. Please check well.

Too many stops, not enough time for any of them

Unfortunately it was raining and we had to improvise to prevent us from spending the rest of the day soaked. Too many stops to appreciate everything. If your interested in the Otavalo market only it's best to hire a cab for the day.

On this trip, we do the following stops, anyway, we are very flexible with the itinerary and tailor it according to our client's request. - San Pablos Lake viewpoint - Peguche Village (workshops) - Otavalo Market - Lunch at Cotacachi - Cuicocha lake (optional)

Had a wonderful day with Ximena. She was very knowledgeable, took us to many places we would not have found on our own. The views were amazing, We made many stops,Ximena did not rush us but talored the day to us. She was Very pleasant and personable. I would take this tour again

The guide Carlos, very nice and patient. He explained to us in detail the name of the place and its history along the way. He accompanied us everywhere. He was excellent.The trip to otavlo market was a good experience. The restaurant we were in was great. A classy restaurant, with pleasant background music. The food was excellent, I really enjoyed the food. And the price was also very worth it. Also the visit and learning about the musical instruments, and the family playing was a wonderful experience.

This was different than I expected, our guide and driver were awesome and we had a beautifully clear day to see all the Volcanos. They took us first to a nicer shop to see the process of making some of the tapestries and the shop had excellent quality goods. Then we headed to the market which we went on a Saturday so it was huge. We gave our kid (10 & 12) some cash and they had a blast shopping. We then went to another area for lunch which was excellent. This area is known for its leather goods which shops had some really good stuff.

A great private tour with Alfonso. Very knowledgeable spoke great English. Took us to the flower market, Panama hat shop and for Bischocos. Fantastic included lunch, paid extra to get Cuy, don’t be afraid it’s GOOD! Very happy with tour, guild went above and beyond. Great indigenous market place too.

Fun day trip out of the city. Guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and fluent in english. the market itself is small and the stalls have pretty much the same stuff, so you don't really need to linger there long. Also, it's better with a private tour as you don't have to wait for dozens of other people to finish up shopping when you've been done for a while.

Great tour. It is worth paying the extra to have the private tour although we did have 1 extra guest. Raul spoke fluent English and was very knowledgeable. The tour did start very late due to the traffic.

Our guide, Alfonso, spoke magnificent English and was very knowledgeable about the area and it's people and customs. He also took a side route to take us to the equator when he learned that we would not have time to visit there. Latin Adventures went above and beyond to return a cell phone that was left in the car at the end of the tour. It was waiting for us at a hotel airport when we returned from our trips to various areas almost two weeks later, JUST as they had arranged. Very impressed! We would highly recommend both this tour AND the company who does it!

This was a fun filled day. Our guide, Daniel, was delightful---very personable, very knowledgeable, very accommodating, and he spoke English very well. The drive up to Otavalo was beautiful with a couple of scenic stops along the way. The market in Otavalo is a great place to shop, see the some of the residents in their traditional dress, and observe the crafts of the area. The stop in Cotacachi was also very interesting. Cotacachi a strong North American influence because many ex-pats live there and it is easy to see why. This was a great choice for exploring some of the regions outside of Quito. We had already spent two days in Quito and I'm glad we got to see and learn of some of the areas north of the city. A highlight of our trip that had a lot of great moments.
