What To Expect

Be ready for early morning departure. Climb into a comfortable tour vehicle and depart the city, bound for the south shore of Iceland and the Glacier Lagoon. 

Once you arrive, take a boat ride among the icebergs. Learn about the formation of the lagoon and, which branches from Breidamerkurjokull, an outlet glacier of the Vatnajokull glacier. 

Back on land, stop at two of the country's most impressive waterfalls on the way back to Reykjavik. Walk behind the falls at Seljalandsfoss.

Monica, our guide, was very knowledgeable about local history and landmarks. We stopped at 2 very pretty waterfalls on the tour. Glacier Bay was spectacular. We are so glad tours are provided from Reykjavik because we couldn’t have done it on our own.

Our guide Runar was excellent! He was very personable and friendly. A proud Icelander with lots of knowledge. Our driver Peter was very safe. He delivered a nice smooth ride. This is a very full day. 14 hours. Well worth every minute. The glaciers, waterfalls and countryside are all breathtaking. Do yourself a favor and take this tour.

Be prepared for a long day. The end is worth the long bus ride. The Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach were did not disappoint. Come prepared with snacks.

It was cancelled and we were never notified prior to the start. We got the email cancelling the trip 12 hours after! We only discovered it was cancelled after calling Viator after standing in the cold and wind for over 90 minutes! We still haven’t got a refund either.

Good Weather, great guide, long day

It is a long day for sure and if I were to do it again I would probably get a room down in Vik and do a tour from there and then work my way back to Reykjavik driving the rental. That being said this tour that starts and ends in Reykjavik is excellent! Our guide Gilli was very informative and there were stops along the way to break up the drive. Glacier Lagoon lived up to the hype! We had really good weather on the way down so there plenty to see along the way. If the weather was worse (which is more likely) it would not have been near as good. The other thing the road back to Reykjavik does close often due to high winds (it did 2 days later!!), so really not sure what the backup plan would have been.

The Glavier lagoon tour was awesome! Our guide was really good and very nice and knowledgeable. We ate lunch at a restaurant with a view of the glaciers and the food was good. Really had so much fun and highly recommend this tour.

Do yourself a favor and book this tour! What you get to see, and what you get to learn, is well worth it. Yes, it is a long way and a long day. But you will thank yourself for doing it. The trip is broken up with stops along the way, and you get to see a substantial amount of the south coast of Iceland withthis tour. Skogafoss, Seljalandsfoss, Vic. The lagoon is incredible and the boat ride gets you up close. Unbelievable photo opportunities! At Diamond Beach, there were pieces of ice washed up on a black sand beach. Phenomenal! Our guide, Daniel, was great! Very, very knowledgeable. His prior background allowed him to give us a substantial amount of information. We couldn't have asked for a better guide! You get to see something that few people see!

It was a long day but worth it. Pickup at 7 AM, long drive to the glacier. Guide shared many stories and personal experiences and how he came to love Iceland, immigrating from Israel. Taking the boat at the glacier lagoon is a must, it is a unique experience. Back in town around 10:00 PM.
Long day in coach but worth it

The places visited were fascinating and so worth seeing. With a few stop offs for coffee etc, we were picked up at 7am and got to 1st location for 2pm boat through glacier lagoon, so bit of a long day, after that there were a number of stop offs on way home for waterfalls, diamond beach, Vik, etc. 15hr trip - well done to driver and guide!! I dont think i realised how long on coach to get from city centre to glacier lagoon, but it was worth seeing

This is a must do tour. The Glacier's are so beautiful . We also stopped at Black Beach which was beautiful as well. The boat tour to see the glaciers up close was amazing.

It was a wonderful tour with so many amazing locations. I definitely loved the boat ride at glacier lagoon. Also the timing to visit Seljalandfoss was perfect with beautiful sunset. It was a long day but well worth it. Carolina was so knowledgeable and we learned so much from her. Thank you so much for driving us all day, Alec.

It’s a LONG day but 110% worth it. This tour defined to me Iceland and all I was hoping to see. The waterfall and glacier were just remarkable. 110% MUST do the add on boat tour. Couldn’t imagine not having that as part of the trip. Our guide Thor was outstanding. This is a must do trip
Very long day

This tour was supposed to be 14 hours, so we knew it would be long. It lasted over 15 hrs. From 7:00 am bus pickup to after 10 pm drop off. Why? How can this be improved? Fewer impromptu stops, I guess? The tour guide (forget her name, Diane?) was fine, but not as engaging as our guide from the day before. It didn't help that the bus traveled along much of the same route initially, so we were getting some of the same information. The guide was very good about keeping us on time to get to our lagoon boat rides at the scheduled times. We did that, so how did we end up being over an hour late by the time we returned? I would assume we made too many stops on the way back. The ones I would have skipped were the piece of bridge (from a glacier flood) and the short hike around the basalt columns. Even then, the stop at Vik was shorter than we would have liked. We had very little time to grab something to eat. At every stop, it was all about beating people off the bus to avoid long lines. The glacier lagoon was amazing, Diamond Beach a little less amazing, maybe due to the time of year, but still neat to see. I don't regret the long trip due to the lagoon, but it was a very long day.
