What To Expect

After being picked up from your Reykjavik hotel, meet your guide and small group of no more than 19 people, and head east to explore the popular Golden Circle sightseeing route.

Your tour begins at Thingvellir National park, where you’ll get the rare opportunity to walk right on the meeting point of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Learn about the shifting of the plates and their influence on Iceland’s volatile volcanic landscapes from your guide as you admire the views, and hear more about Iceland’s history as you visit the site of the world’s first parliament.

The photo-worthy landscapes continue, as you stop by the Geysir geothermal area to see geysers including Strokkur and Geysir, the geyser after which all others are named. Stick around long enough to watch the Strokkur geyser erupt (around every 10 minutes), spurting a column of water up to 98 foot (30 meters) in the air.

Stop for a lunch break near the hot springs (own expense) and then continue to the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most visited sights.

Your final stop of the day is the magnificent Kerid Crater Lake. Gaze out over the dramatic volcanic crater, which measures an impressive 886-foot (270-meters) wide and 180-foot (55-meters) deep, and marvel at the glittering crater lake at its heart.

Relax on the ride back to Reykjavik, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel or nearest meeting point.

Fantastic trip ,we really liked being in the small group the mini bus was great very comfortable. We saw some breathtaking views and all the stops were amazing .We also made some other stops for Icelandic ice cream ,sunrise, feeding horses as well as others which was really good. We came away with lots of knowledge about the area as well as amazing memories. Our guide Ingor really knew his stuff and made the trip very special.

Love it!

Great experience all around! Our guide, Filip, made sure everyone had a wonderful time. Highly recommendable!
Great tour, boring tour guide
Gina_C, Apr 2024
The iternary itself is great! Nice Travel was, okay...our guide was nice but droned on and on and on. I think he felt he had to speak the entire time we were on the bus! Also, at each stop, he told us to wait outside the bus for him rather that go off and explore. It was very cold out. Anything he needed to say to us could have been said on the bus. We ended up just going on our way after the second stop. At the waterfall stop, he brought us inside to look at a map and slowly explained things that really weren't necessary. I felt like we were on a class trip. The other tour we had taken was with Hidden Iceland. That tour guide was amazing! But, again, the sights were amazing!
Be very careful about the "small group" description. Totally misleading.

20 people crammed into a tiny van. Probably more comfort riding on the full size bus. Beware of this small group description.
Beautiful scenery all through the tour
Gemma_S, Apr 2024
Beautiful waterfalls, great scenery all through the tour. Great to gey some Icelandic insights from our tour guide. Would highly recommend the Golden Circle tour.
Excellent small group tour!
Regina_R, Apr 2024
This was an excellent tour with a small group of people. The mini-bus was clean and warm. We really enjoyed the entire trip. It was well paced with plenty of time at each stop to enjoy all of the amazing sites. If you are going in March/April be sure to dress in very warm layers because it’s cold and very windy.
tour guide who shared his own experiences
Wei_D, Apr 2024
A very interesting itinerary, thanks to the tour guide who, being a local, narrated many stories about Iceland and shared his own experiences along the way!

Worth the cost, great guides.....

Can't go wrong with any trip package. Highlight was the golden waterfall. Both tour guides were very informative and with different agents so you'll be fine. Small bus trips very bumpy and cramped would be my only warning if you aren't nimble but extra photo stops thrown in as bonus if you don't delay the bus departure. Wear strong shoes and plan for a long day.
Just another wonderful day in icy paradise.

Our guide Siggy was very knowledgeable and made it a fun day, we had enough time on the stops and a great bonus to stop to see horses, a great day.
Nice tour guide
Yan_C, Mar 2024
Very organized tour and great tour guide. The guide gave us an overall introduction of each stop at beginning of the tour and recap before each stop. He is also very knowledgeable of the country and provided very informative explanation of local culture etc during the whole trip.
Great experience
Richard_B, Mar 2024
Had a great time. Our guide (can't remember name but translates to bear) was very informative and pleasant. Weather was good but very windy in places and can probably be a lot worse. Think we did the right thing booking the smaller bus.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear guest, great to hear you enjoyed your small group tour with us and a fun and relaxed manner.
Cannot be missed!!!!!

Mika was amazing today! His knowledge was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for him - we even had an extra couple of stops on our tour. And he supports Man United!!!
Enjoyable trip

All very good but especially the Geysir and waterfall. Pick up was on time for us but took a long time and went back past the same locations several times
Tourist trap and incessant talking from the driver/guide
Carla_R, Feb 2024
If you visit Iceland you kind of have to do the Golden circle. This can be done easily in less than 3 hours from Reykjavik however it is milked to a tiring 8h+ touristic ordeal. No point in going on a small group tour, you better pay less, go in a more comfortable bigger bus, as you will be driven to all the same places as 300 other huge buses and mini buses...and taken to all the same places to spend your money in souvenirs and food (no other options for miles and no pick-nicks allowed). Renting a car to do it is also probably a good option. The Geyser is dormant and they only tell you on arrival. The driver made 4 unscheduled stops, the last one quite clearly to make us spend more money in a particular bakery. It was a stop nobody wanted to make and he did it regardless. This would have been ok if the weather was ok and we were all comfortable and dry...but we weren't. The weather was miserable, and although this has nothing to do with the guide, he was unable to read the room and adjust to the circumstances. People were wet and cold and wanted to go back to their hotels as soon as possible. He kept dragging us from unscheduled stop to unscheduled stop without realizing that the best thing to do was to give us more time in the important schedule stops and to take us home as quick as possible after that to get dry and warm. He was also speaking incessantly about random things regarding Iceland and, I believe he must have told us at least a good half of the Icelandic Sagas. Again he was unable to read the room in this regard as well. Though it is interesting to hear about Iceland and its history during the tour....this constant random babbling was confusing, tiring and incomprehensible. It was even more so for the tourists in the group that struggled with English. He was so distracted with his "storytelling" that the instructions for meeting place and time were not made clear and distinct from the storytelling and a couple of tourist in the group got "lost". All in all I would not repeat this or recommend it. I gave it 3 starts though as the waterfall is indeed impressive and well worth the visit. Our pick up driver, Peter, was also a delight and very funny.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear guest, thank you for your comprehensive review. Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your tour very much. The challenge in guiding tours is that some people would like the guide to speak relatively little and enjoy more peace and quiet while other prefer almost a running commentary during the tour. As you mention, the weather will always play a big part in any tour experience and this is the one factor we can not control. Happy to hear you enjoyed viewing Gullfoss the Golden waterfall and thank you for your nice comments about Peter, the worlds best transfer driver.
Great tour and great host
Joanna_R, Feb 2024
Alfred our tour guide was a fountain of knowledge on everything to do with Iceland. He kept us entertained throughout our day and even though the rain spoilt the day somewhat, we still managed to see everything and even managed a couple of extra stops to see some Icelandic horses and a quick stop at the tomato farm. Alfred was very friendly, witty and even provided crampons for us to wear at the icy spots.
Fantastic day-trip
HelenMarie_C, Feb 2024
A wonderful day-trip! Our guide, Vlad, was fantastic. We saw geysers, waterfalls, horses and more. Walked for miles and had a great time. We couldn’t have wished for more!
