What To Expect

Begin your tour with pickup from your Reykjavik hotel or at a centrally located meeting point. Meet your local guide and settle into the comfortable air-conditioned bus for the journey to Thingvellir. Set in a dramatic rift valley between cliffs, where the American and Eurasian continents meet, Thingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and original setting of Iceland's parliament, the oldest in the world. Enjoy ample time to explore the area.

Head next for the world-famous Strokkur Geysir and admire its hot water shooting into the air every few minutes. Afterward, drive on to the dramatic Gullfoss waterfall where water plunges in two stages into a 105-foot (32-meter) crevice.

Finally, enjoy entrance to the Secret Lagoon. Don't forget your swimsuit and towel so that you can enjoy the relaxing waters of the natural hot spring.

Take advantage of the bus' free WiFi to upload and share photos on the way back to Reykjavik, then finish with a drop-off back at your original departure point.

  • Dress according to weather: In Iceland it is always wise to dress in warm, waterproof clothes. Weather changes can be sudden so expect the unexpected. Bring a waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good outdoor shoes are recommended
  • It is recommended that you bring your own headphones for the on board audio guide simply because they will fit you best. It is also great for the environment. If you don’t have your headphones or forgot to bring them, earphones are available to purchase on board (own expense)

  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Wonderful trip, would recommend if you’re only in Iceland for a short break as you get to see some of the best sights all in one go. The waterfall and hot springs were really good and then to finish the day in the thermal pool was amazing. Our tour guide Amelia was really informative and funny, who kept the trip really interesting.

Excellent Day out, Great Value for Money and Lovely Tour Guide (Darren) and Service!

This was a really excellent tour with Darren who were really welcoming and lovely; this was a great trip and I'd definitely reccomend this to anyone who wants to go on a really interesting day excursion with some really great tour guides :) The plan of the excursion itself was great, seeing the national park, geysirs, waterfalls and visiting the Secret Lagoon- it made for a really unique day and the coach itself was super comfortable (and a lovely way to get around). I'd 100% reccomend this trip and Darren did a great job :) I'd also add that the tour operators made it very easy for myself and my friend to get around; we had to switch coach at the end of our Secret Lagoon visit to return to Reykjavik, as we were the only two visiting the Secret Lagoon and had to get a lift back on a different coach, but this was done seamlessly and we felt very well looked after. And the entrance fee for the Secret Lagoon was included, which was excellent. A great day and trip :)

Very good experience with the tour in general. We opted for the extended version with the secret lagoon entrance, however when we got picked up by the following tour after our visit to the lagoon, we asked to be dropped off at bus stop 14. The tour director told us that bus stop 5 was a 2 minute walk from 14 and not knowing the area we followed her directive. We ended up walking 40 minutes to our hostel near bus stop 14. It was not appreciated since we paid for a direct pick up and drop off.

Snow keeps falling on my head

Sadly I picked the day with snow and virtual white out so most photographs look like they are in black and white. The guide was great and did he's best to overcome the weather with information and local knowledge. The secret lagoon was wonderful, where else could you swim in a bath temperature pool with snow falling on your head!

A good sightseeing tour

A really good all round trip, finished off with a soak in the secret lagoon. Our guide throughout the day was entertaining, pick up times were spot on and value for money considering a blue lagoon visit will set you back near £300 for the two of you ! The only reason I gave it a star less, is when your dropped off at the secret lagoon for your last hurrah, it's a bit vague with the details on were your going to actually get dropped off after your done. Which isn't a bother we jumped off in generally the same area, just not great for people possibly with families who need concrete details, but that could just be the islandic way ! You'll enjoy it all the same.

Every stop was absolutely incredible! The guide was so lovely and kept us informed of where we were going and facts about that place while we were on the bus so when we got off we could fully explore independently. Each destination was the perfect amount of time, a perfect day out. Definitely worth the trip, an unforgettable experience!!

The whole day was brilliant, and great value for money. Our guide Amelia was informative and funny. All the locations are stunning and this trip is a must do. There were toilets and places to get food at every location, and it felt like the right amount of time in each place.

Good driver and guide. Darren and Haggie was very friendly. Trip was good. You have to transfer to another bus for secret lagoon as they will drop you at lagoon and you will ride different return bus.

Worst tour guide

When the tour began, our guide Christina told us that there were 3 rules which she then listed. There was no greeting, very little information was given during the entire bus trip, she was direct but unfriendly. She was the worst tour guide we’ve ever had. At the end of the day, we returned to Reykjavík with a different tour guide (Hrafn, sp?), who was excellent; informative, friendly and very accommodating. We wished we had been on his tour bus all day. Bottom line, the Golden Circle is worth touring but your guide will make all the difference.

When you are told to go to the bus terminal, make sure you go to the bus terminal, but not the main one, the little tiny one. Learned this after the bus left us and 4 other passengers without as much as a call/warning. We spoke to the staff who weren't that fussed. we had to get a very expensive taxi roughly £200 to catch the tour up, as we were told that refunds were not confirmed. Sure, I should have read the small print better, but I thought bus terminal meant bus terminal. I would recommend that the tour company makes this a bit clearer, as this obviously happens a lot. Otherwise, pretty cool day!

Strokkur was awesome, watched the geyser erupt four or five times. Glacier and waterfall had the majesty of power. The Secret lagoon was the perfect end to the day. Trip well organised. Only downside was the audio on the bus which was too quiet at times. Skulli was a very informative guide.
