What To Expect

Your tour starts from a convenient pickup in Roatan from either your accommodation or the port, and then you’ll be driven to Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hang Out- an animal sanctuary for rescued wildlife. Learn all about the wildlife and Honduran culture from your guide and driver, who will drop you back at your departure point when the tour finishes.

Fun tour. Not as much information about the animals but a quick talk about their lives. They combined two tour groups together and it made for a few too many people in a group

Too short of a visit to the sloth and monkey. The title to the excursions says sloth/Monkeys and a tour of the island. The tour of the island is the tourist trap choc store and the other stop of rim but the group said no. I booked this tour to see the island not stop at the choc factory like all the other tours said they did. When you get to the shopping are you have women trying to massage you with oil. I looked for a tour that didn’t do this. But don’t let the title fool you they are just like all the others.

It was an amazing experience to hang out with monkeys .the tour was also very knowledgeable.and holding a sloth was an amazing opportunity. And our driver was amazing took us to all the best spots.and unfortunately I was on crutches and he helped me with anything I needed . This was an amazing tour thank you for helping us create beautiful memories.

Eddie was a wonderful guide with the Sloths and Monkeys. He made it so much fun! Richard showed us around the iguanas and they both made this the most memorable trip! Very Happy.

Definitely recommend! The tour was great, we got to hold an adorable sloth and had monkeys jump on our shoulders. The Macaw was beautiful too!

The sloth and monkey experience was very interesting. The transportation vehicle was too small and very cramped, and not adequate. I have taken many Viator tours, and this was most inadequate transportation I have had.

This excursion was just okay. Nothing terrible, nothing amazing. We did get to hold a sloth and let monkeys jump all over us but the time was brief. The enclosures were small and I felt bad for the animals being manipulated and bothered by humans all day. The rest of the tour was just a gimmick. We stopped at a rum factory and then a chocolate factory. They brought us there with just enough time to buy something. Both places were small and packed with multiple tour groups making stops there. Would I do this tour again? No. But if there’s someone out there dying to hold a sloth, I would definitely recommend.

It is a fun experience, although the driver is not very talkative and the park is small. As a driver, he is flexible; as a tour guide, more introduction about the area will provide tourists more information. Overall, we had a good time.

What an amazing tour given by our guide, Tyron. We had a small group and he was able to show us a variety of spectacular vistas, took us to meet the monkeys and hold a sloth, sample rum and chocolate and along the way provide us with the history and people of Roatan. 110% recommend this tour.

The animal mark was better than we expected! The tour guides definitely got us preferential line treatment and we enjoyed the birds, sloths, and monkeys. The driving portion was customized to what we wanted to do…chocolate and rum and the lookout. Our driver was Derrick Hynds (he said there are two Derricks). He was an island native and conversation was pleasant and informative. Definitely reccommend.

The visit to the monkey and sloth hangout was a really beautiful experience for my 3 teenage grandchildren as well as for us grandparents. Our tour guide was awesome. He showed concern for all of us and took very good care of us during the island tour as well.

Loved holding the sloth, loved the adorable macaws and the crazy monkeys! Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. We were a group of 6 and were all very happy. Only complaint was our driver in the bus was complaining about his life and the country and it was sort of a downer.

We booked a private four person van tour. It turned out the tour driver was double booked and had taken a tour group to snorkel before picking us up. He said he would take us to see the monkeys and sloths first to avoid crowds. He drove us around talking about the areas before taking us to see the monkeys and sloths. We originally were to go to the beach to eat and shop. We changed our plans when he later mentioned that he had to pick some people up from the beach and would take care of them while we were eating at a different restaurant that was not on the beach and would be back about 30 minutes later .We agreed thinking we would be helping him. Unfortunately, he returned 90 minutes later with eight people from the tour in his van. We boarded the van, unhappy that our four-person van load was now 12. This other group was then returned to their ship. This delay at the restaurant and stop at the other port used up a good deal of our time. We had hoped to do some shopping before returning to the ship. (It was Caribbean night and my sister and her husband planned to purchase Caribbean wear for dinner.) Unfortunately, because of the delay, we were unable to shop. We had arranged and paid for a private tour for four people; however, we ended up sharing our driver with another group of 8. It appeared that our driver was juggling two tours. Whether he was double-booked or had an extra tour on the side, is the question. We have arranged many tours with Viator over the years and have never had any problems. This, to say the least, was unacceptable.

We had the most amazing experience and private tour in Roatan! Highly recommend Roatan Henry Tour and our guide Shem! He was informative, kind and let us choose what we wanted to do that day. No rush and took us to great photo spots & local market for souvenirs too. Our visit included the monkey and sloth experience which is so much fun! Everyone has the opportunity for interacting and holding them for photos. We will book again when we visit and request Shem.
